A very chilling way to pay homage to the MRV with the passing of the legend Rodney Dangerfield. I think that the MRV may be getting a bad rap. I use it for short drives that I want to hyzer at the end. It may not be the worlds best disc, but can't we find other discs to pick on?

Come 'n listen to my story 'bout a boy named Jed
Poor MRVer scores are always in the red
An' then one day, he was throwin' rather crude,
When up flew an ace by an Innovar dude.
Roc that is! Plastic gold! Pure CE!

Well, the first thing ya know, ol Jed's a Roc playr
Web-folk said, "Jed, move away from there."
SaidInnovi R the discs y'oughta play,
so Jed loaded up his bag, and moved to Vir-Gin-I-A
Lynchburg that is! Sess pools, home movie stars!

Ol' Jed bought a dormroom. Lawdy it was dank
Bunkmates feet, boy, they sho really stank,
Jed never objected, tho the odor made his cringe,
'Cause ol' Jed's moonshine was a-layin' in the fridge
Grain, that is! 100 proof, tastes like terpentine!

Well now it's time to say goodbye to Jed and his mountain frin
An' we would like to thank you Jed fer kindly droppin' in.
You are invited back again to this web locality,
T'the thread called How do I throw my goddamn MRV?

O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree!
Why did you catch my MRV?
O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree,
Why did you catch my MRV?

Not only in the summertime,
But even in the winter league.
O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree,
Much grief doth thou bring me!

For every year the Christmas tree,
Catches the MRV.
O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree,
Much grief doth thou bring me!

O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree,
Why is there a two meter rule?
O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree,
The Swedes will think I am such a fool.

Each bough doth hold a disc you see,
That makes each player curse at thee.
O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree,
Why did you catch my MRV?

Jedidiah, the green disc golfer
had a crappy MRV
and if you ever threw it
you would even say it blows.
All of the other golfers
used to laugh and call him names.
They never let poor Jedidiah
join in any disc golf games.

Then one foggy tourney eve
ChingMag came to say,
"Jedidiah with your disc not right
won't you try my Roc tonight?"
Then how Jedidiah loved it
and now he can break par three.
Jedidiah, the green disc golfer
he'll through out his MRV.

How to throw his yellow MRV

I just got a 174g MRV. I took it out for about 30 minutes and didn't have very good luck with it. I was wondering, what is an effective flight path? It was shooting up high in the air, and if I threw it lower, it didn't fly very far. I also threw turnovers, and it would turn over quickly, but also come back very quickly. I was getting flutter coming out of my hand. The rim is shallower than my Roc, and that might be the cause of the flutter. So basiclly my question comes down to this: How do I get this thing to fly well?

A couple years back I watched a friend ace with his neon green Z-MRV...and I remembered that I happened to have an MRV in my used~archives...right down to the exact color and weight. Took it out for 'another' test~spin the next day...and promptly returned it to the archives, BUT in the 'stacks to be sold or given to a newbie'...
This whole thread is devoted to this disc...and I just can't/don't get it!!:mad::mad:

Well yesterday by now.

To clarify, by the time of my MRV's tragic departure into the afterlife of little kid's scavenging hands, I had learned how to throw it over 300. It was becoming a second driver. And then the herniated disc happened among other things.

Feb 27 2005, 07:47 AM
Some of you may find it comical to joke around about my herniated disc, but three separate doctors have told me to avoid all sports since I was diagnosed, including running, and as such I've been sidelined for what's going on a year. On top of that I've had back and leg pain for nearly two years since it first happened, which makes daily living a difficult task at times. The icing on the cake is that the only pain killers I can take that work have all been recalled by the FDA for causing heart attacks. Joke about my MRV, I don't mind at all. But joke about an injury which has prevented me from playing my three sports and made just plain living a painful experience, and you've crossed the line. Grow up and learn boundaries.

Worse than it has been for a while. I figured a year and a half was enough of a break from ultimate, but nope. Got back to college and was playing, some [I'm a potty-mouth!] knocked me sideways in the air and I landed on my lower back. I'm on Mobic and Lortab right now but none of them do a thing for the pain. So it's just time now, and I really can't get back into anything for at least another year or two.

The MRV rocks. Straightest disc I've ever known. Great thing about it is the grip. A lot easier to grip than other mids.

The MRV is more understable than the buzz, wasp, or drone. Those discs are great for hyzer, but for full mids with zero fade.... gotta be MRV.

Yeah, what he said....
I have buzzzes, and Wasps. They are very nice discs if you're throwing them hard. For slow shots from about 200' in, it has to be the MRV! A lot of people use putters for these shots, but I just dont like throwing a fat disc that far. I have yet to find any other disc with a grip that feels as nice as the MRV!

