2015 Majors and National Tour Event Schedule Released

2015 A-Tier Requests Being Accepted Until October 10th

The 2015 PDGA Majors and National Tour Schedule has been approved and is shown below.

There are 10 PDGA Majors scheduled for next year, three of which are outside of the United States: The Aussie Open (Australia), The Scandinavian Open (Sweden), and the European Open (Finland). The PDGA National Tour Elite Series has seven events scheduled for 2015, including first time NT appearances by the Glass Blown Open in Emporia, KS and the Ledgestone Insurance Open in Peoria, IL. Several other previously scheduled A-Tier events have also been included.

With the release of the 2015 PDGA Majors/NT schedule, the PDGA office is now accepting applications for those events wishing to have A-Tier status in 2015. In order for an application to be reviewed, it must be submitted no later than Friday, October 10th using the new online A-Tier request form.

What is the reason for expanding the # of majors for Men's/Womens Open to 5, with two on back to back weekends in Europe. 4 is suffice and keeps these majors prestigious!

I cannot give you an official answer, but traditionally national championships are Majors if the promoters meet the other criteria.
