Hole # 17 V
I'll bring some chips, hot sauce, gucamole, and some Chuy's creamy jalapeno dip.
johne
Dec 19 2011, 01:29 PM
Larry, if your "hot sauce" is Chuy's also, let me know, and I'll bring something else. Looking forward to your creamy jalapeno dip, we've made that a few times at the house and its not been quite as authentic as i'd like.....i've seen several variants out on the web, maybe we haven't tried the right one.

Dec 19 2011, 01:33 PM
yeah yeah i know.....next thing you know we'll have a recipe swapping thread. Hardy har har, lol
Wednesday's looking to be a good day, I'm stoked. See you guys then.
I'll bring potatoe salad to go with the pulled pork. Wednesday should be off the chain this week so if we could get 2-baskets for powling, that would be great too...
Of the 65,000 second hand smoke deaths, I would bet 90% of those are of people who live with people who smoke in the house. Maybe even more than 90% due to being pinned in the house/car/office/club whatever.. being outside with the wind blowing is not as bad as some suggest it is.....but I understand that those who do not smoke don't like the smell and we as a club should be understanding of this when we are asked nicely to move/or get down wind from the non-smokers. I may not do it all the time, but i do try and make sure my smoke is not going at non-smokers and will try harder for the next few weeks to do so....see all wednesday....

Dec 19 2011, 02:40 PM
I will bring the pulled pork and tortillas. Here a list of what we need to go with.
Cheese
Diced onion
Cilantro
Sour cream
I will bring plates as well.

Dec 19 2011, 02:45 PM
I will bring Chips, Shredded Cheese and Sour Cream

Dec 19 2011, 03:13 PM
I'll bring something for dessert after the grub
Who's bringing spoons/forks/knives/paper towels???? I can eat with my hands, but don't think I need to this week.....
I also have a two week old ctp (putter and cfo holder) that Vincent brought and has not been claimed yet.....so lets add it to the other three we already have for this week. OH, wait. ET won one and is going to be out of town wednesday, so we are back to three..

Dec 19 2011, 04:22 PM
i will bring the computer and speakers and an empty stomach sound like some good food.. whos bringing BEER????????????
Sounds good C-Dub........I'll have my Budweiser as allways, and maybe some Spaten if I can get by Costco wednesday...they have a case for 20.00 bucks (warm on the shelf) and thats a great price considering a 6pack at HEB is 8.00 bucks...Also, have you found "Luck be a lady" Yet?? Yall have to hear it after all the years of hearing me sing it, you should hear the real thing by the man Frank Sinatra....
seewhere
Dec 19 2011, 04:54 PM
no luck be a lady yet luck..
Try "The lady's a tramp"...Still by Frank...
Found it thru Google
Luck Be a Lady
Frank Sinatra
Sinatra 65'
Song/singer/album above.........Also "The Lady Is A Tramp" is a good one...
here ya go C-Dub and whom ever else can figure this out. I found "Luck Be A Lady" at
SING365.COM.....maybe this will help to get it live at Powling..
They call you Lady luck
but there is room for doubt
at times you have a very un-lady-like way
of running out
your on this date with me
the pickins have been lush
and yet before the evening is over
you might give me the brush
you might forget your manners
you might refuse to stay
and so the best that i can do is pray
luck be a lady tonight
luck be a lady tonight
luck if you've ever been a lady to begin with
luck be a lady tonight
thats the first part of the song......see why I like it..??
Some computer guru help me out here and get it to C-Dub for wednesday nite's fun times
No, its not Chuy's, I'm making it tonight! Probably a couple of quarts.
Imagine all those words in that song and up till now, all you could remember is 5!!!
What time is the round usually over?

Kinda right.......but those 5-are the most important vocals to the song...and tomorrow night, you can hear it live at Powling.....all the words....
So come on out around 5:30 or so as thats when we start finishing up the round....
Great Job Mike Harrell on the bud light, you will be a big hit with that.....
Not sure which one I'll bring tomorrow...Fireman's 4 Or Spaten...????
got some frank ready to load onto music system... looking like good times ahead
Now thats what I'm talking about C-Dub....thanks so much, can't wait for some old school Frank.....Merry freekin Christmas....

