Alright Wise.... IT"S ON NOW!!! . I was just trying to make you feel good that day for all the hard work you've been putting in for the worlds, but since you feel the need to publicize our cash game results....let's do it again!!!!
$20 this time. I'll await your response.

OUT!!!

Well I accepted his challenge and if you noticed Big Dave didn't respond. Why might you ask?

Because he didn't win one dime from me, thats why. I led him through 12 holes then had a blow up but came back to tie him on the final hole. :D

Lets see, in my book, he lost the first match, then called me out for second match and the end result is, I still have his money. :D

Want some more Nicholson? :o
I've got your number. ;)

WOW Big Nic...you gonna take that from a half-crippled old man?

Anyone that has time, go to Dovillio and work in the dirt around the tee pads. Clear the extra concrete and dirt and move it to theholes in some of the fairways.

Bring Shovels, that should be all you need.

Thanks

Thanks for the info Dave,

Zooc, If you have put in 10 minutes of work you have quadrupled him up.

Apr 19 2006, 03:08 PM
You can't forget COACH

He did show up a few times to tell everyone how to do the work.

The last time we called Billy out he did come hold the poles a few days later. You would know he wanted the job of holding the poles. Maybe he decided not to come out after he didn't get the pole to spit when he was jerking ooooooorrrr shaking the poles :o

twoputtok
Apr 19 2006, 03:12 PM
I only left him off because I actualy saw him touch a basket.

But after last night, when he tolds us all "you are all good men", while we were working and not even an offer of help or "what can I do"

I thought screw you.
Does he even work, every course I have ever been to during the day to check on things, he is there playing.

What a bum. :o

But Devin?

Com on, he was there last night, talked to Deil and when Deil moved to another pad, Dev & Johnny got their bags and went and played. The when he was on hole 14, I hollered at him to go offer James some help instead of playing all **** day.

I can help in the afternoon on friday. what time will people be working at mohawk friday?
also, I played the new Haikey for the first time yesterday, and its pretty tough. Those first 3 holes are killers. I also had two casualties, one was a red valkyrie w/a kansas city wide open stamp on hole 13 in the creek bed, and the other was a red starfire with a light taped on the bottom behind the basket on hole 1. These are two of my favorite drivers, so if found I am willing to buy them back or trade some plastic for them, my initials SEM are on the bottom, and there is another name on the valk too, i think it says matt shannon. Thanks, and great work on Haikey guys it really looks great

On 13, the disc was short of making it over the creek to the left of the basket. I think it is buried in some of those leaves. And on 1, it was long and to the right of the basket, just at about the tree line. If i have a chance between classes, I might try and squeeze in a short roud out thee, so hopefully they will turn up

The Golden George (http://www.pdga.com/tournament/tournament_results.php?TournID=5641&year=2006&includeRatings=1#Open)

This was our gold setup, longer, tougher placements with added roped OB. SSA was a hair over 60 the first two rounds, then on a longer set up for the 3rd round SSA was 62.

It was brutal. And I blew up during the last half my the 3rd round too. :mad:bummer - that should have been a 1037 rated round....oh well. :p

.
... TOO COOL ...
.
... we'll keep "focus" onto Mohawk ... in the meantime , here's a little "catch-up" info. about Haikey :
.
so , at present , Haikey aint much to look at the Tee-Signs are kinda ug-ly , but are marked accurately for Hole # and distance the tops of Baskets are showing correct Hole #s , most with masking-tape & marker the Layout is tough on your score , but its supposed to be some of the Woods-Holes remain rough between now & late-June , Ill smooth the edges a bit on a couple of those it is designed to be a harsh test of a Players Disc-Golf skills and it is exactly that
.
to update : we can finally get some good looks at possible water-retention if only we can receive some major rains for a few months were keeping a keen-eye on several areas my new Rules-Sign needs a coupla more coats of paint , & Ill get it rebuilt & out there Ill leave those ugly tee-signs up for now , but will later get those out to one of my Body-Shop connections for a fresh coat of paint well have new signs drawn up with all info. corrected and get them laminated it was mentioned to me to maybe leave the Basket #s as is until early July , so the new Numbers will look as fresh and pristine as possible I already have replacement numbers for those plates guess Ill play that by ear because putting them on correctly is time-consuming in a few weeks , in early July : my time may not be my own
.
theres a little more detail needed to snipping out more staubs and small stumps along Hole 15 , 16 , 2 , and 3
.
Hole 3 Basket may move out and over a bit into a little clearing time will tell
were getting there come on along for the ride

