APPLING, Ga. — The PDGA World Championships are the most prestigious events on the disc golf calendar, and the PDGA recognizes the importance of ensuring that international invitees have every possible opportunity to participate.
Due to the continually evolving status of international travel restrictions, the PDGA will be holding 30 spots for non-North American MPO invitees and 15 spots for non-North American FPO invitees at the 2021 Professional World Disc Golf Championships, set for June 22-26 in Ogden, Utah.
Should it become necessary, similar measures will be put in place for the other 2021 PDGA World Championships, including Amateur Worlds, Junior Worlds and Masters Worlds, although specific plans for these events are still being developed.
Encouraging developments, including the widening availability of vaccines and indications that the U.S. Government may ease travel restrictions in the upcoming months, have given hope that the impact of the pandemic on international participation may be limited. In the meantime, the PDGA is actively working with government officials to determine eligibility requirements for international members seeking to obtain a P-1A Athlete Visa. We will publish this information as soon as it becomes available.
Additional updates regarding the 2021 PDGA World Championships and the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic will be made on an ongoing basis. For more information, please review the COVID-19 Frequently Asked Questions.
