Those of you who played, what did you think of what they did with regular 13's t-box? When I saw it I thought that with a good rain that the water and mud will still run across the box. Just looks like it will drain away slightly faster. I think they need a semi-circle retaining wall behind the back left corner to divert all the water completely around it. Just curious how it looked since I wimped out today.

johne
Feb 04 2010, 10:36 AM
so that's what that was. We thought some rednecks had decided to do a bunch of donuts all around reg 13 teebox. The box itself was clear.

scores???

johne
Feb 04 2010, 10:43 AM
4 players played. Others showed up at the pavillion but left by the time we were about 1/2 way done.

1. JD/JohnE $12
2. ET/Martin nada

don't remember exact scores, but we were tied about 1/2 way through and we won by about 4 or 5 strokes...think jd/me were about 4 down at the end. There was never any heavy rain while we played....mostly sprinkling and times of no rain at all.

V my phone was on slient for some stupid reason (POS razr phone) didn't see that u called until we were almost done with our round.

Were do I start...........Lets see.......38 degree's and wet....just call us crazy!! But we did indeed play yesterday, and thanks to Martin, we played our first 3-man teams. A total of 15 players (5-teams) and all scores in the 40's. Shiann Played as well (Russells oldest daughter) but just for kicks........not bad as it seemed to warm up during the round, or was that the beer making it warmer....who knows, but it was fun....Watching C-Dub throw a second shot, then a drive and then the sprint to the ****** bathroom was worth the 5-bucks to play....Not to mention Rusty hitting long putts from his knee's and thru tree's was another pleasure.........now time for scores
Rusty Jon D & Matty 45 split 30.00
C-Dub Rodney Mike B
Keith ET Zak 46 split 15.00

worst score was a 49.......Mike W Paul W & JD....better luck next time guys....

Did we stop here and go home to warmer area's....NO....we moved onto Powling...thats right, powling and cooking.....Thanks here go to Patti (sausage and plates) ET (chicken) and yours truly (coals & sausage) and to C-Dub for leaving his basket for us to use (Rusty has your basket Chris).......In a tight race to the finish and no -one being able to get a strike (this is were Steve-o decided to make some coin) the game was up for grabs till the 10th frame with Zak sitting alone in 1st until Patti hit a strike getting her into within 5-points of the lead (but then went 2-gutters) and then Rodney hit a strike to tie, but was unable to hit anything on his last two throws caused this game to end in a tie....and being frozen at this point there was not a throw off..Rodney and Zac split the 8-bucks......hell of night I must admit......Yes Sally showed up, played and stayed....as allways, wednesday's are the greatest days of the week......until I see you guys again, and hopefully thats this weekend.....keep it in the fairway and bang some chains.........Later

one more thing......6-people renewed last night and I have that list, did not have any forms but did write down the names on the sign=up sheet.............we can fill out sheets next week for Keith M ET Mike B Martin R Rusty Mike W...........thanks guys

Mar 04 2010, 06:15 PM
Scores from last nite, and some comments about last nite......looking at the scores it seems that the 666 format works real well......everyone shot par or better last night....and some shot off the chart's
Steve O/ ET 43 split 26.00
Tony P/ Andrew 44 split 18.00
Vinnie / Zack 46 split 13.00
Bryan / Blake 47 split 9.00
Martin / Joe Major 48 split 6.00
Not bad at all guys and Gals.................After handing out money, i was lucky enough to watch the guys start a fire without lighter fluid as Tony's better half did him & us a favor by stopping by the store for coals (Tony did not mention we needed pre soaked coals). But to see those guys in action was a treat, needless to say the fire got started and thanks to Patti & Vinnie, we had food & powling like allways....Which reminds me, daylight savings time ends saturday the 13th so next wednesday will be the last winter course/powling/ eating event of the year..............Would also like to thank Martin & Steve O for helping with payout, it means alot guys thanks......now powling......Patti was on fire in warm ups with 6-strikes, then game one starts and she goes 3 straight strikes and a spare and was leading the pack, then she went cold, as in ice cold, this is when Tony P (stranger) started his amazing run (finished with a 205) were he would throw a strike turn around and have several people hand him money, he only won 8.00 from the game, but about 20.00 on side bets.........in game 2 (worth 4.00) it was more fun to watch & listen to all the side bets than it was to watch the powling......alot of lettuce changed hands in this one, and the trash talk was at a all time high during this one with Zack (lay-up king) taking the cash (again 4.00).....So remember, next wednesday is the last winter course mini and the last powling event of the season so lets blow this one up..........besides, you have to watch a superstar work his craft, and thats Steve-O in the powling department (not powling, but side bets)...its worth a few games to sit back & watch....believe me.......so until I run into you guys on a course somewhere, keep it in the fairway and bang some chains.................Later!!

