Phill Diloné may not have realized it at the time, but his professional career and disc golf journey began overlapping quickly.

Diloné, PDGA No. 70955, was jet-setting around the world coordinating high-level events and, like so many, was hooked on disc golf from his first few trips to the course.

He dove in.

“I found community, just meeting people on the course,” Diloné said. “I needed something to do outside of work after college. It blew my mind, and I was hooked.”

After hitting the road to compete, Diloné, who admittedly said he’s capable of shooting 1030 and 850 rated rounds in the same day, started observing the events.

“I had been working these big events – Super Bowls with PepsiCo and other large-scale operations — so I started watching these disc golf events from afar and learning the ins and outs,” Diloné said. “I asked Jeff Spring if they needed help in Portland once and was observing from a far.”

Again, he jumped right in, joining the Disc Golf Pro Tour staff in April 2021 as a manager before becoming the Assistant Tour Director. His duties were wide-ranging — coordinating logistics, ensuring player satisfaction, improving efficiency and budget planning.

That has all culminated with Diloné being named the new Director of Competition with the PDGA.

“I’m ready to dive in and work with a great team to continue to elevate these events, from all of the Majors to the Elite Series, and find processes that work for everyone — players, local organizing committees, staff, everyone,” Diloné said. “We’ve got a great team in place — Patrick Graziani, Jamie Kemp and Matt Loyd — and I’m ready to get moving.”

Diloné assumed his new role with the PDGA this past week and jumped in as planning for the 2025 PDGA Majors is well underway.

“We are excited to have added Phill Diloné as the PDGA Director of Competition,” PDGA Director of Operations Tim Messer said. “He brings a wealth of experience in event management at the highest level in disc golf, and we know this experience will elevate the PDGA Majors for players, spectators, and all other stakeholders.”

After four years of assisting running the official professional tour of the PDGA, Diloné is excited to help elevate the premier events of the sport at every level.

“I’m excited to work with every level of the game,” he said. “All of us have a passion for the sport and it’s just exciting to see a junior player just as fired up on the course as the top professionals and legends of the game.”

Diloné resides in Michigan with his wife, Natalie, and four-month-old daughter.
