Glass Blown Open

Thursday, February 3, 2011 - 14:32

Dynamic Discs is proud to Present the 9th Glass Blown Open. Some of the best disc golfers in the world will be meeting in Emporia, Kansas on April 16th and 17th to compete for the title of 2011 Glass Blown Open Champion. The 2010 GBO was a huge success and with 267 players it ranked amongst the Biggest tournaments in the World. The 2010 edition also ranked high in Pro payout with a pro purse of over $14,300. This number does not reflect the over $2000 that was given away as part of the Discraft “Just Focus” putting competition, the SkyWalkers Gymnastics long drive competition, and the Super Nice Guy Random Draw Final 9. The 2011 GBO looks to exceed these numbers and bring the participants another tournament experience to remember. As always the GBO will be an event and not just another tourney.

The action starts Friday and will last all weekend. Friday will feature last chance qualifying, a new feature to the GBO. Dynamic Discs will reserve the final spot in each division for last chance qualifying. Any competitor who is registered for the GBOverflow will be eligible. Competitors wanting to qualify will need to pay a $20 qualifying fee the first round and $10 each subsequent round. The competitor who qualifies will be able to put the GBOverflow entry plus $20 towards their GBO entry fee. Dynamic Doubles will start at noon and run until we run out of daylight. CoolDaddySlickBreeze will be on hand to film the next installment of the Dynamic Duels and spectators are welcome to watch. SkyWalkers Gymnastics will be running long drive qualifying all day on Friday. The Discraft, “Just Focus” putting qualifying will also start on Friday.

Saturday will be the kick off of the A-tier, competitors will compete on two of the 3 World Class disc golf courses in Emporia, Kansas.  The GBOoverflow will take place for all divisions (competitors in the GBOverflow will receive all the perks of the GBO), only a few blocks from the Jones Park Disc Golf courses. The GBOverflow will be a C-tier played out over 3 rounds of 13 holes, giving competitors the chance to get 3 PDGA rated rounds. Immediately following the final round the top qualifiers in the distance competition will show case their skills and compete for the title of Biggest Gun at the GBO. Saturday night all players, friends, and family are invited to Desperato’s to enjoy the GBO player's party. Dinner and admission are free for all paid competitors in either event. Last chance putting qualifying will be taking place inside the bar with the top putter competing for the title of putting champ.

Sunday will be the final round for all competitors of the GBO. Dynamic Discs really encourages any and all disc golfers not competing in the GBO to head to Emporia and watch the final round play out. At the completion of the final round the very popular Super Nice Guy random draw final 9 skin doubles will take place. The final will feature the top 4 MPO players with 4 lucky raffle winners in an alternate shot doubles format.