and a little mo Update early May will see some TDSA weeknight Minis returning Riverside for starters the first two Tuesdays -and- the first two Thursdays of May will have minis out there teeing off at 6:00pm watch the traffic , watch your watch , get there e-a-r-l-y and sign up the Ace-Pot starts with zippo , but will grow from there
.
this is a double-edged sword actually gets Players out playing in organized TDSA minis , helping Club funds also , probably the best way to announce Work-Days or special events when you think about how many Club Members there are (as well as non-member Players all over town) that can be a large body-count those of us that visit this thread on this Message Board would amount to only a small percentage of that number the time is nigh were knock-knock-knockin on Summers door

Riverside???? No one in town is going to get any better playing that course.

Don't you want to give the locals a chance to warm up on the worlds courses until July?

If any of EWES are seriuos about how you want to do at the Am Worlds, I would suggest staying as far away from pitch and putt courses and go get some training in at Mohawk. If you can manipulate your way around those courses, you will be ready to take on EVERYONE that comes to TULSA.

I have been barely playing any golf since we found out we were getting AM Worlds, but when I knew I was going to play a NT against the SUPER-PROS I knew I needed some work on my game, and I got the training I needed at Mohawk. I'm $1200 richer thanks to training at Mohawk, and I assure you it had EVERYTHING to do with training at Mohawk.

Take Dave Nicholson for example, he's been out at Mohawk training with me and he cashed in OPEN at Chandler even after getting rolled off the kegstand crashing all 6'5" 280 lbs of BIG FELLA to the fetal position. :o

Just trying to look out for the locals...I want all of EWES who play AM WORLDS to give your very best and practicing at the RIVER sure isn't going to help at all.

If your out at Mohawk, take a Wal-Mart baggy and help with the trash PLEEEEEEEASE! ;)

wforest
Apr 25 2006, 06:36 PM
... that's why they're called "minis" ... :D
.
.
... nah , but really ... if anyone can get out to play at Mohawk , do so ... carry a trash bag ... make it a point to leave it cleaner than you found it ... "scope out" the Course -and- ask others where you can help ... by all means ...
.
.
... or , play Riverside , Reed , Chandler , McClure , & the Mack > to work on your "approach game" ... ;)

wforest
Apr 25 2006, 07:46 PM
... seems like every year at this time we have conversation along those lines ... during the first coupla months -and- the last coupla months of DST ; the ol' Sun gets skimpy on the horizon too quickly to play the longer Courses ... Is anyone willing to invest their $1200 winning's in those of us that are willing to work for food?....If so, I would like a Big Mac and a small order of fries.

We will be at Mohawk working this Saturday and Sunday. All 36 baskets have been installed and one repaired from being hit by a car or truck. The upside is there was still lots of paint on the basket, car paint that is. :D

We need weed eaters, shovels and lots of hands, we will be preparing the tee pads for the Black course. We need to dig out all 18 and get them ready for a May 13 pour and then pour another 18 on June 3rd. We need lots of help! If you come, we will provide food and drinks while you work and for those worried about tics, Furdog will give each of you a personal grooming to make sure your clear. :D

We should have 54 tee signs arriving soon, so that means 54 holes to be dug and 54 poles to be put in. Still lots of work but We can now see the light at the end of the tunnell.

