anyone have a light weight Pro Starfire for sale they could bring to the mini tomorrow?
I have a Star SL, from what i can tell is the same thing as the pro and champion just in STAR plastic. Its pretty new, Yellow, 167. Ill bring it and you can throw it and if ya like it, its yours. we can discuss $$ on the DL. (Down Low)
I got this description from the discnation website.
This disc is made from the same mold as the Starfire Pro and Champion, but has been renamed the "Star SL" in the STAR plastic. The STAR plastic provides exceptional durability and grip, making it a popular choice for players of all abilities.

me fo sho. it was 35 yesterday when i played there and windy with a little fodrizzle. im like JohnEEE, need to knock off a couple of high scores and would like to get in the 50's at least once in this league.
I'll be there to see conditions and then decide.......no-one mentioned anything about powling and cooking???? If you can handle playing, why not powling?? No biggee, see all tomorrow and if God makes it right weather wise, I'll play as well......IF not then CFO's only...These 55 year old bones don't do well in cold temps anymore (not that they ever did)......

WOW Martin that's restaurant quality salsa (or should i say pica?)...you should patent that recipe. :)
Good times as always. Yes, V's ran away with it, it would take quite a round to catch him.....even if he didn't improve his average in his last round, CWare would have to shoot a -9 to tie him. :p
Given JD's highest score he can drop.....CWare can't let JD beat him by more than 3 strokes next week or JD passes him.
Fun times! I really do think we should do League more often. The big course singles league of 2006 was awesome, we should consider doing that again.

Handicap info has been calculated.
For next 6 weeks starting tomorrow, singles handicap league. No payout at end. So each round, $3 of each entry goes to payout.
Details on the handicaps and their calculations, will be posted later today.
Reason its 6 weeks is, after that we move to the BIG ARM COURSE. During these 6 weeks we'll plan out the formats for the big course, and i say we as in all of us....we'll get a vote going somehow, perhaps on Wednesdays, perhaps PDGA poll, or combination of both.
I've got exactly 6 more weeks of a class on Wednesdays, so I'll see you fools on the BIG COURSE. And I don't care what the format is!

Subject: News release noon update --Power Emergency -- Conservation Critical -- Rotating outages still in progress
Noon Update:
CONSERVATION IS STILL CRITICAL AT THIS TIME
ERCOT is urging all consumers who can reduce their energy consumption to do so at this time. Severe weather has led to the loss of more than 50 generation units - more than 7,000 MW, and additional units are continuing to trip offline due to the extreme cold temperatures. ERCOT Grid Operations has asked the utilities/transmission providers to implement rotating outages until the load is reduced through conservation and restoration of generation units. Conservation is very critical at this time to reduce the load on the system.
Rotating outages are controlled, temporary interruptions of electrical service initiated by each utility when supplies of reserve power are exhausted. Without this safety valve, generators would overload and begin shutting down to avoid damage, risking a domino effect of a state-wide outage.
As of noon, 2000 MW of the rotating outages had been restored, and 2000 MW remains under rotating outages.
One megawatt is roughly enough to power 200 homes in extreme temperatures.
Mid-morning update:
Last night around midnight, the ERCOT grid began experiencing numerous forced outages of generation due to the cold weather. As of 9 am, more than 7,000 MW of capacity was still out of service or not producing at its expected level.
Rotating outages were implemented around 5:30 a.m. this morning to shed 4000 MW of load. The rotating outages are continuing as this time, although the amount has been reduced to about 3000 MW.
We expect the rolling outages to continue until a sufficient amount of generation is back online. We are continuing the appeal for energy conservation.
Further updates will be provided when additional information is available.\
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Contact: Dottie Roark, ERCOT, 512-225-7024
Power Emergency - Conservation CRITICAL--Rotating Outages Have Begun
- 6:54 am, Feb. 2, 2011, Austin -- The Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) has instructed utilities to begin rotating outages to compensate for a generation shortage due to numerous plant trips that occurred because of the extreme weather.
Rotating outages are controlled, temporary interruptions of electric service, typically lasting 10-45 minutes per neighborhood. The locations and durations are determined by the local utilities.
It is not known at this time how long the need for rotating outages will last.
Consumers and businesses are urged to reduce their electricity use to the lowest level possible, including these steps:
* Limit electricity usage to only that consumption which is absolutely necessary. Turn off all unnecessary lights, appliances, and electronic equipment.
* Businesses should minimize the use of electric lighting and electricity-consuming equipment as much as possible.
* Large consumers of electricity should consider shutting down or reducing non-essential production processes.
See more conservation tips at "Powerful Advice," Public Utility Commission of Texas:
www.puc.state.tx.us./ocp/conserve<http://www.puc.state.tx.us./ocp/conserve>
BACKGROUND
A Power Emergency indicates that the regional electric grid operator, the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT), has instructed utilities to implement rotating outages to reduce load.
Rotating outages are controlled, temporary interruptions of electrical service initiated by each utility when supplies of reserve power are exhausted. Without this safety valve, generators would overload and begin shutting down to avoid damage, risking a domino effect of a region-wide outage.
Rotating outages primarily affect residential neighborhoods and small businesses and do not typically include critical-need customers.
The outages are limited to 10-45 minutes before being rotated to a different neighborhood. Some customers may experience longer outages if power surges cause equipment failure during the restoration process. Customers can minimize power surges by turning off appliances, lights and other equipment, except for one task light to determine when power has been restored.

