Tulsa will ... No wait... OKLAHOMA will represent to the fullest. I see a bunch of Yellow in our future... Let's just all knuckle down and put our best "crossed fingers" forward. I have talked and typed till I'm blue... with a list to do.

I hope folks are grasping just what an opportunity this is for our entire State. :D

We have to finalize a few things at our "emergency meeting" on Monday. Once every detail is nailed down we will announce this awesome news to everyone.

It is nice to see the subliminal marketing is working... You'll soon be "blended"... Thanks for noticing! :D

I googled "Special Pleasure Blend" and Smoothie King was number 1. Woohoo smoothies for everyone. :D

or perhaps McCoy has found a new band http://www.special-blend.com/ to manage.

I can't wait to see what you guys come up with. I know this will be one of the best ran worlds in a long time with Tulsa and Twisted Flyer teaming up(hard to beat Iowa though; they just about perfect). Maybe you guys should run pro worlds in two years.

Twisted1
Aug 17 2005, 07:23 PM
Don't think we aren't gunning for the "multi division" Worlds... By the time 06 AM World's comes and goes... They will beg us to do it!

It is amazing how Oklahoma companies are coming to the table (some of them slower than others) to support the event in one way or another!

The "Special Blend" will definately be special...I'm sorry to keep teasing you good folks... I personally am excited as you could not even imagine over it... But the board needs to tie up some loose ends before we can say anything. The board is a well oiled machine and our commitment to the event and eachother is extremely strong, so you just have to wait until EVERYONE is ready to go forward.

MIKE,
WE NEED TO ADD A FEW EVENTS TO THE SKILL GAMES THE WEEK END BEFORE WORLDS START. FATHER/SON DOUBLES WERE PLAYED AS PICK UP MATCHES ON MONDAY AND TUESDAY NIGHTS (WHICH JUSTIN AND I MISSED OUT ON). THIS WOULD BE GREAT FOR ALL THE FATHERS THAT WILL BE PLAYING IN ADVANCED MASTERS OR AMS. AND MAYBE A FATHER/SON MINI DISC GOLF MATCH.

I received a phone call this morning from one of our suburban chamber of comerce members. I have tlaked with them once before. They have requested that the TDSA meet with the chamber and the architects for the city for the purpose of another new course in the area.

Do the math yourself, what suburbs do not have a course.

Ladies... and Gentlemen... We present the Special Blend Orc from Innova Champion Discs and the Tulsa Disc Sports Association! This awesome official fundraiser disc is part of a program that will raise funds to replace the baskets on the courses we will use for the 2006 PDGA Amateur / Junior World Championships. The old baskets will be refurbished and donated to cities in our state that do not currently have a disc golf course! THE FIRST 500 DISCS WILL COME WITH A NUMBERED CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. A big round of applause goes out to Innova Champion Discs for their assistance in making this program a reality! LOOK for many surprises leading up to the event! THIS IS A PRE ORDER PROGRAM... DISCS WILL START SHIPPING 9/28/05
http://www.2006amworlds.org/

Please be patient with our Website, we were not scheduled to unveil it for another two weeks but with the demand for these discs we have agreed to take pre-orders for the first shipment of 500 discs. We also have World Bag Tags on sale now. Continue watching the website as we add more Worlds merchandise for sale. We will also be adding details and pics of all of the courses to be used at next year's worlds. Along with all of the information you will need to make it a memorable trip.

For those wanting hotel information or if you would like to make your reservations for next year the link for the Hotel (http://www.selecttulsa.com/discgolf/) is up and running.

M M F M M
( Moodys Monthly Full Moon Minis )
( also known as : Late Night with Dave Nicholson )
Top Ten reasons to attend this Event :

10. Great conditions to play in. Cooler during hot weather. Dark. Use tiny fishing bobber lights taped to your Discs and pitch away. Its a remarkable sight to watch them fly.

