2025 College Disc Golf National Championship - Day 1 Recap
Emporia State's Atlanta Krueger had fun playing disc golf on Wednesday to open the 2025 College Disc Golf National Championship.
It showed when it mattered most.
Krueger put together four-straight birdies coming down the stretch of the Final 9 of the Women's DI Singles on Thursday to erase a two-stroke deficit and claim a national title on the very last hole.
"Sometimes my mental game is my biggest struggle on the course," Krueger said. "But today, disc golf was fun."
The No. 1 player in the final College Disc Golf rankings, Krueger connected on a big birdie putt on the seventh hole of the final nine to tie things up with Liberty's Grace Wilson after a back-and-forth start. She tied things up on the next hole, an OB-surrounded 676-foot par 5.

The two had separated from the field with Clemson's Noelle Erb climbing three spots in the final nine to finish third, five strokes back.
The CDGNC format averages both players' singles scores to jump start the team standings. Team action begins on Thursday with Emporia State leading Liberty by one stoke and Clemson by two.
Jesse Longenecker dropped the hot round on the iconic holes of Winthrop Lakefront early in the day on Thursday and waited for someone to catch him.
It didn't happen.
The Eastern Mennonite University freshman turned in a 9-under, 1067-rated round to open Division I singles to take a three-stroke lead into Thursday's final nine. Longenecker finished as strong as possible, deciding to run a 70-foot eagle putt on the 18th to cap a 4-under score over the final three holes.
Redeemer's Kalan Schat is in second place, three strokes back. Mary Hardin Baylor's Jaden Rye and Emporia State's Cade Kohlmeier round out the lead card, tied at 4-under with Trinity Western University's Jacob Visser and Charlotte's Zizzy Newell.
