Japan Open - Day 1

Japan Open - Day 1

Thursday, June 10, 2010 - 08:09

Defending champions David Feldberg and Valarie Jenkins lead the Japan Open after the first two rounds. The format for day one had both divisions playing one round on each of the Raijin and Fujin courses at Nasu Highlands golf club in Nasu-Shiobara Japan.

Both of the 18-hole layouts come in at par 59 but the Fujin layout looks to be playing a little tougher judging by the scores.

David Feldberg (-15) carded remarkable rounds of 51 on both layouts to lead Nikko Locastro (-14) by a single throw in the Men's Open division. Finland's Jussi Meresmaa (-10) and Nate Doss (-9) will round out the lead card for round 3 on Friday morning.

Valarie Jenkins (+7) holds a commanding eight throw lead over Japan's very own Mayu Nonaka (+15) with Yuki Fukuhara (+16) and Des Reading (+19) just behind.

The tournament format will see the competitors play each of the two courses again on Friday before an 18-hole semifinal and 9-hole final nine on Saturday to wrap up the event.