9. McClure Park. A well-maintained Park with a great mix of holes . Challenging.

8. Great Payout. Always over 100% with added Prizes for C-T-P throws.

7. Copies of current Schedules/Flyers. Always the most-up-to-datest info.

6. Possible Changes / Improvements. Different formats ; different weekdays ; expanded divisions available ; different Course ; etc. are all being considered to enhance the Event. Input from all is welcomed : whether you have ever played or not.

5. You can never play too much Disc Golf. Self-explanatory.

4. Mulligans available. Always at least 5. On some special nights : up to 10. Handy.

3. Free Food & Drink for Players. Your gracious hosts always have great chow prepared and served for 1 hour before tee-time. ( Heck , last time Terra Nicholson included a BIG bunch of fried taters. ). Always delicious & nutritious.

2. Camaraderie. You get to hang out with the Gang. Dave Nicholson , Kevin McCoy , and a whole pack-of-your-friends. May the forest be with you. See Dave TwoPutt Wise actually Three-Putt some holes (on rare occasions) . Ask Devan Owens or Justin Bougher for their tips on long-distance throwing (so they can refer you to Kev.) . Improve your day game after learning the night game. Check out the newest plastic from the manufacturers and tips on how to throw them.

1. Support the Sport. Absolutely the best way to directly help support your local Disc Golf Club , TDSA. This Event adds directly into Tulsas marquee tournament each year : The Oklahoma Open ( PDGA A-Tier SuperTour ) . ALL PLAYERS are affected by this over the years , men , women , and juniors. TDSA runs this October tournament for the benefit of all players, whether members of the Club or not. Through TDSA efforts and volunteers ; our local and area Courses are maintained and improved. AND- our 05 Oklahoma Open will springboard directly into our Best Year Ever : 2006 in which Tulsa will host the PDGA AmWorlds Championships.

I mostly throw Innova and Discraft. Also, other than my 150 Talon, I have started throwing a little heavier plastic lately. Thank you though. I really appreciate you thinking of me. I'm sure there's other ladies out there who would like discs that are that light. I hate to say it, but 135 might be a little too light for me. Thank you.

For those comming to Oklahoma for Worlds, here are a few things to learn that won't make you stand out as a tourist.

1. You can properly pronounce Eufaula, Gotebo, Okemah, and Chickasha.

2. You think that people who complain about the wind in their states are
sissies.

3. A tornado warning siren is your signal to go out in the yard and look for
a funnel.

4. Your idea of a traffic jam is ten cars waiting to pass a tractor on the
highway.

5. You've ever had to switch from "heat" to "A/C" in the same day.

6. You know that the true value of a parking space is not determined by the
distance to the door, but by the availability of shade.

7. Stores don't have bags, they have sacks.

9. You think everyone from a bigger city has an accent.

10. You measure distance in minutes.

11. You refer to the capital of Oklahoma as "The City."

12. It doesn't bother you to use an airport named for a man who died in an
airplane crash.

13. Little smokies are something you serve only for special occasions.

14. You go to the lake because you think it is like going to the ocean.

15. You listen to the weather forecast before picking out an outfit

16. You know cowpies are not made of beef.

17. Someone you know has used a football schedule to plan their wedding
date.

18. You have known someone who has had one belt buckle bigger than your
fist.

19. A bad traffic jam involves two cars staring each other down at a
four-way stop, each determined to be the most polite and let the other go
first.

20. You know in which state MIam-uh is and in which state Miam-ee is.

21. You aren't surprised to find movie rental, ammunition, and bait all in
the same store.

22. Your "place at the lake" has wheels under it.

23. A Mercedes Benz is not a status symbol. A Ford F350 4x4 is.

24. You know everything goes better with Ranch.

25. You learned how to shoot a gun before you learned how to multiply.

26. You actually get these jokes and tell them to your friends. Hot ****!

Finally, you are 100% Oklahoman if you have ever heard this conversation:

You wanna coke?"
"Yeah."
"What kind?"
"Dr. Pepper."

Twoputt, please explain Okie beer sales' laws...wouldn't want anybody going thirsty...or worse yet - BUZZ-LESS!

twoputtok
Dec 08 2005, 04:53 PM
Beer can be purchased at any convience or grocery store. How ever it is only 3.2% alcohol by volume.
6.0% or higher can be purchased in liquor stores by it can not be purchased cold.
So in Oklahoma you can not buy full point, cold, Budwieser, Miller, Coors...ect.

