With each passing year, we see more and more signs that disc golf is growing in one of its most important demographics, women. More women are signing up for tournaments, playing in leagues, and getting out to disc golf courses in general. PDGA Player of the Year and Rookie Points Update

Posted on Sep 4th 2014

Player of the Year (POY) and Rookie of the Year (ROY) point totals have been updated. Players outside North America earn points, but they are not included in the standings. Paul McBeth and Ricky Wysocki were tied for the lead at this update which includes events reported through July plus only the Pro Worlds results in August. Points from several big events remain. The 2013 POY winner, Catrina Allen, currently leads the women ahead of Paige Pierce and Valarie Jenkins.

A beautiful public park - the course makes use of elevation, tricky well guarded pin positions and the woods and open spaces. Permanent courses consist of; a 10 hole beginners course using shorter tees (lengths from 60 - 90 meters), a Blue par 56 course with lengths from 68 - 160 meters and a League Alternative 18 (par 57) with lengths from 59 - 193 meters for use when the park has other scheduled activities going on. There is also an 18 hole temporary championship course (par 61) - contact the club in advance to play this layout.

Rain Golf Reigns Supreme

For the last month or so, we actually believed that the PDGA National Tour had hit its quota for bad weather. As it turns out, we were apparently a few inches of rain short. The rain began as soon as we arrived at the park in the early hours of the morning, and it would continue for the next 5 hours without a break. It was truly a continuous downpour for the final day of the 2014 Brent Hambrick Memorial Open, turning dry creek beds and fairways into rushing streams and pseudo-swamps.