I know its early in the week, and your thoughts are not on wednesday night, but let me remind you that this wednesday is the LAST winter wednesday..........Time change this saturday at 11pm.....or like me, the next morning and you lost an hour......I have a huge bag of coals and yes Tony P I have lighter fluid as well........are we going to do it big, or just another wednesday nite....??? Come rain, hail or high water I will be there and hopefully all yall will too!! Stay for powling, its worth it!!!!

I have another OB question but is has to do with today on the winter course. We initially played a triple mando on hole 9, but the last 2 weeks people on my card(when the horizontal limb was missed) said it was only a double(left and right), I didn't know it had changed? Has it? Doesn't really matter that much since this is the last week, but just curious.

seewhere
Mar 10 2010, 11:06 AM
double mando with the rule of no thumbers or hyzers. you just have to pass inside the orange paint on both tress but not under the limb if you miss either mando you get 1M drop by the closest mando tree you missed or at least that is how I have played it all year on our card.

edman
Mar 10 2010, 11:56 AM

Yes - tripples sounds like fun (unless we're not divisable by 3, then singles sounds great!).

Agreed Chris - some people don't know/play by the right rules/OB (Sunday or Wednesday) - 2 meter rule always in effect (all Double R events), shule line on C/B (including painted rock circle) OB, double mando on 9 (both directions), shule line on 17, painted lake on 4 & line to road all also OB on Big Course. Painted water in creeks was for TxStProDubs only (unfortunately).

Made a pot of beans last night during the cabinet meeting - not huge, but big - could use mexican rice, sour cream, guac, salsa, torts, cheeze, & chips - not to mention plates & silverware. I'll bring grille tools & cutting board, beans & meat when I come & hope to feel well enought o play a few holes.

Its a sad day my friends.....we have to say goodbye to the winter course for another year................Happy days are here again.....its back to the BIG course next week hole #1......sign up by 4:45 and try and tee before 5pm.....if we finish with time left over, we will move it back to 4:50 sign up and 5pm tee...................now onto scores from last nite
Steve-O/Eric M C Ware/Paul W 45 split 42.00
Bryan/Vinnie ET/Webster 46 split 26.00
Martin/Zack 47 split 10.00
.................................................. .................................................. ...................
Thanks to alot of people last nite for the food and great times.....to many of you to list, but you know who you are.....The club supplied the meat (fajitas mixed) and many others brought sides....thanks again so much, it was a great ending to the winter year..
Powling was a good as it gets on the last nite...........for the life of me I don't really know who won what game, but lord was it fun....Steve-O took it in the shorts early, but when all was said and done, he was back on top and the profit was in the 12.00-15.00 range.....so remember next year, if you want to powl, bring some extra cash, so you can watch a pro work his craft on side bets......did not hear to many 3-on the turkey last nite.....but plenty of side action regardless.........thanks again so much for a wonderful send off to the winter course.....man that was fun!!
Don't forget, next week hole #1 is the place to be if you want to hang with the Double R.
Again, sign up by 4:45 and tee before 5pm next wednesday...............Thanks to Steve-O with helping out with payout.....and please please try and add your score cards right, several people last nite added their cards wrong, and that could end up being a penelty which might cause a good score to not cash.........take your time and add them right....also, par on the big course is 63.........just FYI.......Well, until I run into you guys and gals on a course this weekend, or not until next wedesday, keep it in the fairway and bang some chains..........................Later!!!

