He’s two-for-two and has his eyes squarely set on building.
Paul McBeth went wire-to-wire this weekend at the Disc Golf Pro Tour – Waco Annual Charity Open presented by Prodigy Disc for his second-straight win this season, and is looking ahead.
“I always look at it like those wins aren’t going to help me win the next one,” McBeth said. “It’s a great feeling to have two wins already this year and it’s great for the year accolades, but I’ve got to look forward.
“I did some great things at these two tournaments but again, it’s not helping next week.”
Great things like putting (91% in C1X) and driving (72% C2 in regulation; 76% in fairway hits), according to UDisc.

But building and improving is square at the center of McBeth’s focus, who opened his season with another wire-to-wire win a week ago at the Memorial Championship.
“I think Waco was a really good test for me,” he said. “The thing I really struggled with in Arizona was the touch shots and there are so many of them here in the woods, so it was great to learn my discs and work on that touch. I was able to conquer that.
“There are a lot of early takeaways from these two events and it’s a big confidence boost heading into the next one.”

McBeth entered Sunday’s finale with a one-shot lead over Luke Humphries, who has turned in strong performances in a breakout early season. McBeth opened Sunday with a par-saving hit from circle 2 and found his touch in the woods with seven-straight birdies to build a five-stroke lead through 10 holes.

But escaping the woods at Waco is one thing. Finishing at the Beast is another.
The lead was cut to two strokes coming out of the woods, but birdies on 13 and 16, paired with misses from Dickerson, gave McBeth a four-stroke cushion entering the daunting finish in Waco.
It was more than enough for McBeth to claim his 36th Elite Series win of his career.
Humphries finished in second, three shots back, for his second top-five finish in as many DGPT events this year. Chris Clemons jumped six spots with a 7-under round for a tie for third with Joel Freeman.

Sunday’s hot round belonged to Cole Redalen, who rose 49 spots to a tie for 28th, with a 1082-rated 11-under.
But, for the second time at Waco, this weekend belonged to McBeth, whose confidence has shown early and often in the young 2022 season.
“I always want to get better,” he told Brian Earhart of the Disc Golf Network. “There’s always something to work on.”
Next up for McBeth is the DGPT Silver Series – The Open at Belton, which begins March 18 in Belton, Texas. The Disc Golf Pro Tour Elite Series resumes at the Texas State Disc Golf Championship on March 25-27 in Tyler, Texas.
