Earlier this year, the Disc Golf Pro Tour announced that they were launching sports betting for DGPT events. At the time, there were no plans by the PDGA to extend sports betting to PDGA Major events, and we made statements reflecting that fact in our responses to member inquiries.
As a key partner, PDGA wants the DGPT to be successful and thrive, and we do not intend to be a roadblock as they pursue avenues to make the Tour bigger, better, and healthier. Accordingly, and after extensive discussions, the PDGA has agreed to allow the DGPT to open betting lines on MPO and FPO divisions at PDGA Majors using the market creation and distribution infrastructure already in place.
To safeguard competitive integrity, the PDGA adopted the DGPT’s official gambling policy at the beginning of the 2025 season and designated the Global Board of Directors, PDGA staff and contractors (including PDGA Marshals), and other key personnel at Majors as Covered Individuals under that policy. This means that they are barred from betting on disc golf (other than low-stakes season-long fantasy leagues).
The PDGA has committed that we will not accept any revenue generated by sports betting on disc golf through at least the end of 2025 while we continue to monitor the landscape. We may receive revenue-sharing allocations from advertisements purchased by sports betting platforms, however.
