The 2013 PDGA Professional Disc Golf World Championships returns to Crown Point, Ind. from August 3-10 for an event filled with excitement and surprise. This event will be a sight to see with its highly competitive player base of 304 players and a total purse of over $75,000 up for grabs. These players come from all over the world to represent their states and their countries in the race for the coveted World Champion title.

This year the event unfolds at Lemon Lake County Park in Crown Point, Ind. and Hidden Lake Park in Merrillville, Ind. throughout the week. It begins with the Field Events at Hidden Lake Park and finishes with the lead card tackling a safari final nine holes at Lemon Lake to determine World Champions. 

Field Events will be held at Hidden Lake Park on Saturday, August 3 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. This event was previously scheduled in a different facility but changes have been made to the official schedule. Be sure to check out the updated schedule that has been posted.

Lemon Lake County Park, commonly called the Lemon Lake Disc Golf Complex, contains four different courses. These courses range widely in difficulty and have all been strengthened, extended and made much more challenging since the 2010 PDGA Professional Disc Golf World Championships. 

The complex has been a stronghold in the Indiana Disc Golf scene with a presence since 1999. Originally 18 holes and growing over time, the courses present a challenge to every competitor. The most recent changes to the course formats in 2013 are said to be the most difficult to date.

Designed by 2013 Pro Worlds Tournament Director Brian Cummings through years of steady development, the venue is sure to please. In 2011 the Lemon Lake Flight Center opened its doors and has provided  an on-site pro shop and a central building for players and spectators to gather. This Flight Center is a great place to check in and see where the best action for the day will be. Spectators are welcome to drop in and enjoy the action. It is free to attend and well worth the experience to see all of the world’s top competitors on the same stage.

There are several notable names on this years list of competitors. Paul Mcbeth and Sarah Hokom enter this event as the 2012 World Champions and are hungry to repeat their title in 2013. In 2010 Eric McCabe and Sarah Cunningham left Crown Point the victors and both return to this year’s list of registrants. With the increased difficulty of Lemon Lake County Park these courses present a completely different venue than in 2010. Of course, there are always the rest of the talented top pool that will tee off on Tuesday, August 6.
