This week after we finish the concrete work, let's Powl & cook out. Who's bringin' what? If Edman is home from NY, I'll be there with the tools & basket by 2:30 - he wont be coming :( We need wheel barrows & shovels this week as well as all the concret tools & water, the truck can't get to a lot of the holes we're doing, so there will be a lot more work. Should go fast & smooth just like last week - we're old pros @ this now. :)

Isn't this club already a sausage fest? What's a girl got to do to get somethin' to eat other than sausage? jk I hardly eat out there anyway.

I doubt we'll have time to play this week Ware, even with it being only 9 boxes, there will be a lot more labor with having to transport the concrete w/wheel barrows - we need atleast 4 (1 filling, 1 dumping, & 1 walking each way to or from the box). This is our chance to really shine as a club, this is show time. RR :D

Apr 17 2007, 06:00 PM
Are we meeting at 13 and then picking trucks to go to boxes?
And are we starting the pours on #9?? Which holes can't we get the truck to?? Remember, like Rusty said, all concrete trucks have enough gear to reach out 16'. The guy last week only had his out 6' cause they were so easy to get to, we may need to tell driver to put on all his booms so we have a better chance of getting real close to holes he won't/can't get to.

seewhere
Apr 17 2007, 09:39 PM
for sure on the extra booms I will tell Tim to let him know. Yes meet at 13 and only try and take 2-3 trucks to go to hole # 9. I think we should start there and work down hill towards c hole or if we think more weight in the truck would help him get closer to the C hole tee box maybe we should start there otherwise hole 9. still meet in 13's parking lot and than we can make some more decisions.

Doubles has gone on long enough - if ya'll aren't screered to see what you really throw @ the Rock, I'd like to move on with 10 weeks of singles. I'd like to payout by divsion (Pro, Masters, & Am), but not set up cards by division. I know that means you don't know what the guys in you division are doing, but it makes it more fun as you wont be playing with the same people for the next ten weeks. This makes it a little easier on me for sign up & cards (please don't ask every freaking week if you can play with JD or who ever) & better than just straight up singles where Keith May can never beat Jimmie therefore not wanting to pay. $5 seems to be working good for everyone, so here's what I see. $5 buy in $1club, $1ace, $3pay out by division - Pro, Masters, Ams, done weekly (still no league). What feed back do we have for this. Don't get your freakin feelings hurt if I used you as an example, they're just examples.

vinnie
May 17 2007, 03:23 PM

Sounds great to me. And with a role of duct tape I COULD beat Jimmie. Not real sure I can make it after being off since last wednesday. Will try real hard to just depends on how much work has piled up in a week. I do know that cooking after the round this week is out. My brother in law and I have played a round of golf (18 holes at least) 6 of the 7-days he has been here. So this old man is tired, dead tired and a week of work to make up in 3-days. Yes Ware did putt with driver, mini, bag,my cart whatever was close to him down the stretch. But even with his ear plugs in and singing way off tune to whatever he was listening to, still loads of fun. 5/0 showed up again about 8-ish and watched the few late hangers for about 5-mins. Old settlers will be having their firework show next wednesday and will not let us on the course due to afternoon activities like free water melon and rides face painting & etc for the kids. Or do we take next week off and play on your own whereever you wish for that night?? Wilco would be nice but the way the weather has been might be closed. I'll be there rain or shine but more than likely RAIN!! I have baggies for the cards if anyone needs one. Another big storm is due to hit us this afternoon sometime around 6pm per the weather man from 6am this morning. Count your blessings you don't live in marble Falls. See all who are MAN/WOMEN enough to show and play tonight>>.

The Rock didn't even flinch in the face of all the rain that's happened.....what an awsome place to play golf each week!

johne
Jun 28 2007, 11:35 PM
The Rock is under water! Holes around the lake that is!!!

You can barely see the top of #1 basket.
#2 is totally under water.
2/3 of #4 is under water.
From #4 basket to #5 teebox, the 1/2 way point between those 2 locations is the waterline!
#16 is completely under water. Including the basket!

Not sure how this happened! It didn't rain that much last night!

The water was roaring behind the dam by C hole.......it won't stay flooded long but how the heck did this happen!!!???

johne
Jun 28 2007, 11:38 PM
isn't it ironic, after my post previous to the last one. Geez!

Something upstream, or maybe the dam release pipe(s) were clogged. Wild!

Jun 29 2007, 11:35 AM
well obviously due to the rains the last few days......things went from looking perfect Wed afternoon after Tue night's big rains......to raining Wed night again and the lake being freaking flooded as hell on Thursday 5pm. The winter course holes.....nothing really soaked.....so thats what made me freak out.......

had to have been all the runoff finally making its way to the lake. The only thing feeding that lake (besides the sloped ground on either side of the lake) is that little creek that goes along 1/2/3/4..........it didn't look "washed over" where that creek goes under the road.

Guess that's what caused me to wonder how it happened.

