Finally, the MRV gets to 1,000!!!! According to my search, I only posted on this thread 11 times. I thought I had more meaningless things to say than that.
Maybe someday I can make Rodney's coveted list of the top ten posters....or even double digit posters...(without posting on a Texas thread.)
In my next life I would like to be reincarnated as Eddie Haskell....or maybe Eddie Van Halen.
11? I had that many deleted.................

Please don't let this thread die. This has been one of the few threads that has brought humor to a board usually filled with smack talking, debates, arguing and name calling.
It's one of the reasons I check it out everyday, just to see what off the wall thoughts flow through the mind of Ching.
And Ching the last I heard Eddie VanZant (sp) has left the J Giles band to start playing lead guitar for the National OB/GYN Philharmonic Orchestra. Their new name will be Van Hymen.
So the lead spot is open for you once you are reincarnated.
I got Van Hyman's promo CD yesterday...no, wait...last month.
They do a hot cover of Bo Diddley's "Mona". Eddie & Dike Dale play "Eruption" together - Eddie finger taps while Dick shreds. Plus some old classics, "Atomic Pink" and "Bottoms Up".
Word is their going on tour with The Cramps.

The pileated woodpecker, Dryocopus pileatus, belongs to the Picidae (woodpecker) family. It is found throughout most of the U.S., although it is thought of as representing the wild forest.
This fairly common, crow-sized bird is the largest of all the woodpeckers. Only the now extinct ivory-billed was larger.
The pileated is a mostly black bird with much white flashing conspicuously on its wings when it flies. Only the male has the brilliantly red crest.
The pileated is such a spectacular bird that it has garnered many names over the years, such as great black woodpecker, wood kate, log-****, ****-of-the-woods and good God woodpecker.

Speaking of an MRV thread pop quiz - we're well over a thousand - time to vote on the top post from the first 1000.
First post to get 7 votes wins.
As usual - everyone will find an annoying way to break the rules because they'll feel so damned self-important after this post so we'll never actually have a clear cut winner, but the rules are - vote once - that's it - it's the first post you vote for that counts. Please include the date and time of the post to make verification and review easier for all MRV-ites involved.
I cast my vote for:
By rick black on Saturday, November 10, 2001 - 06:09 pm:
Abba
The timing was brilliant - it was right in line with the absolute anarchy that the MRV was quickly beginning to represent - bravo rick, brav-o.
My best was the chung chick check post - but Abba's subtlety was too much for me to pass up in the voting.
Dehhhh deh de neh neh neh neh neh, dehhhhhhhh deh neh neh neh neh nehhhhhhhhhh
Do I get an assist for Abba with that set up?
Interesting choice, subtle and effective. Good choice.
I'll cast my vote soon.

The lead singer of Abba (Patti Smith), wrote those lyrics when she fell in love with the lead guitarist of ZZTopp (Ewell Gibbons).
Nice Texan twist while referencing Fernando. I pictured Patti Smith's rendition of Dancing Queen. Nice example of choosing an alternative format and of working a silly thought into a more colorful and detailed image.

Dude im a novice and i play with a few pros advanced and ams etc. Your passing up oportunity man. Your the ace pilot now what do you do. $uck it up and stop crying, think man! Get the most overstable ba$tard of a disk you can find and start practicing skip aces. Your blowing the best practice of your life. If you cant park at a 300 do to power. You need to crash land it and the new plastic is the way man. FireBird Big skipper man it takes all that energy and plants it for you. Now dont be afraid of the overstable love it, its your best friend on the short course. Let me ask you this who doesnt want the ace money ?
Yea thats what I thought, start hitting it low the skip should peek at the basket height and you should close your short game. This is ace time for you.
This is Jerry Springer and next up we have two dogs with mississippi leg hound blood lines and their Miss Owner/lover with a touch of S&M. So stay tuned, well be right back!!
I think Randy and Ching hurt themselves with too many good posts to chose from, so my vote goes to Morgan for this one:
Gene Simmons had a guitar player who played disc golf incredibly well. He could ace freely.

I just got a 174g MRV. I took it out for about 30 minutes and didn't have very good luck with it. I was wondering, what is an effective flight path? It was shooting up high in the air, and if I threw it lower, it didn't fly very far. I also threw turnovers, and it would turn over quickly, but also come back very quickly. I was getting flutter coming out of my hand. The rim is shallower than my Roc, and that might be the cause of the flutter. So basiclly my question comes down to this: How do I get this thing to fly well?
I love the part about Jed having flutter coming out of his hand.
Wasn't flutter the substance Bill McMurray discovered in the Absent Minded Disc Golfer?
I'd have a hard time throwing my MRV with that stuff coming out of my hand. /clipart/wink.gif

I can't help I like the MRV better than the Roc. Once I got a few more throws in with it I can't go back to a Roc. When I can throw it 300 feet, I don't think I will go back to my Roc. Sorry.

Best Post in the Thread is a no-brainer:

The key to throwing the mrv is the location of the shot. First you must find a lake, pier, cliff, bonfire, or trash can.
Dawn Wells (http://www.dawn-wells.com/) sang "Take Me Out To The Ballgame" today at Wrigley. The PA announcer introduced her as Ginger from Gilligan's Island (honest). What a dolt. Everyone knows the sexy redhead was played by Louise Lasser.
I thought that was Tina Martinez. After her acting career fizzled, she was a top notch catcher for the Mets.
Dawn is originally from Winfield, Kansas (honest). Also the home of Harvey Wallbanger and the Fizz.
