-
Purpose.
- PDGA’s social media and online spaces are a welcoming space for all disc golfers. To make sure that’s true, users of those spaces must follow certain rules.
- These guidelines are those rules. They are intended to promote healthy discussion and community engagement.
- These guidelines tell you what conduct isn’t allowed. They also list penalties for conduct that violates these rules.
-
Prohibited Conduct.
- Hate speech. Hate speech means statements that target a group or individual based on certain characteristics. These include race, age, religion, sexual orientation, color, marital status, national origin, disability, gender, gender identity, or ancestry. Links to material containing hate speech also count as hate speech.
- Other inappropriate speech. This includes libelous or defamatory speech, obscenity, threats and abusive language, or demeaning, derogatory, or disparaging speech.
- Spam. Spam includes off-topic comments including, but not limited to:
- Commercial messages.
- Unauthorized links.
- Unauthorized fundraisers.
- Off-topic remarks.
- Lengthy comments beyond the scope of the original post.
-
Applicability.
- The PDGA does not condone prohibited conduct, regardless of where it takes place.
- However, these guidelines only apply when the conduct meets at least one of the following conditions:
- It’s in a comment made on a PDGA-owned social media page or a page on the PDGA website.
- It’s in a comment made on any page on Disc Golf Scene. This includes things that are not PDGA-sanctioned tournaments.
- It's in a private message or email sent through Disc Golf Scene.
- It’s in a private message sent to a PDGA social media account.
- It’s in a post or comment made on a social media page that tags a PDGA social media account.
- A post or comment clearly referring to a specific PDGA member that, if made in person, would constitute a Class A2 offense (see PDGA Disciplinary Policy and Process at IV.B.1.b). This applies to posts or comments regardless of whether they are made on PDGA-owned platforms or not.
-
Penalties.
- Comment deletion. Prohibited content may be deleted by PDGA admins. This will also delete responses to the content, even if they don’t violate the guidelines.
- Temporary ban. Posting prohibited content may result in a temporary ban from PDGA's social media and online spaces by PDGA admins.
- Permanent ban. Repeat offenses or particularly serious violations of the guidelines may result in a permanent ban from PDGA’s social media and online spaces by PDGA admins.
- Discipline. In the most serious cases, violations of these guidelines may be referred to the PDGA Disciplinary Committee by the Director of Policy & Compliance. See the PDGA Disciplinary Policy & Process.
- Appeals. Comment deletion cannot be appealed. Temporary or permanent bans can be appealed to Policy & Compliance. Disciplinary case appeals follow the PDGA Disciplinary Policy & Process.
