PDGA Competition Committee

The PDGA is pleased to announce that four-time Elite Series TD, Jeff Jacquart, will become the Association’s first Director of Competition, beginning January 10, 2022.

The new directorate was created to oversee the development of all PDGA Majors and premier professional and amateur events, including coordination with the Disc Golf Pro Tour (DGPT) and PDGA Euro Tour.

The PDGA Competition Committee has finalized its changes to section 1.02.C of the Competition Manual For Disc Golf Events. These changes, which the PDGA Board of Directors tasked the committee with in January, allow for three exceptions to the previous "first-come, first-served" registration policy, but also include limits on their use.

These changes were approved by the PDGA Board of Directors during a meeting on May 26, 2020, and take effect immediately.

The PDGA Competition Committee is happy to announce the addition of three new members, each of whom will help bring greater representation to event directors, amateur competitors, and women disc golfers. Please welcome:

They join the previous members of the committee:

After extensive debate and consideration, the PDGA Board of Directors has voted to instruct the Competition Committee to create three new exceptions to the “first-come, first-served” registration required by Competition Manual section 1.02.C. While certain events already are empowered to make skill-based exceptions to this rule (e.g., qualifiers for USDGC and USADGC; points or ratings eligibility for Amateur, Masters, or Pro Worlds; series performance for various series finales), the Board has decided to open up three general exceptions to this provision that Tournament Directors may use to offer early registration.

The PDGA Competition Committee is looking to add one to three volunteers to its membership. The committee's primary work is updating and revising the PDGA Competition Manual for Disc Golf Events, as well as working closely with the Rules Committee and Majors/NT Working Group to address issues related to disc golf competition. Chairman Jay "Yeti" Reading and board liaison Mike "Sully" Sullivan will be reviewing applications and will make the ultimate selections.
