Since their first appearance on the PDGA National Tour at the 2018 Delaware Disc Golf Challenge, it has been clear that Gatekeeper Media has been a strong producer of video coverage. With professional commentary, clean graphics, and their signature Gatekeeper Rewind, the company — helmed by Derek Scull and Chris German — continued to flourish in 2019, making the trek west for the Las Vegas Challenge and expanding their productions to half of the events on the NT (in addition to several other regional tournaments).

It only makes sense, then, that in 2020 Gatekeeper Media will cover the entire PDGA National Tour as the official MPO chase card provider. The circuit kicks off in March at the Texas State Disc Golf Championships in Tyler, Texas.

Gatekeeper currently boasts just over 14,000 subscribers on YouTube, and they were the team who was able to capture Matt Bell’s chase card triumph at the Delaware Disc Golf Challenge. Still, they don’t just cover the pros: Gatekeeper’s Am Worlds final 9 coverage was a highlight in 2019, and they’ve dabbled in women’s coverage with in-the-bags and tournament videos.

“We know we are still the new kids at school, but we are excited to team up with the PDGA to hold the title as the official chase card provider for the 2020 NT season,” Scull said. “Tune in for your alternative source for disc golf coverage.”

Though there will be one tournament where Gatekeeper will shift to the third MPO card — the Dynamic Discs Glass Blown Open, where Dynamic Discs will cover the chase — the ability to have the same team at every event is one of the PDGA’s goals for the coming season.

“Chase card coverage is increasingly important on the professional scene,” PDGA Communications Manager Steve Hill said. “Without it, fans would have missed out on seeing how the Portland Open playoff developed or how a PDGA National Tour Champion was crowned. We’re beyond excited to see Gatekeeper commit to hitting the road in 2020 and helping to provide a better event experience for tournament directors, players, and spectators.”

In addition to subscribing to their YouTube channel, supports can contribute to Gatekeeper’s 2020 efforts now by checking out their offerings on Patreon

The PDGA will announce more media partnerships for the 2020 National Tour throughout the week.
