Routing is a little wonky and not intuitive. Some great holes in an iconic setting. Pretty good upkeep. Some holes and fairways are on top of each other and can get confusing with the combination of players from all different levels and wandering park users. SF needs more public disc golf courses and the builders have a lot to learn from the problems here.

Fun course with a nice layout. It was so packed, though...sooooo slowwwwwwww. I've played a few other courses in the area, and only DeLa was better.

Did not get to play the other park in San Fran, which may have resulted in me giving this park a 4, but this park was wonderful. Different tee placements, obs, and technical pin placements which kept you thinking about which throw to make all make this course fun to play.Would definitely go back here and play again!

I also have some bias as its in my back yard.

I've played a total of 5 courses now, including De Laveaga, and the SF course tops the list. Extremely well and actively maintained by local pro Patrick Brown and a small crew of die-hards, the pins are constantly moving, and the holes keep getting better every time I play them.

The front 9 is a nice tight trail through the woods, challenging the player to control his disc, while the back 9 offers an excellent change of pace, with generally longer and more open holes, allowing players to really let loose.

A ton of fun, and worth the trip into the city to play!

I have some bias toward this course since I learned to disc golf on it, & since its basically my backyard. That said, it's pretty glorious. There are 3 pin positions for each hole, and some have 4 or 5 positions. The volunteers take REALLY good care of the course, eliminating poison oak from all of the high use areas and you can tell they have some gardeners on staff too because aesthetically it is very comfortable and appealing. This is a really busy course due to its location in GGP, especially on the weekends. Weekday, and early morning sessions are the best to avoid crowds. Watch out for oblivious joggers, bikers, recyclers, and tourists; they pop up in the weirdest places. You will definitely feel like you're in a forest while you play all 18 holes because essentially you are. Lots of 420 players, and it's basically faux pas not to play with a cooler in tow. On the right day, several people will be around selling food, beverages of the alcoholic variety, and discs too. Trash cans at each tee and the pin locations change quite often which keep locals like myself on their toes. Come experience this great course in all its charm and glory!

For a disc golf course smack in the heart of a major city, this is a great course. Three pin placements on each hole that change pretty regularly. The local club takes great care of the course. The only cons are that it gets super crowded and it doesn't have any true par 4s or 5s. A couple of "long bomb" holes or even a few alt long tees would make this a five.

Great course in a beautiful location. Real tight course with a lot of diversity. Careful on a Sunday morning you will run into the weekly. Played the tournaments temporary mandatories that were posted and it added extra challenge. Pretty easy to follow course, but beware some fairways cross one another and can put you into headache territory. This is a very busy course and park. Walkers, joggers, and some aggressive direction lacking recyclers all add to the course. Very clean overall and would definitely go back but more likely on a weekday. Golden Gate is a definite must visit course.

This is by far the best disc golf course that I have played. The weather is great, it's in the heart of golden gate park so it doesn't feel like you're in the city even though you are, and there is a large variety to the different holes to keep you interested and challenged. You just have to see it for yourself, it's a VERY good course.

Great course!!! I have fun everytime I go to this place! Great layout. Only thing that suck is that some of the holes play as par 4's but other then that it's well worth checking this place out! Careful on weekends though lots of players and lots of pedestrians!

Awesome course, great layout that you would never guess could be possible in the middle of a major city. This is a challenging course that is really fun to play.

This might me the coolest disc golf course I have ever played. Every hole was outstanding and well laid out! Good mix of lefty and righty holes with good elevation changes. Your right in the middle of the city but you feel tucked away while your playing. None of the holes are very long but nothing is super short. Just a very fun course to play. I played it twice on back to back day so all the pin placements were the same. Would love to play all the settings!!!

This is a nice course in the heart of San Francisco. It is really accessible either by public transportation or free street parking on JFK inside the park. The course is solid, it requires many different shots to score well. Although, nearly the entire course is wooded, there is a nice mix of tightly wooded/technical, relaxed woods/open holes. This course has a few of the extras that really make disc golfing here great. First, concrete tee pads on all holes, this creates a wonderfully consistent first drive opportunity, as you are not fighting for footing or space. Second, incredible signage, GGDC has signs at every tee box indicating length, pin position, and some idea of obstacles. Each sign has a rotating diagram which can be changed for the corresponding pin position, which is invaluable, as there are 3 - 5 possible pin positions for each hole, which change often. There are also trash receptacles at nearly every tee box. There are only a few negatives at this course. The course is in one of the most popular parks in the U.S., so there is quite a bit of pedestrian foot traffic, which simply requires a little more grace and patience as you golf. Along with that point, this course is often very crowded, there is often a long train of groups moving throughout the course, which again a little grace and patience can take care of. Another negative is its lack of length, there are hardly any holes which you can just open up on. This is a great course and alot of fun. I recommend it to anyone in the San Francisco area.
