Disc Golf Association, Inc. (DGA) Purchases Discgolf.com Domain Name

SANTA CRUZ, California – Today Disc Golf Association, Inc. announces the purchase of the website domain name Discgolf.com. The new website address will now be used as the company’s main website address. 

“Starting today, Discgolf.com will be the digital home of DGA,” says Scott Keasey, General Manager of DGA. “With DGA being the founding company of the sport and the company that coined the term disc golf, it’s only fitting that the most prominent domain name in the sport be with us.”

It is the feeling of DGA that the acquisition of the Discgolf.com address, will gain traffic to the company’s site, help expose the general public to the sport, as well as, further solidify the company’s position as a leader in the disc golf market.

The purchase came as an agreement between DGA and the original and longtime owner of the domain, Marty Hapner. Mr. Hapner, a Disc Golf Hall of Fame member, and life long disc golf advocate, had managed Discgolf.com as a web portal for all things disc golf since the mid-1990’s. “I am very pleased to pass the discgolf.com domain to DGA” says Hapner. “I have attempted to provide information about the game of disc golf to the Internet community for the past 16 years, and I believe that DGA will continue, if not improve upon this work. Given that DGA is the company that brought us disc golf in the first place, it seems fitting that they should hold the namesake domain for the sport we all love. I am sure Ed would be happy about this change.”

Announcements to all former registered users of Discgolf.com have been notified of the closing of the site in its current form. For a limited time, they will be able to access and retrieve any historical information from their account. Please log onto DGA’s website for additional information.

DGA is happy to be the new owners of the Discgolf.com domain. Though it will primarily be the digital home for information on its products and the sport, the company is excited to explore other possibilities with the site.  “It’s not yet known what other opportunities the new domain will provide, but we are excited to see what the future holds,” says Keasey.