Since we probably don't need to worry about mowers out there, will it be necessary to dig the tee pads at 4 inches deep? With all the water that collects out there it seems like you would want them more or less above ground since they will probably sink anyway. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Dale, Dovillio still needs the excess dirt moved to low areas of the course. Other than that Dovillio is done. I know Saturday is supposed to be wet but maybe we can get as much done as possible before the rain and Sunday after it has moved on.

Scott, yes the pads at Mohawk will be raised due to water concerns. The pads should be at least two inches above ground and we can fill dirt around the edges so there is no steep drop offs. Digging the black course should be a breeze, as the ground out there is perfectly soft.

We will try to have a bobcat to dig the red course, that area has harder ground and those pads will only be about an inch above ground.

We will be elevating about a dozen tees out there, and a bobcat would be perfect. I am shooting for tee pads out there by June.

After this weekend I will be back at it hard....Finishing up Mohawk....It is getting VERY close. A few more days of work and it will be ready for play on all 18.

Zooc will be out and about at MOHAWK saturday ...It looks as if he will have the brush hog with him. Zooc had a fender bender today so we will touch base on the details later today of what is going to be going down this weekend.

... KelDog sez : there might not need to be any digging for Mohawk Black tee-pads as soft as the ground is , he thinks that a motorized Tamper would suit best you simply beat-down-the-soil and flatten it out for your wood forms to surround this actually is best because it would help keep them from sinking later your finished tee-pad would be 2-3 inches above ground (as it should be out there) later , you can ramp-up at the back of the Pad ; and ramp-down at the front with dirt

It looks like Zooc will be your emcee at Mohawk saturday. I'll have him post the time he can make it out there.

The jobs list.

Constructing the bridges between holes 9 and 10 and # 18 tee to fairway. If Zooc can't get the poles over by friday, we may need a trailer to go get them. The bridges should be a pretty big job.

Zooc will also have the brush hog. He will need a little help clearing some young trees so that he can get access with the brushhog into some areas.

Holes 12-18 all still need alot of prunning and trimming work...

12- right around the tee area needs cleaned
13- we need to pole saw a few areas in the fairway, as well as clear a path for zooc to get the brush hog in
14- we need a polesaw for the tree immediatly left of the tee-box it's over hanging into the fairway. The green needs to be cleaned
15- and 16 just needs another quick run thru with loppers to get the small trees that are right off the fairway that we missed the first time
17- loppers and maybe a chainsaw to clear a path for ZOOC and the brush hog
18- we need to find someway to construct a bridge to get accross muddy area.

Hole # 5 the big dogleg left. We need to trim the left side of the fairway from the trees that we already cleared all the way to the basket. That is about 125 feet that someone needs to clear the bigger stuff so Zooc can come in with the brush hog.

This should be a substancial list of work to do out there this weekend. I'll be back working weekdays starting next TUESDAY

Man there was enough dirt around Hole # 1 @ dovillio
to fill my little pickup all the way up.... :(
Anyway, sorry I was only able to completely finish
teepads for holes #1, #16, #17.
Hole #1 took alot of my time obviously.

The idea of a bobcat sounds great
Is there anyway we can get a small equipment company
as a sponsor so that we can get access to equipment at some sort of discounted rate if not donated ?????

There seems to be something very wrong with moving dirt twice.
It seems equivilant to digging a hole and filling it up again.
I don't want to burn up all of our man hours just pushing dirt around.
Preping pads and removing dirt later with a Bobcat seems the best solution.
Anyway just my 2 cents.

Also as I was dring my truck overloaded with dirt to #18 fairway,
there were 2 disc golfers that proceeded to play thru while I unloaded a whole truck load of dirt.
No offer to help, Nothing...
Kind of hacked me off.
Some of those people who crawled out of the woodwork
as Mr. Wise said.

Alright I am done.

