What the heck is powling?

powling= bowling with discs and baskets. how have things been going Rob?

Powling is bowling but with disc under the pavillion after the round while we cook. We have two baskets (lanes) set up at about 30 feet and its 10-frames. Strikes or spares nothing else and its scored using bowling rules. Its really a great time.
That starts around 6pm and lasts about 45 min - 1 hour. you should make it out Thumber. tree was in the house last week for the first time in 4-5 months. :eek: :eek: :eek:

What counts as a strike and what counts as a spare?

On another note did you guys read about the game they played at a tournament where 1 disc must travel the course as quickly as possible... a guy on the tee on 1, another by the basket on 1, another on the tee on 2, another by the baske on 2 ....etc... then they time the disc and see how quickly they can get to complete the course.. It was in the DGWN in the back... pretty cool ... I bet RR would take awhile but the article was interesting... checkitout

strike is made putt from 30 feet, spare would be made putt from which you missed at 30ft. Or worse yet is if you miss your first putt and go OB you have to try and make your spare from the 30ft line. Again that starts at 6pm so if you can't make the tee time of 4pm you have time to make the powling at 6pm. Come on out feather, you will love it!!! We are at hole 14 pavillion. :D:D:D

As long as we play ready golf and not allow people to take a lot of time. But we only have a few weeks left till 3/11/07 (earlier daylight savings time) this year. We should be fine for the next few weeks as long as we get started at the stated time and not wait for people who call in and say they will be there in a few minutes.

Agree with Larry T.! As long as we are teeing off at 4:30 and not walking to our tee boxes at 4:30 then should be fine. Cloudy days will get dark quicker though as we know. What time will we be teeing come time change??? :confused: :p

usually when daylight changes we dont cook since we will be finising around 7:30 or later.. we can stay where we are and just start there and play the big course.

That way we have holes 13,15,B,C,12,16 as where with hole#1 start we have alot further to walk and more people have to drive to holes (which still might happen but less people i would think) and less holes to start on (1,2,3,18 and 4 if you like that walk). I say lets try it as we are now and go from there. :o

Freekin' great - unless you count how I played - which was like arse. Edman did have the hot round of the tournie, but couldn't quite hold it together. We live & learn. Like learning how to get the F up more than 40 minutes before your start time after partying like a rock star on Saturday. I thought I knew better, atleast I only poured & did not drink the tequila going around Saturday night, cause that would have made the round even better Sunday as I was still a little buzzed when I got to my tee (5 minutes before the round started). :o

WOW 28 golfers for the last winter league round.. Good times for sure thank you to all that brought stuff out to eat and drink.. what a great club. now I see why we have so many new people showing up every weds..

Man what a nite last nite!! Everything was great, people, food and powling (oh how I am going to miss powling). Thanks to the club for grub, Ricky doing the cooking andeverything that went with it. Summer league is going to have to STEP up BIG to compete with the things that go with WINTER league. Again, thanks to the best **** golf club in the world. :D:D

i'm willing (sniff) to sacrifice an extra hour Wed evenings, so that i can hang out after the round and cook and maybe putt. Perhaps there's some others that feel the same way....i know that was the case my first and second summers playing minis at the Rock (03 and 04)....we had plenty of cookouts!

Anyone been to the Rock in the past 2 days? We've had about 3-5 inches at the house before I left today. If there's water on 16 & 17, we'll do one more week of winter course. The brigde may be closed if it continues raining today, so we may need to come in the back side by Wal Mart. We're still starting @ 5 on hole 13's basket, random draw.

that was awesome last night of everyone agreeing to donate to Ricky. that is what makes the DOUBLE R such a great club. next week I hope it is dry. if anyone is going out today Lori lost an orange disc by the tree next to the bridge by hole # 4 and Philip threw one in on 16.

Hey Chris, I have an old basket that the pole screws into a wooden base. the basket that catches the disc is plastic (from Laddie Matula) and a set of double chains all to spec. The base can unscrew and the rest will be intact. Can that fit in the back of your truck. It fit in my old truck with a cover. I want to donate that to the auction. Let me know if you want me to bring it Sunday or Wednesday?

I heard Ware even helped to get the pigs in the truck, well, was told to help by the ranch owner, Ricky's brother. But had to put on gloves to even do that.