BTW I'm not making this stuff up. But like i said, the raging water by C hole meant it was draining fast.

Someone post what it looks like today.....i won't be by there again for a while

seewhere
Jun 29 2007, 12:08 PM
someone post some pictures.. I have seen it like that before it will drain fast but we will have allot of trash on the course once it does.

For the 1st time in month's (maybe just weeks) we will have a nite with SUNSHINE and DRY condition's. Weather is looking good for wednesday this week and I plan on getting out early (in the 2:30-3:00pm range) and cleaning up the dirt on the tee pads. If anyone else is getting there early, feel free to bring a broom, shovel (square edge) and maybe a weed eater and we can kill several birds with one stone. If you would like to help out and don't see me or my truck at our pavillion, feel free to call me at 784-7252 and I will let you know where I am.

we have about 15 more weeks prior to daylight savings ending. are we wanting to do a handicap league next from the scores we are keeping now?

may
Jul 17 2007, 04:45 PM
Not sure. We can bring that up tomorrow, but one thing about using these scores to figure handi-capps, would be to use them on the big course. To use them on the winter course we would have to adjust them a bunch to get close. Remember a few years back when I cashed every week for 8-weeks using the big course numbers on the small course?? Yall adjusted me back till I no longer cashed. So it would have to be discussed before we do it.!!

Might want to look at the radar @ weather.com in regards to rain. NOT that that would keep us from playing anyway, but there is a rather LARGE front coming up from the south. I will be out to course with last weeks club money (32.00 dollar/16-players) in the 3:30 range and was going to work a little on the rock pile on c-hole depending on weather. If it is raining or looks like rain I will set up sign up under cabana. Don't let a little storm keep yall from coming out for a nice round of golf today. It beats the heck out of being inside watching it rain. In fact, if we could get a couple of baskets we could powl if the sh-- hits the fan with the storms.

We will begin collecting scores tonight for the next season. We'll take the next 5 weeks of singles (or how ever many you make in the next 5 weeks), average your scores & issue handicaps based upon par 63. We'll play handicap (with adjustments made every 2 or 3 weeks to you handicap) for the following 10 weeks until time change.

was Rob Feather and Joe-Bob there last nite?? I have no idea what was taking so long and what to do about it in the future. Some people play fast some steady and some just plain slow.
Lost a white sidewinder on c-hole (again) but only took the allowed 2-mins to look gave up and moved on. Will try to find it later along with the other white sidewinder I lost on the same hole 2-weeks ago. I'm not saying I'm the fastest golfer in the club nor am I saying I'm the slowest. Its a league nite and sometimes people who have had a rough business day or a bad day at home just don't care how long it takes as long as it keeps them from whatever it was they wanted to get away from. We are not asking for a time limit per hole are we?

That would be JohnE and El Chilli from last week. As for the ace beer, don't you have to be 21 to purchase beer?? Might be waiting on the Ace Beer for a year or 2 more! Going to be a hot one today, so drink a bunch of water before during and after round today. But Yes, you can intake bruskie as well!!

Be sure to post how the "handicap" golf works out. We are currently toying with the idea to run a handicap league.

ok 2 chances left to improve on your handicap. also if you won a CTP don't forget to bring one with you tonight. I will probably head out a little early and hang out under the tree and reminisce about the old days.

hello round rockers, im sorry ive been away during this time of loss, i went to ftw on wed the 8th and didnt have a computer near by. when i was at the players meeting for the p.i.a.o. a prayer was givin for ricky and that he had died, that was how i found out. i know i havnt been around very long but i did have the plesure of knowing ricky, he was on (along with keith may) my card the first mini i played at the rock when i moved down here from dallas. and welcomed me with open arms. i allways got to set in his truck when he ran the cat hallow mini and we talked about the things that was going on. i felt close enough to him to tell him about my then up coming divorce, and he had some good advice for me then and it made me feel better, and ill never forget it. he had a great bunch of friends in the RR and he'll be missed. chris you like to play the tough guy, but the cat is out of the bag you were a good friend to him and you have a big heart, but ricky is up there smiling :) knowing you'll be taking my money in our side bets. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif so ill see everyone on sunday take care.
ps no wise cracks about the miss spelled words or gramer.

We have a couple of Bdays to celebrate- JohnE wants to cook out as do I. JohnE has coals, I will bring fajita meat and tortitas. I have not bought the meat yet so if someone else has meat that they want to use instead- post it up and I will grab beer instead. First day of Dragon season and I'm looking to put my +19 handicap to good use

Aug 22 2007, 12:03 PM
I'm not sure about that Vince as I have still have the last 2-weeks score pads and the money. I could be wrong though.
Lala and C-ware, only have 2-score cards for tonight, please bring more if you can. Cooking out after sounds good. Saw Leslie (Ricky's wife) last nite. She is doing ok considering, but she could use some company or an invite to dinner. And we should include her on our club parties list. It would really make her feel good to be around Ricky's golf family.