Thanks Dale, I know that was a lot of work. Idealy the dirt should have been loaded into a truck when the pads were dug. I will be checking on equipment deals today.

As for the golfers, do what I do.......give them so much crap that if they see you they go the other way, at least they don't hack you off that way.....out of sight, out of mind.

I think by the time we are done with this, there may only be a handfull of people even willing to golf with me. But those are the people I would rather golf with anyhow. ;) As for the others, watch out, I've been know to shank a shot or two. :D

It is a sad day. We were just informed that one of our Akansas disc golfers was lost yesterday. Denny Reeves. Denny was a great guy, golfer and volunteer for the sport. We will miss him very much.

The below post is from the Darrell Baily in Arkansas.

For those that have not heard. I got a call last night from Ganzel and was shocked, upset and saddened to hear that our own Denny Reaves was killed in a fire at his apartment early wed. morning. I don't know all the details, all I know is he is gone and disc golf will never be the same for me. I still can't believe this has happened and he won't be at the park this Sat. or taking a road trip to Tulsa to help clean up. I have lost a very good friend as I know others will be just as upset when they hear the news. I ask all who read this to keep his family, especialy his two young daughters,in your prayers and give them the strength to get through this difficult time.

Well Dale Patterson, Zooc and myself worked until we were rained out. A little dissapointing that there were only three of us. No rain until 2:00pm. We used the cutters and did 16, 17. opened up the green on 14 and cut trails from the baskets to the tees. There is still more to do and we have the cutters rented until Monday morning, so come out and give it a run for a while.

We need people with gloves and rakes to clean out what we cut and pick up the newly exposed dead wood, so that Zooc gan get through with the mowers. Next week should show some big improvements on the Black course if we can get people to pick up the dead wood. Bring gloves and give us some help. ;)

If you can help and have any questions, give me a call in the morning. 232-8562

From Yesterday:

The bulk of the work crew was out there by 10:am and didn't quit working until 4:30. Four of us went and played a round on the Black course after that and at 6:00pm Joyle Deering and Billy Juby were still working.

We cleared the tee around hole two, all of 17, the tee around 3, the fairway and green area around 3. Hole 5 has had more clearing done and all along the left side of the woods has been cleared. Hole 6, the area in the middle of the fairway has been cleard and the green has been opend up. The path from 6 to 7 is now done and 7's fairway and green area have been clreaed out. We didn't get 12's tee area yet. Hole 13 has been cleared down the fairway and the green area. We still may need to clear the right side of the fairway. Hole 14 has been cleared at the corner on both sides and down the left side all the way to the green. The path from 13 to 14 is now done also.

We still need a lot of wood picked up and piled up for the city crews to get rid of before the brush hog and mowers come in.

We have also begun staking the tees for the black course and will continue on those Friday and Sunday, with concrete to follow the weekend after on the 13th.

We will need LOTs of help on the 13th for pouring the concrete all day long and volunteers to watch the pads until they set or when the park closes at 9:00pm.

Thanks to all those that came out yesterday, we had a great crew and thanks to Kelly Watson for buying lunch for the volunteers.

Mohawk is getting very close to completion. We still need help out there for a few more weekends and it will be ready for Worlds.

You had just better practice on keeping it in the fairway on the Black course or the poison Ivy fairy will be visiting

We now have a new standard to tell how bad a person's shot is on that course. Evrey 10 feet off the fairway will result in approx 3-4 ticks. So 10 ticks and you're about 60ft in the shule. :D

We could use some "make-shift" bridges on a few holes at Dovillio...those ditches could be too difficult for the MASTERS to manage. :D

As a soon to be Am.Master, those are next. Waiting on more scrap pallets for Dovillio. :D:D:D

Soon to be Am Master???? You should really consider a diferent division. The way you dodge playing in the pro ranks is very lady like, you should consider getting your WOMENS card :o

Crutch,

PLEASE PLEASE give me a reason why you won't even move up to PRO masters? If I could just hear just one reason (good or bad) why you have continued to sandbag for 5 years then I'll get off the subject.

