PDGA Terminates MOU with WFDF

Tuesday, March 1, 2016 - 19:15

The Professional Disc Golf Association ("PDGA") announces that it has terminated its Memorandum of Understanding with the World Flying Disc Federation ("WFDF"), effective February 29, 2016, and will not be renewing its membership. PDGA was a charter member of WFDF when it was founded in 1985 and had rejoined in January 2014 following a brief departure.

"It is unfortunate that we find ourselves in this position once again," stated PDGA Executive Director, Brian Graham, "however, it became apparent over time that the PDGA could best accomplish its goals and continue the exponential growth of disc golf internationally, outside of a formal relationship with WFDF. With that being said, we remain supportive of WFDF's overall mission and we wish them nothing but the best of luck moving forward."

Both organizations remain committed to cooperation on mutually beneficial projects and initiatives, including support of the PDGA/WFDF World Team Disc Golf Championship to be hosted in Vancouver, British Columbia on August 18-21, 2016. WFDF will continue to employ the PDGA's technical standards for disc golf equipment and Official Rules of Disc Golf, and will reorganize its disc golf committee to include a PDGA representative.
