Each year, the PDGA Amateur Disc Golf World Championships brings together hundreds of amateur competitors from around the globe, many of which, despite spending plenty of time competing in local and regional events, haven’t seen each other since the previous year’s Am Worlds. It’s an annual opportunity to see friends, fellow competitors, and familiar faces that one likely wouldn’t see otherwise, hence its nickname, the “family reunion”.

Despite the junior divisions now having their own, separate world championships event, Am Worlds remains one of the most complex disc golf events of the year. 13 amateur divisions comprised of nearly 702 competitors have made the trek to York, Pennsylvania coming in from 11 different countries, 43 states and three provinces. To accommodate such a range of players, ten different courses are being used throughout the week, several of which have multiple layouts.

In addition to being a complicated beast on the hosting side, it is also an exhausting week for the competitors. Most of the divisions will compete for five days in a row and will take on a half dozen courses with some of the days requiring two full rounds, on two different courses.
