MPO Ranking Criteria

Each player is ranked across several categories based on their performance in a given year. The player's Average Rank is then used to determine the player's Historical World Ranking.
  • Worlds     Weight 2x   Participants 150   Max Rank 30 (20%)
  • USDGC     Weight 1x   Participants 178   Max Rank 36 (20%)
  • Adjusted Tour Finish Average (aTFA)   Weight 1x
    Average finish at "Tour" events. From 2003 on, National Tour events are used. Prior to 2003, Tour events are based on top player participation and player surveys.
    • Min Tour Events 2 (20%)
      If a player finished more Tour events than the minimum or their Worlds finish is better than their worst Tour finish, that player's worst Tour finish is dropped from the adjusted TFA.
      Worlds finish is used with a 20% multiplier per missing event (e.g. 1.2x, 1.4x, 1.6x) to reach this number of events for adjusted TFA.
    • Max Tour Events 4 (30%)
      Maximum top Tour finishes used for adjusted TFA
  • Rating   Weight 1x
    From 1999 on, end-of-year player rating is included as a rank.
  • Wins   Weight 1x
    Total number of Tour and Major wins.
  • Tour Cash   Weight 1x
    From 1990 on, total cash prize earned in Tour events (excluding Majors) is included as a rank.
  • Max/Default Category Rank 12
    Players with missing category ranks or with ranks higher than this will receive this rank for those categories.
  • Dropped Ranks
    From 1990 on, each player's worst non-Major rank is dropped from their average Rank if that rank is worse than the player's Worlds finish.