If you prefer full point Bud and the other name brands, then pick it up in Texas, Kansas, Missouri or Arkansas before you get here or wait until you get here and you will half to drink twice as much for the same effect.

Beer can be consumed in just about every park in Tulsa, just no glass containers and no drinking in the parking losts. It must be in the park.

Dec 09 2005, 02:08 AM
Two out of fifty states with [I'm a potty mouth] that bullsheit 3.2% weight law. :mad:One thing's for sure Budweiser, Coors, Miller, Etc., all would presumably despise having to create separate facilities for producing 'weakened' beer for a couple of states! Come on Oklahoma, give the men and women what they want, some dam* six point beer, cold, and available in connvience stores!

Twisted1
Dec 09 2005, 08:39 AM
That might hurt Cigarette, Lottery & Porno business they do... Just think Tatoos are illegal to get here as well... so if you want one of those go to the states with the good beer also!!! Viva La Okies!

You'd think so. :D
Actually, I will be at 2006 Am Worlds.
I will be fulfilling a three-year dream of being a spotter.
Inspired by the yeoman spotting efforts of Jay and Des Reading at 2003 World Doubles, I have always longed to serve in that same capacity.
I feel that I am eminently qualified to be a spotter. I have a Masters Degree in Recreation Management and have earned 46 hours toward a Doctorate in Leisure Sciences. Throw in my two World Championships, and my burning desire to succeed as a spotter, and what have ya' got.
The Spotter! :D

There was no meeting for the tee pad sweeper. If she and the other girls on her card had read the player instructions they wouldn't have had to ask me if it was OB or not. What I should have said to her is "Show me your boobs and that lie can be anything you want it to be.". Or how about..."Skin and you're in!".

Maybe for Am Worlds they can include a disclaimer saying that "The TDSA is not responsible for anything that Furdog might have to say on the course. Ask questions at your own risk." /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I have traveled around and seen other clubs struggle, and heard gossip/rumors/ridicule, and yet Tulsa seems to have very little, if any of this. What is Tulsa's secret to a successful club?

Those that spread gossip, rumors, or ridicule......end up in the river sleeping with the fishes. ;)....Believe me. You don't want to meet Vito. :(

I hear the Tulsa Admins eat Steak and shrimp at all the admin meatings, and sometimes there is even a keg of fat tire to drink.

Happy Admins = Happy Club Members

There is a back log on the inncolor process right now. :(

But the good news is ours shipped out to us yesterday. So they should hit the site in the next couple of days, we will announce the time they will go on sale, since there are only 50 available and I expect them to go quickly. ;)

Take your protein pills and put your helmet on...I'd like one of those discs as well, Wayne. Surely Furdog can apply the results of a recent wager as a down payment for me.... :D

Speaking of info, can you foresee when the weeks full schedule (or just a rough schedule) will come out? I imagine some of us (including me) are waiting to book hotels and make travel arrangments based on the schedule.

Not being pushy...just asking :D

Got the hotel reserved and put in for the time off already. I just need the invite now. I'll feel pretty silly if I don't get one.

That would be even more embarassing than Murph getting in when I didn't. Enjoying the first year of my daughter's life in place of playing more often is worth it, though. I don't see the course very often, but I spend every evening with my kids. Even if I don't make the waitlist (Wayne? What did I do to deserve THIS kind of treatment?) I'll have no regrets and I'll still be there to root YOU on, bagger. :D

Congrats to Tammy-Wammy, Amy Saunders, Shellie Smith, and Ashley Fors for making the invite list. I guess I joined the PDGA too late. I only have 30 points, and I need 50 to qualify. Looks like I'll be one of those hopefuls looking forward to March 1!

Look into flying out of Knoxville instead of Tri-cities. You can probably get a flight cheaper that way. You'll have to find a good friend to deal with the construction dropping you off and picking you up.
