2023 PDGA Masters World Championships — Day 2 Recap

Thursday, July 13, 2023 - 04:20

New names emerged at the top, but the leaderboard remained tight at the 2023 PDGA Masters Disc Golf World Championships.

Hot rounds and big jumps highlighted round two on Thursday in Flagstaff, Arizona. Twelve of the 25 divisions feature a new leader or, in the case of five of those divisions, co-leaders.

The entire field will return to the first-round courses on Thursday and here’s a look of the action heading into Round 3:

Johansen, Leiviska Stay Put; Finley Rises

Michael Johansen and Cale Leiviska kept their spot at the top of the MP40 leaderboard and Holly Finley caught fire to become a co-leader as well.

Holly Finley went bogey-free on Wednesday.

Finley dropped a 990-rated 50 at Little America Crew, the hottest round by four strokes on Thursday to pull to a tie with Ohn Scoggins, who had the second-hottest round at 54. Stephanie Vincent and Sandi Hendel kept their spot on the lead card.

In MP40, Johansen and Leiviska were two of five hot rounds to keep their spot up top. Joe Rovere matched that round of 51 and is one stroke back in third. Josh Anthon will round out the lead card at 15-under, tied with Martin Hendel and three back of Johansen and Leiviska.
