October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and the PDGA is giving back in a big way once again!

Since 2013, the Professional Disc Golf Association has donated $2 for every female that participates in a PDGA-sanctioned event in October to an organization that supports those affected by breast cancer. With the help of over 3,500 female competitors, contributions from Prodigy Discs, the 2014 United States Women’s Disc Golf Championship’s raffle and silent auction, and the Magnolia Open, the PDGA has donated a total of $9,098 to support patients and families who have been affected by this disease. 

Now in its fifth year, the PDGA has confidence that their total donation will finally break the $10,000 mark in 2017 - but it cannot be done without the support of its members! The mission is simple; encourage more women to play in PDGA-sanctioned events and raise awareness for breast cancer by donating their player fees to an organization that supports the fight against breast cancer. 

This year, the collective funds from the PDGA will be donated to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF), the highest rated breast cancer organization in the United States and largest private funder of breast cancer research worldwide.

BCRF is recognized as one of the most financially efficient nonprofits in the country. We are the only breast cancer organization with an “A+” from CharityWatch and have a 4-star rating from Charity Navigator.

For the entire month of October, invite your friends, girlfriends, mothers, sisters, aunts, and grandmothers to your local PDGA-sanctioned event and help the PDGA raise funds for this incredible cause! As we continue to work together to get more ladies playing disc golf, we can raise awareness and help put an end to the cancer that affects more women than any other.
