I know this is the same weekend as the high priced VPO :Dopen weekend. If I do not go to VPO than I will be there to run the monthly. If I do go to VPO than I am sure another Round Rock club member will step-up and run it. It is possible that some Sundays we will have to payout in all $$ for all divisions and than others we will try and have plastic available but none the less this MONTHLY will HAPPEN.

According to the LCRA they will drop Travis almost 2 feet in the next 24 hours. If they drop 3 or 4 more feet by Sunday(4 more 24 hour periods) then we can play. Sounds like it probably happen unless we get a lot of rain from this cold front. By the way we played the winter course at Settler's today. Dale, me, and Sandman and a friend of his. Dale threw lefthanded because of a problem with his arm. A little vagisil will probably clear it right up though. The weather was great until we hit the first hole and then the wind came out of the north at about 35 mph. Oh by the way since Dale threw lefthanded....I out drove him a few times!

Jon P. can you check with the hotel folks out there and see if we can set-up a couple of baskets on the other side like we had for the flying solo event? That is if the water is not too high on that side of the hotel as well. That way if we need to add a few holes on Sunday morning we already have the ok. If you come out on Sunday and you have a portable basket please bring it just in case. Thanks and see you guys and gals on Suday or maybe Sat in Wimberly.

lake info
At 6:45 a.m. today (Dec. 1) the lake was at an elevation of 687.7 feet above mean sea level, down nine feet from its peak of 696.7 feet last week.
LCRA plans to shut down one floodgate when the lake's elevation reaches 687 feet today, then close the second gate when the elevation reaches 686 feet and the third gate when it reaches 685 feet on Friday, unless conditions change. At that point, LCRA will continue to operate its hydroelectric generation units at Mansfield Dam until the lake's elevation moves back to the top of the conservation pool at 681 feet above mean sea level.

Lake Course Report.
Baskets 14 and 15 are still in the water. Tees 15 and 16 are still under water. Basket 7 still has water flowing by it but just a trickle. I think with 2 or 3 temp baskets the course can be slightly altered and still have the same flow from hole to hole.
I think I can make it Sunday. I can bring 1 basket maybe 2 and some flags to mark the temp tees. I can bring a table top gas grill for Vinnie's wiener, :o, Oh, I meet the weinies. I can bring mustard bread or tortillas and maybe some mini sausage links. :cool:JP
vinnie
Dec 02 2004, 10:49 AM
so lets plan on playing all water O.B. and for temp basket for 14, short of the perm basket. Make a temp hole teeing by #8 basket to a temp basket towards basket #4. then tee off from tee box #4 to basket 16. I got 1 temp basket and if this sounds good to Jon. Jon does this sound like it can work? Jon can you set up a temp for #14 and the motified boxes?
jpeacock
Dec 02 2004, 11:00 AM
Sounds good to me. There is room along the lake to just move up the slope a little and parallel 15 and set someting up. Number 16 is real iffy with the water about 20 feet or so from the basket. Definately no short lefty line but with moving the tee it will work. I will get with Sandman on getting a good temp basket. I can finalize and set up the tees probably Saturday afternoon. JP

jpeacock
Dec 02 2004, 11:18 AM
8 & 9 may be a little soggy. 12 tees across some water but most people would need to shank it pretty good to get wet. Don't know where the table went on 12 tee. Floated off somewhere.
We will just have to play around the water. 17 basket is only about 15' from the water so water shots there will be harder to retieve with the steeper slope.
There will be some different stratagy to stay dry but that makes it different and fun.
vinnie
Dec 02 2004, 11:28 AM
lets do that with #15 and just tee from #4 box
Baskets close to water! SOUNDS LIKE FUN

anybody can park it teeing off from the womans tee box mike . try teeing off from the top next time... /msgboard/images/graemlins/ooo.gif /msgboard/images/graemlins/ooo.gif
Thats not even in the same zip code as funny. What is funny is the fact that II have thrown 400 before but no-one I know personally has realy never seen it. Our card let these guys play through and one particular guy cranked it and parked it. Rob looked up at me and said "now that is 400" I just looked at him and did'nt say nothing.I did not want to jinx my drive. Then it was my go and I blasted it picture perfect and put it next to the basket. Looked up and said I told you I can drive 400' Bia!!!
The fact that I am doing it on call is pretty cool.
Hey goblin, Drink some more hateraide!!!!!
Sorry Mike, but a 400 foot downhill drive is not the same as a 400 foot drive. Almost there though! Keep it up!
 :D ;)
#13 at Old Settlers is listed at 409', and I threw it about 20' past and to the right yesterday, after a little coaching from c dub...
Dont remeber the number but the one at Twin Parks parkshire course, the crush over the pond was over 400' and I was pin high (that is one where I out drove Vinnie ;))
vinnie
Dec 13 2004, 12:00 PM
lol
drive for show putt for doe.
It you can't hit a 20 footer why throw 400' on a 420' hole :D
Its the fact that there was a witness this time. I have thrown 400 on flat ground just not on call. The fact that I am doing it when I need it just enthuses the hell outa me. Still have alot of work to do. I wanna be at 500 by the end of 2005. Anyone ever park 11? That would be amazing to see. I need to make the mini out there.
True dat V!! (ya'll missed your putt too!!)
My putts came back to me a little yesterday. Hit several good ones..
Mike, even when you are crushin 500' all the time I'll be there to give you shti and tell you its only 340'
I am pretty sure ware has come close to 11, but I have not seen it. I did see Alex park 14 for a drop in...
I have parked 14 twice and yesterday I was 20' short. You fools keep it up. It raises my post count and makes me try harder. :DThis Am is gonna crank it up this year. You might even change my name to CB_Disc_Pimp :p Hahahaha. Then I will Throw 550.

