I just found out the demise of my MRV. It had been lost into a temporary retention pond. When the pond dried up, the disc was gone. It turns out the local neighborhood kids had been wading in it, taking discs out, and keeping them. I assume this is where it disappeared to. So the final answer to the thread is "into a pond, and stolen by grabby kids." Sorry to interrupt, carry on.

Jed,
On behalf of the entire disc golf community, I would like to express our deepest sympathy for your loss.
We have no choice but to take your advice and
Carry On (http://tinpan.fortunecity.com/vanishing/958/sound/midi/CSNY/Carry_On.mid)

<FONT SIZE="-2">(I considered changing some of the lyrics, but the original ones seemed so appropriate I left them alone)</FONT>

One morning I woke up and I knew
You were really gone
A new day, a new way, I knew
I should see it along
Go your way, I'll go mine and
Carry on

The sky is clearing and the night
Has gone out
The sun, he come, the world
is all full of light
Rejoice, rejoice, we have no choice but
To carry on

The fortunes of fables are able
To sing the song
Now witness the quickness with which
We get along
To sing the blues you've got to live the tunes and
Carry on

Carry on
Love is coming
Love is coming to us all

Where are you going now my love?
Where will you be tomorrow?
Will you bring me happiness?
Will you bring me sorrow?
Oh, the questions of a thousand dreams
What you do and what you see
Lover can you talk to me?

Girl when I was on my own
Chasing you down
What was it made you run?
Trying your best just to get around.
The questions of a thousand dreams
What you do and what you see
Lover can you talk to me?

In Too Deep (http://web.agria.hu/kepenu/genesis/invisibl/intoodee.mid)
by Jedidiah L. Brightbill

All that time I was waiting, for my MRV, it started me thinking,
Wondering what if its not in the pond, Id be jonesing,
Asking all kinds of questions, to myself, but never finding the answers,
Crying at the top of my voice, no one listening,
All this time, I still remember everything you said
There's so much you promised, how could I ever forget.

Listen, you know I love you, but I just can't take this,
You know I love you, but I'm starting to weep,
Although I need you, I'm not gonna take this,
You know I want you, but youre in too deep.

So listen, listen to me,
You must believe me,
I could see the disc go under,
But I don't know why.

I know you're going, but I can't believe it's the way that you're leaving,
It's like we never knew each other at all, it may be my fault,
I gave you too many reasons, being alone, when I didn't want to I thought you'd always be there, I almost believed you,
All this time, I still remember everything you said,
there's so much you promised, how could I ever forget.

Listen, you know I love you, but I just can't take this,
You know I love you, but I'm starting to weep,
Although I need you, I'm not gonna make this,
You know I want you, but youre in too deep.

So listen, listen to me,
I could see the disc go under

It seems I've spent too long
Only thinking about my disc
Now I want to spend my life
Just chasing those grabby kids.

Listen, you know I love you, but I just can't take this,
You know I love you, but I'm starting to weep,
Although I need you, I'm not gonna make this,
You know I want to, but youre in too deep.

I don't know why I didn't drive
I left you by the tee pad five
I don't know why I didn't drive
I don't know why I didn't drive

When I saw the break of day
I wished that I could fly away
Instead of kneeling on the pad
Catching teardrops in my bag

My heart is drenched in beer
But you'll be in the clear
Forever

Out across the green fairway
I would die in ecstasy
But I'll be a bag of 'clones
Driving down the hill alone

My heart is drenched in beer
But you'll be in the clear
Forever

Something has to make you swerve
I don't know why I didn't drive
I feel as empty as a merv
I don't know why I didn't drive
I don't know why I didn't drive
I don't know why I didn't drive

"The Kids Are All Grabby" (http://home.t-online.de/home/martin-antonio/thekidsarentalright.mid)

When Jed was young the future was so bright
The old disc golf course was so alive
And every newbie on the whole dmn street
Was gonna make it big and throw 400 feet

Now the disc golf course is cracked and torn
Jeds all grown up and his discs are worn
How can one little pond
Swallow so many discs

Chances thrown
Nothing's free
Looking for my MRV
Still it's hard
Hard off the tree
Fragile discs, shattered dreams

Jed had a chance, well he really did
Instead he dissed the Roc and picked another lid
Marks screwed at home 'cuz he ****** off his wife
He plays pocket pool, but still he swears alot

Nick committed publicide
Keith TD'd and then he CRIED
What the hell is going on
The cruelest dream, reality

Chances thrown
Nothing's free
Looking for my MRV
Still it's hard
Hard off the tree
Fragile discs, shattered dreams

I Don't Know How To Throw MRV (http://www.angelfire.com/ma2/Gem2/images/idontknowhowtolovehim.mid)
(merv)

I don't know how to throw MRV
What to do, how to move MRV
I've been changed, yes really changed
In these past few days when I see my Roc
I seem like someone else

I don't know how to throw MRV
I don't see why MRV moves me
It's a disc, it's just a disc
And I've had so many discs before
In very many ways, MRV's just one more

Should I bring MRV down?
It is stuck in tree,
Over two meters!
Let my feelings out?
I never thought I'd come to this
What's it all about?

Don't you think it's rather funny
That I should be in this position
I'm the one who's always been so calm
So cool, no disc's fool
Running every show, MRV scares me so

Should I bring him down?
It is stuck in tree,
Over two meters!
Let my feelings out?
I never thought I'd come to this
What's it all about?

