Disc golf in Ethiopia began its journey a decade ago, driven by passionate individuals and supportive organizations. The African continent’s first PDGA-sanctioned event was the 2018 Ethiopian Open, and marked the establishment of East Africa's first 18-hole disc golf course at Assosa University. This period (2015-2020) showcased significant growth for the sport in Ethiopia.
However, the COVID-19 pandemic brought challenges, as the subsequent civil war resulted in devastating humanitarian crises, impacting the growth of disc golf in the country. The conflict lasted until a peace agreement was signed in November 2023.
In response to the request of Turgen Club, this summer, within the framework of the Marco Polo program, for the first time in Mongolia, PDGA delivered 9 permanent baskets and discs to the Turgen Club grounds through a grant.
Greetings from the beautiful city of Chiang Mai in Northern Thailand! We would like to once again express our appreciation for the PDGA's support of Thailand Disc Golf!
The PDGA is pleased to announce these three countries, on three different continents, as its latest national partners, bringing the total of affiliated countries to 52 — 54 when USA and Canada are included.
The votes have been counted for the 2024 PDGA Elections, which took place through the month of July with 112,665 ballots sent to eligible PDGA members. Of those, 11,995 ballots were returned, which is a participation mark of 10.65%. Participation was at 14.9% in 2023.
During the first week of the elections, beginning July 1, all current PDGA members as of June 25 for whom the PDGA has a valid email address will receive online election instructions and their individual ballot. The PDGA will send the ballot weekly to those who have not yet voted. Voting ends July 31.

“And now, we head to the most epic first tee in disc golf.”
Organizers of the European Disc Golf Festival hosted PDGA staff this past week in Tallinn, Estonia on the hallowed property of the Tallinn Song Festival Grounds.
A year ago, the Local Organizing Committee, led by Director of Operations Matthias Vutt, hosted the European Championships. This year, the EDGF is on the Disc Golf Pro Tour Elite Series. In 2025, the event will hold PDGA Major status.
Kristin Tattar had put herself in a great position with a 9-under first round of the Professional Disc Golf Association Major European Open, four strokes clear of Eveliina Salonen. But it was the Finn who put on the best showing in Round 2, where she especially excelled from hole 7 to 13 picking up 5 birdies claiming the overall lead in the tournament.
However, on hole 17 Eveliina saw a birdie putt turn into a double bogey, giving up a stroke to Tattar, meaning the two of them were tied for first going into the last hole.
The highly anticipated PDGA Major 2024 European Open is finally underway and on the challenging Monster layout at the Tampere Disc Golf Center in Tampere, Finland, it’s been a battle for birdies all the way though.
No players have managed to play bogey free, but in the FPO division, Kristin Tattar has picked up where she left off after winning the DGPT Europe Elite Series Krokhol Open last weekend.
For the 12th-straight year, Team USA was celebrating on foreign soil as the 2024 Presidents Cup kicked off the 2024 European Open festivities on Wednesday in Nokia, Finland.
The team event, the only one of its kind in professional disc golf, features some of the best players in the world squaring off against one another before the annual PDGA Major kicks off. The combination of stroke and make play serves a tuneup for the EO, which kicks off on Thursday.
It's been all Team USA since its inception, and it was all Team USA from the start on Wednesday.
Krokhol proved to be a much harder challenge as the sun gave way to the sizzling rain on the last DGPT Europe event before European Open next week.
The tough conditions meant that not a single eagle was had throughout the day, but the amount of double bogeys had increased by a considerable amount however.
To prove just how much the rain affected the field, not a single player managed to take an eagle on the final day, whereas they had treated the spectators to 12 in the previous two days – nine of which were on hole 18, including Anthony Barela’s absolute park job on Moving Day.
What a great showing we got on the second round of the DGPT Europe Elite Series Krokhol Open presented by Latitude 64!
Birdies were chased throughout the day and the leaderboards certainly look different after the second round. Across both divisions, only 7 players of the 149 players remaining have stayed in the same positions after a round that provided a lot of highlights.
And everything was in place for a perfect day of disc golf. The venue at Krokhol Disc Golf Course, the best rated course in the world on UDisc, makes for spectacular viewings, and when the best players in the world battle it out in near perfect conditions on this warm summer’s Friday, well, then something special is bound to happen.
With just a single bogey throughout the round, she finished R2 with a 1022 rated -7 round, taking her to 5 under par for the tournament so far.
She now sits tied for 1st place with fellow Finn, Silva Saarinen, who after taking bogeys on the first two holes, found the level we have seen from her in the last months and finished -4 for the round.
The annual PDGA Elections take place from July 1 through July 31 every year where members vote for the PDGA Global Board of Directors, the PDGA Europe Board of Directors and the PDGA State & Provincial Coordinators.
The course at Ymergårdens Discgolfcenter in Borås, Sweden, proved a challenge with its tight wooded fairways and several OBs that come in to play, which María Eldey Kristínardóttir, described as birdieable, so long as you are able to hit your line and angle.
Two candidates will be vying for two open positions on the PDGA Europe Board of Directors. These two self-nominated candidates share a passion for disc golf. They have diverse backgrounds and a wide range of skillsets, both in their professional lives and within the sport.
PDGA Europe is a nonprofit organization registered in Finland. PDGA Europe's bylaws establish a Board of Directors to engage in oversight and strategic planning. In addition to holding an annual summit meeting, the PDGA Europe Board and staff conduct monthly teleconference calls and ongoing communication to accomplish required business and organizational goals. The Board’s main activities include: setting PDGA Europe policies and priorities; hiring and supervision of staff; financial management including approving the annual budget; identification of suitable future Board candidates; representing the membership’s interests; and continuing the rapid growth of disc golf in Europe.
Two at-large Board member positions will be elected this year. The election will take place throughout the entire month of July.
The two candidates who receive the most votes will serve three-year terms from September 1, 2024 to August 31, 2027. For additional information, please see the PDGA Elections page.
Here are the two candidates who are ready to help take disc golf to the next level, along with their background information and statements of intent:

Heading in the final FPO round of the DGPT Europe Elite Copenhagen Open. Eveliina Salonen is closing the gap on Kaidi Allsalu and is now only 4 strokes behind: this sounds promising!
Hole 1: A very precise Kaidi gets the birdie, and Eveliina's approach touches a branch and ends in OB. Easy approach, we are still cold... and OB again! She misses the putt, triple-bogeys, and is 8 strokes off the lead in one hole... The excitement is over.