Sorry Keith - we can't do 5:00 start next week. Even with Dubs & the time change, the big course is a 3 hour tour - dark way before 7:00 right now & that means 8 after time change. Have to start next week @ 4:30 & move back from there.

ok so on C-hole the circled rock pile and right side are no longer considered OB?

can somone post what the PARK OB's are? just curious as to why we dont play the OB the same as tournaments so we can get a home course advantage? if its due to paint being gone then we can use the tall grass versus short grass. not trying to stir up **** but just trying to get everyone to play and understand the OB's and play them the same way. thank you

i know if one of the 67's that got pinched out of 4th place for a shot on C-hole. that landed in the circle of rocks.

Good to see tree out and playing must not have lost much on his game if they shot -4 ...NICE

Yeah it was nice to see TREE out again......says something about his game to be playing only the second round in over a year and shoot that score in that wind.............but after seeing him today, you would have thought he was in a football game not playing golf, as he said to me "May, my body hurts all over today".....So I told him to show up more and the pain would go away over time. I guess I never thought that all the walking and throwing we do is really a good workout....now I can say I DO workout 2-3 times a week........Hang in there TREE and hope to see you more often this spring & summer....

ok folks here are the OB rules for weds and sunday .. if you are unsure if you are in or not please play a provisional then we can figure it out at the end.

2M rule and cable that runs around the park is OB line.
>>
>> Hole 1 water past basket is OB.
>>
>> Hole 2 water on left side and on or beyond sidewalk on the right side
>> is OB.
>>
>> Hole 3 surrounded by water in creek on left hand side is OB.
>>
>> Hole 4 surrounded by water in creek on left side and past bridge / on
>> or beyond sidewalk on right side is OB.
>>
>> Hole 5 fence line on right side is OB line
>>
>> Hole 6 fence line on right side is OB line
>>
>> Hole 7 fence line on right side is OB line
>>
>> Hole 8 fence on far right side is OB .
>>
>> Hole 9 double mando.
>>
>> Hole 10 cable past hole by road is OB line.
>>
>> Hole A cable on left side and on or beyond dirt road on right side is OB.
>>
>> Hole 11 On or beyond sidewalk on right side is OB.
>>
>> Hole 12 No OB's
>>
>> Hole 13 on or beyond sidewalk on right side is OB.
>>
>> Hole C OB is circled pile of rocks. If no paint use where the tall grass begins as the OB line.
>>
>> Hole B no OB'S
>>
>> Hole 14 no OB's.
>>
>> Hole 15 no OB's.
>>
>> Hole 16 water on left side and walking path on far right are OB.
>>
>> Hole 17 water on left side is OB.
>>
>> Hole 18 In electrical fence area and past basket on or beyond
>> concrete parking lot is OB.
>>
>> So no OB on the schule for right side C hole nor left side of hole 17.
>> And no OB in standing water for 4,6,7,11. Only flowing water in creek
>> beds is considered OB water.

No it's not your problem since you were the TD - the confusion came out of the statement BEFORE the round of playing original OB - we played a provisional and then asked after the round. Many people had different opinions including V who stated it was OB since many consider this OB original since it has been there now for years. ET counted it as OB at that time. I asked you once you got back on the ruling when your answer was - To Bad, I called all blue flags in-bounds. I understand now it would have meant we would have tie you and this meant a few less $$$ to you thus no discussion and we take the penalty. I am happy to follow this philosophy as well in the future if it benefits me then count me in otherwise forgot it

edman
Apr 02 2010, 10:49 AM
Not true Mikey. I did not know you played a provisonal. Had I known that I would of definately given you the stroke back. My bad and I do apologize. I'm not one to squabble over a couple of bucks, sorry you see it that way. I'll cover your entry this Wednesday. Most of the paint is gone and you can't see it. So that would of opened up a whole new can of worms. Again Mike sorry about that. So if someone wants to take a couple hours out of there day and about $20 go repaint them.

Lala
Apr 02 2010, 11:06 AM
It was announced before cards were drawn that none of the paint was OB - I doubt anyone listened since most everyone was talking or getting CFO's.

We don't play the tournament rules because we can't even get people to play the regular OB right - 2 metrs, creek & beyond, etc. On hole 9 there is OB - the double mando. Heard a member say a week ago that they didn't know that was a mondo - I know, you'd think the orange paint & M's would be a good clue, but...

