How to Watch the LWS Open at Idlewild
The LWS Open at Idlewild presented by Dynamic Discs and The Nati is all about the return.
Setting the stage for the PDGA Major European Open, fresh off the heels of the United States Women’s Disc Golf Championship and the return to Elite Series action, Kentucky plays hosts to several players returning to action and to form.
Chris Dickerson, Paul Ulibarri, Matt Orum, Raven Newsom, and Paige Shue are among the players in the field for the first time in quite some time.

As far as a return to form, defending champion Kyle Klein returns to the site of his first Elite Series win after a third-place finish at the Preserve Championship two weeks ago, his highest of the 2022 season. Another player that will be featured during Thursday’s opening round, Gavin Rathbun, finished 16th in his return to Elite Series action in Minnesota.
Shue, Dickerson, and Ulibarri, returning from injury, last competed at the Dynamic Discs Open. Newsom, who is returning from an injury as well, last was on the Elite Series at the 2021 DGPT Championship.

On the FPO side, this event has belonged to Paige Pierce, who has won four out of the five times that Idlewild has hosted an Elite Series event. Ellen Widboom won in 2020.
For MPO, there’s never been a back-to-back winner, as StatMando pointed out, in the history of the event. Past winners include James Conrad, Paul McBeth, Kevin Jones, Eagle McMahon and Klein.
While the top open players compete at Idlewild, the PDGA Junior and Masters World Championships will be held in Illinois, a week before the third PDGA Pro Major of the year, the European Open, returns for the first time since 2019, a true return to form indeed