Cuz there is this stuff that they give the pros after the tourney is over. The stuff they give you is very valuable, you can buy stuff with it....its green and its paper. Don't be afraid of the little green paper. IT'S GREAT!!!! I guarantee you can buy alot more with this green paper stuff, than you can those plastic plates.

You do have a higher player rating than all the pros in 20 different states.

The tee's are marked on RedHAWK ENJOY!

There are PINK marker whiskers that are the tee's. The holes that have been up the longest are the back 9, so hole #1 starts just north of the parking lot.

est distances
1.190(3)------10.650(4)
2.275(3)------11.295(3)
3.260(3)------12.340(3)
4.285(3)------13.875(5)
5.320(3)------14.925(5)
6.400(3)------15.460(4)
7.285(3)------16.230(3)
8.450(3)------17.285(3)
9.330(3)------18.500(4)
front------back
2795ish----4660ish= 7455ish feet of (par 60) golf course

distances were walked off, not exact footages

#1 and #17 will be moved slightly from thier current locatations to get out of standing water areas

ENJOY!!! :D

Each 9 on both courses at Mohawk are supposed to give you a different feel of 4 different 9 hole courses.
The front 9 on REDHawk is the executive, friendly, recreational 9.
The back 9 on REDHawk is the streched out, par 4 and 5 tournament style 9.

The front 9 on BLACKHawk is a competitive, pro style course with a few par 4's
The back 9 on BLACKHawk is the EXTREME pro style, championship style tournament course with par 4's and 5's

No offence but every time i have played in the CITY i meet large numbers of 40+ YO novices that can whistle and a disc will leap from the bag to their hand like a well trained dog. not to mention the fact that they can throw it exactly where it needs to go no matter the line needed for the shot. I must conclude that the definition of novice or recreational division is somewhat different south west of Tulsa.

Not knocking your skills at all, I have seen you play...MSDGC 2005 DVD

But over here I play casual rounds with some pretty deep company, and they have not stopped me from moving up (no cash til August), but if I am in Huntsville I am playing with Dean Tannock and Lavonne Wolfe, in Mobile I will try to catch up with Matt Orum and family but that is seldom I will ever travel down there, and here in Birmingham....lets see, I have been taught this game by Tom Monroe, Joe Thacker and Tim Keith, we also scooped up Mike Young, another 1000+ rated player.

I get schooled on a regular basis. Your guys worry about two top pros, you and Conyers (sp). I have 7. And all those Tulsa baggers have been playing a lot longer then I have if you do not count Guts/DDC/Ultimate. Gees.

Billy is the worst kind of bagger though.......

A PINK BAGGER!

In short, you should not judge whether or not to move up by the competition ahead of you, but rather by the competition that is behind you.

Shamless plug......
Birmingham is going to have a tournament in September. A-tier if possible.....guarrenteed $5k added cash with more to come. Check the PDGA schedule to find out when, once approved.

Open players in Oklahoma don't play many tournaments, as a result I think there ratings suffer. Coda, Ron, Kev and Mitch Mac win the majority if not all the Okie tourneys, and usually it's by a land slide. We have some **** good pros but their ratings don't reflect that.

Honestly, Advanced Okie players do more touring than Okie Pros do (except for Mitch Mac, Kev and Coda).

Courtney Peavy is a **** good golfer, she beats the majority of Advanced okie players.

When you are good enough to start to compete in the Open division, then you should move into that division if you plan on playing competitive golf. However, if someone only wants to play 1 maybe two tournaments a year, and hardly ever practices then they should not have to move up. Basically the guys who cash at Bowling Green and at Worlds, are the ones who travel the nation playing, who practice a lot, and are the ones needing to move up.

You can stay advanced Mike, no worries. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif LOL j/k
