Request For Proposal (RFP) for International Disc Golf Center Amateur Course Design

Background 

The Professional Disc Golf Association (PDGA) is a 501(c)4 nonprofit member organization and the international governing body for the sport of disc golf. With over 100,000 active members in more than 60 countries, the PDGA is the largest disc golf organization in the world. 

The International Disc Golf Center (IDGC), located in Appling, Georgia, USA, is the headquarters of the PDGA. 

Description 

The PDGA is seeking a disc golf course designer for a new course at the IDGC. PDGA will be the Owner of the facilities. 

Proposals must include the information requested within this RFP. In addition to and separate from the requested information, organizations submitting may provide supplementary materials further describing their capabilities and experience.

Overview 

The general scope and budget are as follows: 

  • Location: International Disc Golf Center in Appling, GA. USA
  • Owner: Professional Disc Golf Association
  • Scope of Work: Design of a course for use in tournament and casual play. Safety of users and minimization of environmental impact are to remain paramount in all design considerations.
    • The course will be designed primarily for amateur players. Multiple hole configurations through tee and pin placement are encouraged to cater to a larger range of skill.
    • Land available is approximately 45 acres.
    • Design should try to avoid any existing trail systems in the design of the course. They can be utilized for pathways to get to these areas, however.
    • The new course at the IDGC will be accompanied by a championship-caliber course, as well as a short course for newer and less-experienced players. 

Project Details

The PDGA will be responsible for: 

  • All construction and installation activities
  • Course naming and sponsorship

Proposed schedule:

  • Design start: October 2026
  • Design completion: March 2027
  • Target construction completion: Summer/Fall 2027

Proposal selection criteria:

  • Total proposed design fee
  • Donations of time, materials, equipment, or funds to support the course and IDGC restoration
  • Experience/resume of proposed designer 
  • Ability to meet proposed schedule
  • Completeness of application materials