We all know members look at Wed from many perspectives. Some people are just there for the good time & don't care about their score - it's hard to mix people that wanna get hammered & not think about jacksheet with those of us that wanna get hammered and play by the rules as they are published in e mails and on discussion boards. I play by all the rules & am aware of them all the time - I helped make them along with the rest of the old cabinets. If you asked every member, they'd have difrent ideas of what's OB - like across the creek on hole 2/4 by the bridge. Yes, that's OB. 2 meters - they don't know & next week the answer would not be the same. I bet if you asked all the cabinet members, they may have differing opinion on what the OB is too. Unfortunately, many players don't care, don't listen, & don't retain information. Good news is we're playing for a $3 bet, so it's truely not the end of the world. At the end of the night, you know if you played well, so let's grab another CFO & enjoy ourselves.

Sorry there was confusion again this week. As of next week all the OB's Ware listed & the mando's will be in effect for Wed & Sun, miss added score cards will be stroked & there will be no late sign up & the cabinet will not hold payout for next week.

Next week skins - payout by # of skins won. We'll take the number of players times $3 divided by 21 holes divided by the number of cards sent out - it comes out to about .57 per skin with 4 person cards. Sign up cuts off @ 4:45 - 5:00 tee.

T2. Cware / Blair, edman/jd, LBA/andrew 61 split $33 should of been $44
The kitty was short so maybe a 1 or 2 forgot to pay so it's a wash. Club will put up $6 ctp next week.

whos got CTPs?
Lets think about:
The next two weeks play singles (very small payout)
$1 to club
$1 to ace pot$
$2 to CTPS
$1 payout
Take those scores and develope HANDCAPS for everyone, so we can play a handicap league?

thoughts?

My thoughts are this is a great idea and changes up the format for the good. Most pro's with am ratings that come out on Wednesday's probably won't like it. The ams that are baggers will love it I think. Now who would track the scores? It's not coming into the Coffeyshop, I can tell you that. But maybe some eager computer savy member would take the reins of it. I don't think we should do it every week. But it may be necessary to run singles for at least 3 in a row to get our handicaps established. Then we could go back to every other. I think it's cool and different, something we haven't done in a while. Now what do the rest of you lurkers think?

There is one down side of it. No more norussellnorussellnorussell chants!

seewhere
Apr 28 2010, 12:52 PM
or you could assign handicap strokes off ratings.

990-1000 no strokes
980-990 1 stroke
970-980 2 strokes

and so on..

Many of our members are not PDGA members & don't have ratings, so this is iffy.

I like the idea of 3 weeks of singles to establish a handicap before it's too hot for weekly singles on the Big Course - don't care about how the $5 gets paid out & not traking it myself. Then we could play singles once a month or so when the weather is good & not too windy.

My favorite long-course format/league, was 3 years ago when we played singles for 10 weeks and kept averages, throwing out best/worst rounds and averaging in the rest. Perhaps part of that was that I played alot of rounds with Ricky during that league. :)

I like the idea of singles and I agree that someone will need to keep up with the scores and that it should not happen this week so we can let everyone know it will next week.......I can keep a spread sheet, on paper, but would be nice if someone could do it on a computer................I also agree that it should not be a everyweek thing, but it will be a nice change to the summer formats..............is it 4:20 yet?????

AS I lurk from work, while ya'll argue over golf, you could try:

Best Score Doubles but, both players play out the hole completely instead of the hole being completed as soon as the first putt/lowest score is in. Keep a Team Total and the total for each player.

That way you could still play Doubles but generate Singles scores for all players to establish thier Handicaps.

That does not solve your "who manages the spreadsheet" problem.

Good Luck, would rather be out arguing this on the course instead of in the Fab.

Did our President say we need to put a Waaaaaaaambulance in the budget? Man you thought concrete was expensive. No way we can ever afford that with a singles turnout. I say we go to the city and ask them to put a bond on the next ballot. It should help keep the crying to a minimum...if we can get them to staff it and have it run 24/7. See Ethan, sometimes everyone needs a ride home from the Poppy Festival