I put a basketball on the ground in my back yard, and stand about 150' away. I'll throw 5 MRVs at the ball at a time. When I hit it, it knocks it around the yard. You get a lot of different angles doing this. I have gotten to where I can hit the ball at least 3 out of 5 throws every time. Then I will turn around and make runs at the basket.

I havent found anything that helps my short game better than this!

Z comet is good.
gt buzzz good
MRV= Bad

You can throw the same shot with a buzz as the MRV, and the buzzz is not near as squirley... Maybe its just me but I am getting rid of most of the "situational" discs in the bag, MRV fits that bill good for downwind midrange shots with little or no trouble, do yourself a favor, "get a Buzzz :D"

GT Buzzz = Crap
Midntight Buzzz = pretty good

Wasp = almost the same as the MRV

MRV = Money

Michael, Innova rates the roc as straight to slightly overstable (0 turn, 2 fade), while Discraft rates the elite x mrv at 1, and the z-mrv as "slightly more overstable than the elite x mrv," which, from what I'm seeing is bang-on. For me, rocs fly pretty miuch dead straight with almost no fade, while my z-mrv tails off 10-12 feet toward overstable on 200-250' drives. I'd be interested in hearing Jedidiah's take on the stability of an mrv vs. a roc.

Really? What am I doing wrong? I throw my Elite-Z Mrv (173 grams) and it slowly veers right (understable) about 30 feet on throws going 225-250'.
I've got a wasp (beat to hell) that goes straight on same distance. Am I doing something wrong here?

I saw a man once do a 360 run-up thumber. I don't think it was a MRV, but for the sake of this thread, it was definitely a MRV. It was the best I've ever seen one fly. He also threw it with his weak hand. He was a player that would throw backhand righty and forehand lefty... not very useful. The secret was the MRV. Just do a 360 and use your off hand and you should be fine.

There are countless ways of throwing an MRV, but any road to achieving one's maximum distance and accuracy must be built on a bedrock of respect for the MRV, a commitment to excellence, and a rejection of mediocrity.

Throwing an MRV is an attempt to come to terms with life. There are as many solutions as there are human beings.

BUTTERCUP: We'll never throw an MRV correctly.

WESTLEY: Nonsense -- you're only saying that because no one ever has.

An essay on how to throw an MRV

Let us commence a journey into the much travelled topic of how to throw an MRV. In depth analysis of how to throw an MRV can be an enriching experience. While much has been written on its influence on contemporary living, it is important to remember that what goes up must come down. It is an unfortunate consequence of our civilizations history that how to throw an MRV is rarely given rational consideration by the upper echelons of progressive service sector organisations, who just don't like that sort of thing. Hold onto your hats as we begin a journey into how to throw an MRV.

Social Factors

Society begins and ends with how to throw an MRV. When Thucictholous said 'people only know one thing' [1] he created a monster which society has been attempting to tame ever since. Spanning divides such as class, race and uglyness, how to throw an MRV smells of success.

Of paramount importance to any study of how to throw an MRV within its context, is understanding the ideals of society. Clearly it promotes higher individualism and obeyence of instinct. As soon as a child learns how to throw an MRV they are changed.

Economic Factors

The dictionary defines economics as 'the social science concerned with the production, distribution, exchange, and consumption of goods and services'. We shall examine the Lead-a-Duck-to-Water model, as is standard in this case.

How do we explain these clear trends? It goes with out saying that housing prices cannot sustain this instability for long. Supply Side Economic Tax Cuts Tax deductions could turn out to be a risky tactic.

Political Factors

The media have made politics quite a spectacle. Comparing the general view of politics held by the poor of the west with those of the east can be like comparing how to throw an MRV and ones own image of themselves.

To quote award winning journalist Demetrius H. Amster 'consciousness complicates a myriad of progressions.' [2] He was first introduced to how to throw an MRV by his mother. I feel strongly that if politicians spent less time thinking about how to throw an MRV and put more effort into their family life, that we would have a very different country.

The question which we must each ask ourselves is, will we learn how to throw an MRV to win our vote?

Conclusion

To conclude, how to throw an MRV deserves all of the attention it gets. It brings peace, brought up a generation and is always fashionably late.

Let's finish with a thought from star Sigourney Paltrow: 'My Daddy loved how to throw an MRV and his Daddy loved how to throw an MRV.' [3]

Victory attained by violence is tantamount to a defeat, for it is momentary. Victory attained by throwing an MRV is the path to eternal glory.