Dec 13 2004, 01:08 PM
If you learn to throw 500' consistantly I'll give you $152. I can't even get 440' on a regular basis nor can C-square. Now that I think of it Nolan probably only gets 475or 480 consistantly. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

james_mccaine
Dec 13 2004, 03:36 PM
I'll take that bet. I will define "consistently" as 75% and you can throw 10 shots. Eight of them must be farther than 500 feet.
Why $152?

ace pot at $60 and growing.

Question is why hasn't the McCaine family be out to lago for a while.
We are looking to have a big turnout for after new years day. So bring it or shut your donkey

james got play or get back to work....
You confound me.
I like Lago, but honestly, that mini is time consuming. I leave about 8:30 and don't get back till around 3. I can get in a round of ball golf and a round of disc golf during that time if I stay in town.
Mike bring you girl...no where out there to get a truck stuck, unless she decides to take the truck swimming :D
You can never tell with her. She might decide to give the KC's an under water test. How many DG girls show up?
I'll start spreading the word today to the Temple group to make it out there.

the question is why 500 ft the kid said 440. why on 152 that is the amount he wants to lose. 8 out of 10 over 450 ft? you want that bet James?
james_mccaine
Dec 13 2004, 04:47 PM
No, he said he would give $152 for consistently over 500 feet. I would take the 450' bet, but only $20 or so. Wait, are we talking a wide open field; tail wind, no wind? How we gonna measure it?
seewhere
Dec 13 2004, 05:10 PM
you go stand about 460 feet away from me and than I will commence to hitting you in the head with some drives. :D

450' James, I'll take that bet...just as long as you let me walk back and forth retrieving my disc being I only have 1 Orc.
james_mccaine
Dec 13 2004, 05:14 PM
Chris, I'll pay $152 if you can do that.

Dec 13 2004, 05:25 PM
Chris, I'll laugh real hard if you can do that. :D

Dec 13 2004, 07:47 PM
That takes the wind out of the picture, Throw 450', go to the disc, and throw 450' back. Repeat 5 times.

Dec 20 2004, 01:23 AM
keep it on the front page. Lets get a BIG turnout for 1/2/2005.
Lots of ctps, a good ace pot, great course and everyone gets to see me
Come on down Waco and Temple, mozey up Live Oak and Victory!!

Dec 21 2004, 11:35 AM
I finally took my tree trimming stuff out to the Resort Course and trimmed up the new alternate # 6. It is short but tight and sweet. Still a lot to be desired on the tee box but with a little work it can be leveled but it will not be very big. Chris and Ricky, How about using it Jan. 2nd?
Jon
vinnie
Dec 21 2004, 11:44 AM
I think we use it.....as long as the tee box is safe :D
jpeacock
Dec 21 2004, 11:55 AM
It will be safe, it just is going to be small, about 4 x 7, with a slight slope left to right. With the hole being less than 200' it shouldn't need a full size tee box.
vinnie
Dec 21 2004, 11:59 AM
very true.... and is there a place for the rest of the card to stand and still be out the way of the thrower and players on #5?
jpeacock
Dec 21 2004, 01:01 PM
Yes, there is room. I guess somebody could really drill one through the brush but normally it's clear.
vinnie
Dec 21 2004, 01:07 PM
sounds good...I say we use it.
So someone needs to take the benchs out of old 6 tee box and use them somewhere else.
This will help avoid confussion
jpeacock
Dec 21 2004, 01:14 PM
Eventually yes. For Jan 2nd we will just announce to play the alternate and post a note on the regular tee box stating to play the alternate.
Then we can get input on the new hole.
:DJP

Dec 21 2004, 01:39 PM

Dale, LT, Sandman and some other guys played the new alternate hole 6. I heard only about half of the shots through the middle tunnel got through. I think it may become a love Hate / Hole for me. Looks so inviting throws real tuff! :p
Dale what did you think?
You took away my pancake ace run!!!! Big hyser is the way. Hit the tree to the right of the basket and hang in the top. (Jan. 2 no stroke) Leave the rocks at the bottom of the tree so we can get our discs.
J A B
Dec 29 2004, 11:26 AM
Larry I belive that the PDGA back away from eliminateing the 2 meter rule. In 2005 it is going to be a TD's option to "not" have 2 meters count as a stroke.
The original plan was to give the TD's the option to declare 2 meters still in effect but, either too many complaints or problems getting a new rules book printed and mailed out caused the change.
On a personal note I think that distance and stance, (you still have to mark directly below the 'stuck' disc) are penalty enough.
But, then again I could be reading all the talk on the rules tread wrong. Less message boarding, more playing is what I need.
Now back to your "Lago, greatest once a month mini" DISCussion.
vinnie
Dec 29 2004, 11:31 AM
come on out JAB....start the year right.
