Feil opened action at the 24th running of the USADGC with five-straight birdies on Friday, en route to an 8-under, bogey-free round at the Toboggan course at Kensington Metropark in Milford, Michigan. The Illinois native cooled slightly after the strong start, but kept it clean for the only bogey-free round in the 148-player PDGA Major field.

His only OB of the day came on the daunting 18th, but connected from 39 feet to save the par and the clean sheet. Hole 18 played the hardest on the day, averaging nearly a stroke (0.96) over par with just two birdies carded.
