The course itself is well designed and uses the available space quite well. It is a flat area so no impressive elevation changes and the trees provide a moderate challenge without being frustratingly placed. There is a bathroom right by the catcher for hole 6 which was greatly appreciated when I played the course today. The park is well maintained and very clean with trash cans near each tee. The map at tee 1 is quite nice and for the most part I was able to easily navigate the course.
Hole 8 is 520' long and would allow most any player to really loosen up their elbow and let their throw out quite a bit.
Despite this the downsides are abundant and are the reason I gave this clean, efficient course 1 chain. The first thing to know is that this is a fully functioning city park with a disc golf course dropped in the middle of it.
Hole 1 is set in a far back corner of the park so it took me about 10 minutes of driving around and wandering before I could find it. The map was right by the tee for hole 1 so no help there.
Hole 3 requires that you throw past a little cabin type building and across the road that runs through the park which just makes me nervous and takes away from enjoying the hole.
Hole 4 has no tee that I could find, I wandered aimlessly for about 10 minutes before I decided it didn't exist and just threw from next to a trash can that seemed to be about where the tee should have been.
Hole 6 is listed as a par 5, I finished it in 4. Anywhere else I would say this should be listed as a par 3 but since this hole crosses the road and ends right between the aforementioned restroom and a children's playground 5 seems OK since powering your drive across a road and towards a playground from 400+ feet away might be considered a tad irresponsible.
Hole 8 is very nice and long but runs along the baseball diamond and ends up very close to the spectator bleachers. I happened to play my round at the same time that there was a Little League game going on and there were about a dozen children running amok on the fairway so I opted to skip hole 8.
I never found the tee for hole 9 but it wouldn't have mattered as there were more children running amok.
Hole 10: Children, running amok.
Hole 11 was fine, a fun little tricky hole as there is a tree not far from the tee directly between the tee and the catcher but behind that tree is a basketball court. The hole is fairly short so I skipped a disc off the basketball court and laid up very close to the basket, a maneuver I enjoyed greatly. The reason this is down in the negatives though is that I still had to drive across a basketball course so had there been kids playing on the court I would have skipped 4 holes in a row.
Hole 12 would have been a very nice way to finish the course but my right OB was a line of cars. The cars made me nervous and I very nearly hit one. I didn't, but the stress from watching my Katana swerve right towards a BMW left a sour taste in my mouth.
Summary: Very efficient course, very clean course, and if it wasn't plunked in the middle of an active small town park it would be a very enjoyable time. I don't like worrying about hitting children or cars when I am playing.
TL;DR Just go to Ames or Boone, skip this course.