Merry FRANKY christmas
To all my brothers and sisters of the Double R. Hopefully I will see some of you tomorrow night at the mini. For those who can't come out I hope that you have a wonderful and very very Merry Christmas and if you are traveling I hope all goes smooth and safe. For those that do come out, see yall then for what looks like a great Christmas kick-off party. Heck, maybe even Santa drops by........But I do know Frank Sinatra will be in the house along with a fellow double nickel guy (L.T.)....
Hey Bigarm, pick a hole for a CTP and let whoever is taking signups know. Make sure a 55 yr. old can reach the basket on that hole. I'll bring it with the hot sauce and stuff. I'll probably get there just after the round starts. I'll give the winner a choice, an old champion orc with Moody's stamp or a Randy Gerde cut metal mini. They are just sitting on the shelf. See you guys tomorrow! "Be careless....Take chances"

The word Gutter was loud and clear last nite. Thanks to Ware for the Frank Sinatra songs.......Merry Merry Christmas to all of you and your families. Be safe and have a great Christmas weekend....
Not sure about the rest of you guys and gals, but don't think I am going to hang long after the round as tomorrow night is the last Texas Longhorn football game of the season. Thats is unless someone brings a TV with cable strapped to it...I still have your cart John EEEEE, let me know via e-mail if your playing and or need a ride and i can bring it with me.....see all tomorrow for the 5th week of singles.....nice weather too I hear is coming.....

that does not work in paint then you have to load the png to a web hosting serrvice site and then it resizes.. if folks cant read it then they can select all and put it in excel then do what you suggested.. i can send it to you if you want to try and repost?
What???? or if you are my age you can just right click, print and use a magnifying glass. Or have you grand kids read it to you!!!

let me say today that I'm sorry for anything that comes out of my mouth that affends anyone tomorrow........Stopping smoking is a tough tough deal and I know I have been less than nice to my wife and co-wokers. I'm working on it, but it slips out from time to time....so please don't let it get to you....its just a person trying his hardest to quit something he has done for over 30-years......and the fake smoke is not helping either..but with yall's help I think I can do it.......just be patent with me...

Question, if its pouring rain like the weather men say its going to, what is our back up plan?? Like are we powling under the cabana, or is it going to be a show up and drive off day?? Not a fan of playing in the rain and mud due to bad ankles and knee's. I'll be there just in case the weather man is wrong, but would be fun to hang out anyway if the weather turns to ----!!! DON'T FORGET YOUR $10 TO RENEW!!!
A few other items to remember...Extra Towels, Mud shoes, and some less stable discs for poor footing and slippery grip. I know the latter will be difficult for some of you as you already throw Valks and Sidewinders...Keith, I have a 140g Lightning #1 driver that was left over from the TWC juniors players packs. If I remember correctly, Zoe Justice was using it as a roller @ age 10, so it should be a great headwind driver for you in these conditions...There is my thoughts on a "Backup Plan" for you.
See you Tools out there!!

Great times last nite as allways...........Well, great after the round that is.......LBA kickes our rumps last nite by taking ****** with a par and collected 11-skins on that hole to go with the other 4 giving him 15 skins while we (ET, Blake & myself) walked away with 1-skin each.......Thanks to Martin for the bugers, C Ware for the killer dish (Thanks really to Dana).....and allthe others who brought items to go with the meal. I did hear that Joe (Climo) Major got shut out, sorry for trying to pump you up for the skins, I know now that pressure is something you can't handle, so I will not do that again....and congrats to the club once again for making our league play so much fun..Big course coming soon in March I guess.. Sometime around the 14th i would think, so that gives us a few more weeks of winter play......Great turn out last nite with great people..
OK, now that we are starting new league (handicapp league) till time change ( a four week league), my question is, are the handicapp's figured on every round you played or just the 6-rounds it took to make the skins final ? I know most people did not even get the 6-rounds, and some had all of them or close to that, say 7,8 or 9 rounds..How are handicapps figured?? Keith - I think I heard them say last week @ the mini that it took at least 3 round to get a handicap & if you have 6 or more that 6 rounds will be used.
The WTF FUNdraiser to send us to TWC (who wouldn't want to help us to leave for 3/4 days afterall) is this Saturday @ the MET. Men's & ladies dri fits, hoodies, tee shirts, koozies, towels, stickers - all with the super cool WTF logo that John Worm Gold made for us. Some great donations coming in from Stef's mom & dad, Moon's Match Madness, Team Justice, Waterloo, DiscNation, Wanna Play, Des & Jay, Stef, Lala & Edman, and hopefully a super sweet surprise from Gateway. If you've got items to donate - bring them to the MET if you don't see a WTF lady before Saturday. Can't wait to see everyone there, this is gonna be one hell of a party (Saturday is my 40th birthday)- make sure to spread the word!
Sign up starts @ 8:30 & tacos will be ready, $1 each - served by the Taco Ladies (come eat our taco's they're tastey & they're cheap), 1st card goes out @ 9:00 singles or doubles ($15 a person), home made lunch provided after the round (chopped beef sandwiches, homemeade beans, & potato/pasta salad) lunch is free to players - tips accepted; a little keg beer, WTF CTP's, & Kan Jam tournie to wrap things up. Gonna be some good times!!! Hope to see you all there.

