Who We Are
For 15 years, a group of volunteers in Western North Carolina has built one of the country’s most consistent scholastic disc golf leagues.
Western North Carolina High School Disc Golf (WNCHSDG) supports and facilitates school-based disc golf clubs while providing free, PDGA-sanctioned interscholastic competition for high school players in and around the Asheville and Hendersonville areas.
March is Women’s History Month in the U.S., and we want to feature a group of movers and shakers in the NorthEast. Hopefully, this group will inspire more women-only Clubs to take shape and grow!

Where It All Began
On the first cool weekend of December, as soft light filtered through the sycamores of Pasadena’s Hahamonga Watershed Park, people began drifting into a place many of them had never truly left.
Some traveled hundreds of miles. Some lived just down the street. Some had been throwing plastic here for half a century. Others had never played a PDGA event until this weekend.
But all of them came home.
For three days—December 5–7, 2025—the birthplace of disc golf became a living scrapbook. A reunion. A love letter. A promise.
Here's how we brought to life what we believe is the first PDGA-sanctioned disc golf tournament within the National Park System—The Artillery Ace Disc Golf Tournament at Fort Pulaski National Monument. We hope our journey helps others do the same.
At 65, Eric Bilow has faced more challenges than some. Diagnosed with Stage 4 throat cancer at age 59, his complications began as he began fighting the invisible disease that nearly took his life.
For over two years, treatments, surgeries and multiple recurrences to overcome it were the focus each day. Released from the hospital on a walker, a tracheotomy and a permanent feeding tube, he had to relearn how to eat, speak, breathe and adapt to his new life.
