After a long day that included back-to-back shotgun-start rounds, the 2016 PDGA United States Women’s Disc Golf Championships (USWDGC) pushes on, now with just one final round remaining for the ladies here at the beautiful Sabattus Disc Golf complex in Sabattus, Maine. 2012 Pro Women’s World Champion & 2013 USWDGC Champion Sarah Hokom #34563 has led the event through each of the three rounds thus far, extending it to four as we head into the final round this afternoon.

The professional divisions joined by the Advanced Women’s division took on The Hawk for both rounds 2 and 3 on Saturday, a par 60 18-hole layout that measures in at 6600 feet. Although its length comes in just 400 feet shy of its counterpart, The Eagle, it plays much easier, with less of the out-of-bounds creek coming into play during the round. Less risk equals more reward, and the players who hit their lines and hit their putts moved up quickly in the ranks.

Sarah Hokom’s morning round score of 59 (-1) allowed for players like Paige Pierce #29190, Catrina Allen #44184, and Madison Walker #59431 to close the gap. Both Paige and Catrina shot the hot round of 55, moving Paige into 2nd place just one stroke behind Sarah. Catrina moved into 3rd place from the chase card, three off the lead and Madison moved up from the third card to snag her spot on the lead card for round 3, tied with Zoe Andyke #39504.

Sarah was determined to remain at the top and made a great recovery during round 3 to open up the lead once again. Seven birdies and two bogeys later, Sarah finished with the hot round of 55 (-5), matched only by Madison Walker, who is now tied with Paige Pierce in second place, four off the lead. Joining them on the lead card will be Holly Finley #51277, whose round of 57 (-3) allowed her to jump up from the chase card, replacing Catrina Allen.

Nearly all of the other 11 divisions have extremely close races going on as we head into the tee-times this morning, beginning at 9:00am EDT. See the table of lead cards below to get an idea of just how close some of these divisions are with only the final battle for the title of 2016 US Women’s Champion remaining.