Yet, if MRV said she loved me
I'd be lost, I'd be frightened
I couldn't cope, just couldn't cope
I'd turn my head, I'd back away
I wouldn't want to know
She scares me so, I want MRV so
I love MRV so

Board Monitors! PLEASE REMOVE CHING MAGNET'S LAST POST! CLICKING ON IT (DOHA) CAUSES SOMETHING TO TRY TO INSTALL AND CAUSED AN IMMEDIATE SYSTEM SHUTDOWN ON MY WINDOWS 2000 PC. IT WAS THE FASTEST I'VE EVER SEEN A COMPUTER SHUT DOWN, ALMOST AS IF IT HAD LOST POWER. MY WIFE, DIDN'T BELIEVE ME AND TRIED IT ON HER XP BASED PC. UPDATE: I ONLY THOUGHT MY WIFE'S XP BASED PC ESCAPED. IT SHUT DOWN AND RESTARTED AS WELL. THERE WAS AN .XML FILE THAT WAS DOWNLOADED INTO HER SYSTEM AND IT CREATED AN ERROR REPORT WITH ALL KINDS OF NASTY THINGS IN IT UPON RESTARTING.

CHING MAGNET, IF YOU'RE STILL WITHIN THE TIME LIMIT FOR POST EDITING (WHICH I DOUBT) PLEASE EDIT YOUR POST AND REMOVE THAT LINK.

ANYONE ELSE, PLEASE TO NOT ATTEMPT TO PROVE THAT I'M A NUT JOB BY CLICKING ON THAT FOR YOURSELF. I'M JUST TRYING TO SAVE YOU A HEADACHE.

If it was an .XML file, then do the Help/About button and report your browser level too. I've been keeping mine pretty current (for Win2K) to try and prevent stuff like that. If it is a .WAV file, then what Media Player are you using to play your WAV's? I think my MS Media Player is up in version 9 already...

A good friend of mine in high school grew up to play in Ace Frehley's band "Frehley's Comet" all through the 80's and 90's, all the time Ace was on his own. He played guitar behind Ace, and his job was to stay at the back of the stage and play guitar while Ace would be out front being the star, but my friend was a much better guitar player than Ace so most people would listen and the guitar would sound really good and they would think Ace was really great, but really the good licks and riffs were coming from my boy from Carmel High School class of '73, who was rocking from the back of the stage and trying not to upstage his boss Ace Frehley.

Guy named Richie Scarlet (http://www.kissasylum.com/KissHell/rs_interview1.html). Way better guitarist than Ace. Way better showman too but Ace was the star so Richie had to play second fiddle. Last time I saw them was 1996 and Richie was on stage with Ace and Peter Criss right before Kiss got back together and Richie found himself unemployed when they did.

Love ya Richie! Keep rockin!

While we were Waiting Inside, Out of no where, some Soldier told us this tale about Public Enemy No. 1.

There was this Crazy Wolf Obsessed with Li'l Red Riding Hood.

"Mercy Mercy", the Stranger howled in lust.

"This is Taboo" she cried. "Stop! Stop! Don't Hit Me."

"But Don't You Know I Need You ?", he implored. "It's an Emergency."

Her rebuff to his Action of Subterfuge was Quite Disappointing and his Silent Anger soon caused him to Shake until the Titanic Reaction made him feel So Greedy. His evil High Energy Plan was to commit a most Nasty Nasty Crime - Homicide.

Why? Nobody Knows. So Long as I'm Alive I'll feel No Pity for him.

This puzzling piece of plastic has always been a challenge for the common disc golfer. Even with diligent practice, this Discraft conundrum has reduced many a player to blisters, bogeys and broken dreams.

RIT and NASA have sent a team of scientists to excavate an old testing grounds, near an abandoned cannabis field outside Walled Lake, to search for documents which may reveal clues to solve the mystery behind the unique design that has been taunting Recreational Man for years.

I only count 1947 posts. We still need 53 more before we hit 2000.

To Roc or to MRV, that is the question:
Whether 'tis nobler for the game to suffer
The slings and arrows of Discraft's fortune, or to take arms against a sea of MRV's.

And by opposing end them. To play, to throw--
No more--and buy a Roc to say we end
The heartache, and the thousand natural trees
That discs are heir to. 'Tis a consummation
Devoutly to be wished. To throw, to ace--
To ace--perchance to dream: ay, there's the rub.
For in that ace of Innova what dreams may come

We are also blessed today to have the World Curling Championships on NBC.
I am on the edge of my seat.

Apr 20 2003, 04:42 PM
I think it's nice that they sweep up after curling.

Spent the last year
Rocn Innovas way
Couldn't get much higher
Out to pasture
Think it's safe to play
Time to rip a hyzer

And we don't need Jedidiah
Cryin' 'cause he throws it bad
'Cause Rocn Innovas way
Is better than the disc he had.

Well he's tellin' us this
And he's tellin' us that
Changes discs ev'ry day
Says it doesn't matter
Ace run to go for
And Jed is at tee
Drivin' it in the bay
Time to change his platter

And we don't need the newbies
Cryin' 'cause they throw it bad
'Cause Rocn Innovas way
Is better than the disc they had.

Yeah, yeah, yeah

Shhhhh Ching- It was a ploy to get premature #2000 posters.
I'd like to make a motion that posts #1999, 2000, and 2001, be reserved for Ching Magnet. I make this motion not to discount the efforts and contributions of others. They are all greatly appreciated, and cherished. I feel strongly, however, that the heart and soul of this thread has been Scott. I also suspect that he has #'s 1999, 2000, 2001 already in his head- if not on his hard drive./clipart/wink.gif

I was going to stand back and allow others to take the honors.

This thread thrives when many people across the nation participate. It is at its best when there's a group, inspired, searching for obscure references, going off on weird tangents, free flowing in a stream of consciousness that spans the depths of human experience, and silliness, and sheer and utterly unabashed stupidity, all for one common goal - to solve the riddle of the MRV.