i like the idea if you know you cant hang out after you only have to pay $1 ace and $1 club. no sense in donating if you know you cant stay!!!!!
Why stop there - lets just have the mini be free & if you hit an ace you can pay into the ace pot & if you play well you can buy-in for payout (all money collected after the round). If you play poorly & don't ace it costs nothing - cause you "knew you couldn't hang out after."
You posted food & powling, but forgot the food & then left because you were playing poorly & had tickets to the game (having tickets does make it seem more legit than just buring out after a bad round). If you were having the round of your life you would have stayed & been a little late to the game - RIGHT?
It's a mini - it cost $5 if you wanna play the mini - if you play good - it's $5 bucks, if you play bad - it's $5, if you leave early - it's $5 - if you stay late - it's $5. If you wanna play for $2 & leave when you lose your patients it's not at the mini - IMO

The ladies had the option to pay $2 during singles (not handicap) on the big course in an effort to increase ladies turn out. Offering the option to pay $2 to increase the turn out of quitters - nah.:)

Chris mentioned during sign-up he would need to leave early and might not finish his round. He also mentioned to the card he would need to leave early.
On the payout subject - I personally feel w/ a flex start and the fact that some cards take much longer to finish than others - it does not make sense to have people possibly waiting an additional hour or two to see if they made payout and recieve their money.
Not sure that forcing people to be present to get payout is good for Disc Golf. Also think this thread and these responses are also bad for Disc Golf.
Cabinet will address the payout subject.

Laura wins the handicapped based mini with a landslide victory of 4 strokes over the next place. Both Manny and Laura have excellent actual rounds. Vinnie gets lowest actual score with -7 followed by -5 for CWare. Several people's handicaps were affected....Lala's and Manny's drops down a stroke, mine goes down a stroke, and several others were affected as well.

r u trying toto say you don't want me to play? this leage was made for me - 11 strokes - I'll have to keep my bada$$ game under control this week so I don't lose too many strokes for the last week of this league.
What's the next league guys? Heard something about handicap on the big course, but it doesn't seem fair to take handicaps from a pitch & puTT to a real course. If handicap is it, are we gonna re-establish new handicaps after the move by playing (here it comes) singles on the big course for a few weeks? Singles or handicap could be hard to pull of with short days unless we play as threesomes.

Cabinet meets this Sunday and will determine the format for the big course. There are several thoughts so provide your feedback to a cabinet member tonight.
Ideas:
- couple (2) weeks of doubles then on to a handicap league
- go straight to a handicap league
Handicap thoughts are:
- you take your winter handicap to the big course for week 1, then the handicap is calculate off your last 3 scores.
In your case laura:
- you would take 11 handicap to big course (par 63)
- lets say you shoot 11 over - handicap score would be even - 63
- Week 2 handicap would be 74 (what you broght over) + 74 (what you shot) = 11 handicap
Still working out the details but would love to hear club member feedback.

Mar 02 2011, 12:50 PM
Those with higher handicaps DO have an advantage, but only because on any given day, there's more chances to play better than usual....i mean with a -4 handicap you are already playing close to ideal....with a +11 though.....complete opposite...more chances to excel better than usual, as Lala demonstrated last week. :)
And that's EXACTLY why we do it.....the better players don't get to dominate as they usually do. :)