On behalf of the Double R cabinet I would like to thank each and every member for being part of the club. We have started to plan for the up coming year and would like to ask for some help from the members. If everyone could look and find some new or gently used disc to donate to the club that would be great. I know most of us have lots of plastic we could donate. We understand that not everyone has time or money but most of us could help the club with this effort. The stockpile will be used to help sponsor events and for selected mini's as ctp's. Please bring what you can to the Wednesday mini's and give your donations to any cabinet member. We will collect for the next 6-8 weeks so get the word out. Thanks for your help. ROUND ROCK !!!!!!!!!

good scores playing doubles then you add your handicap and they werent so good..
1. 46 joe/devin, martin /cole split $45
3. Jd / Edman 47 split 8
another ace falls thanks to Martin on hole # 13 (reg #9)
ACE POT is now $102 for current members
menu was discussed but not many people had input. i have heard deer sausage so we will need coals and tortillas.. wife will make some crawfish etoufee but not sure how much she will be making.
next week will be the last night on the winter course so we will play straight random draw doubles no handicap to see if anyone can beat 43..
Cool sounds good.....I'll grab a large bag of coals in case we have a bunch of food show up.........Any idea on what the first "big" course league will be for the 14th of march??

now onto this weds menu:
so who is bringing what to Powling on weds? i have heard woody is bringing ribs, beans, blake is bringing sausage and martin might make fajitas??? if so then i will not have the wife make crawfish etoufee., we will need tortillas, mustard, plates, spoons, shredded cheese and charcoal... SOUND OFF IF YOU WANT TO EAT!!!

Mar 05 2012, 11:24 AM
The 21 hole layout should be twicked also......maybe Mando on 9,some more OB on #3, island on #11........just thinking out the box to enjoy the course more now that we have so much WIDE OPEN.

Already said I would grab the charcoal (big bag) for this wednesday's last winter nite...Yes thats right, I'm back BABY!!! Two weeks without you guys is tough, but looking forward to some golf and some powling to get back with you guys before yall move it to the big course for the summer and beyond.....
Now don't think because I wrote YALL are moving to the big course that I'm going to switch courses for the summer. It all depends on the ankle and how it holds up on the 14th to see if I can make all 21-holes....Last year it just got so sore that walking the next day at work was painful to do.......so we will see how it goes....and when Vinnie suggested a re-work of some holes?? Shorter right??

As allways, good times last nite. Thanks to Steve-O for the ACE beer (my wife thanks you too).
On another note. Over heard a conversation last nite that bothered me. It seems that a certain person (not a member) who has no respect for our club, its members, or the league told a member that he thought our league was a joke basiclly and tried his best to make it look that way by playing with his off hand after a bad start. I don't know about the rest of you guys, but it just shows how inmuture that person is and how he thinks his you know what does not stink. Thats sometime's the biggest problem with success, it all goes to your head, and when your young and dumb, its really really a bad thing. Our member told this fella that if he shows up next week he would have to play again with his off hand and that our club member would make sure and be on his card to make sure he plays that way. This non-member was just plain being a donkeys rear about our club and the league. I no longer am on the cabinet, but if i was, i would never ever let a person so full of himself be a member in our club. And would speak with this fella and tell him just that...I proud of our club members actions with this fella as it shows how much this club member thinks of our club and for the people in it...I'm just glad it did'nt come to blows as I believe this non-member would have been on the wrong end of that stick.......And just for the record, I had his back just in case it did go south.
WE don't need people like that in our club, never will.......just my thoughts on the subject. Again, other than that, it was a good nite and again, Thanks Steve-O for the cold Bud's.........see all next week. Oh, one more thing, nice round Lala......

Since inventory has screwed me again for this years Outlaws. Me and a few closet CTCB'rs are going to hit another course this wednesday. Don't worry about last weeks DNF.....no big deal to me or the guys on my card.....liked the new holes though. just wished we had more daylight to finish.......best of luck to all the Dbl-R's this weekend and hopefully I'll see you guys saturday afternoon if inventory goes well......

For the very few who use this board anymore, and that's not many, best of luck to all the DBL R's this weekend at Old Settlers. Play your best and be your best no matter what. Make the club look great while on the course and afterwards. Will try my best to make it out saturday afternoon depending on work.........I assume I can drink CFO's since I'm not playing. And if I can't, well you know what I'm going to do anyway so don't say nothing....I don't want to get DQ-ed....maybe hammered, but not DQ-ed....
We are now at Northtown In P-Ville for the wednesday mini since Old Settlers is down for Christmas light Show........flex start 3:15 to 3:45 as of last week.....check Facebook to confirm flex start times as days are getting shorter.......We will be back st OLD Settlers 1st week of January 2013.....Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all if we don't see you before 2013.........
