Member 152 hits the ace on 11 - nice shot. Ace pot is now $0. With Johnee's $250 a few weeks ago, he leaves Joe with only $204 - not bad for one throw. Get back out there and start building it again!

Ben aces #10 off the tree. Lala, I think Ben plans on showing up next week for the massive $75 ace pot payout. Ben, don't forget me, Keith, Albert, and Tony were on your card and we all yelled too (just not as loud as you did, heh).
1. Denton/MattHarris -5 (52) $30
2. Tony/Tony -4 (53) $15
3. Chili/SteveO -3 (54) $6
For those of you double checking, yes Tony payed and played double cali, and I neglected to factor in the additional $3 into the payout. Lala, let me know how you want to handle that.

I drove by OSP yesterday. Now, hole 6 is completely ripped up. Ironically, the basket is still there! Its surrounded by large piles of dirt and earth movers, lol.
THE CABINET'S PLAN IS STILL TO MEET AT 4:30 AT HOLE #1. Yes, we will need to play Winter tomorrow, and possibly going forward as well. Since we can't guarantee we'll get the word out to everyone, that's why we are saying meet at #1, and given that we are going to play Winter, we'll have time to do the draw and get over there. Sucks? I agree! We had no advance warning. :/
Also, it appears that this work is moving forward and might possibly affect regular holes 7-10 in the near future. Its not entirely obvious at this point. I would expect that given we'll get a better look playing Winter tomorrow, we'll be better able to answer that.

o 4:30 Winter course, 2x9 hole loops until construction allows us to play full Winter
o Match play until after Teams (after Teams, we switch to singles and/or skins, TBD)
o Powling starts next Wednesday 10/13
o For first night of powling, club provides charcoal/meat for grill, club members bring sides
o Start time rolls back on Wed Nov 10 after daylight savings time has ended (time TBD)
Note for match play:
if #players divisible by 4 ==> 4 man cards, 6 holes per match
else if divisible by 3 ==> 3 man cards, 9 holes per match
otherwise, singles and/or skins

We played singles for payout, and Match for bragging rights. Next week, we'll have a 2-man team handling the scorecards/payout so that that process runs more smoothly. That'll make it easier, for example, to deal with cards that didn't total up match play results, and to verify the results. Also, next week we'll actually use the match play results for payout. Surely that'll make the effort fall more into place with the rewards.
Having said that, here's the scores. Seeware blows the field out of the water with a -7 which was pretty damm good considering the wind we had to deal with.

We were fortunate last night to have a basket and computer for powling, to go along with the club-provided fajitas and grub. To that end, we had one round of powling that initially was won by Ed until JD pointed out a scoring error (a strike marked as a gutter) that resulted in JD with the highest score.
The food was awsome, and just the right amount. Next week I am going to guess that the food quality will go down to the sausage level, but it'll still be good.
See y'all next week. Hole #13 4:30 cutoff, draw at 4:35pm sharp.
One more thing I'd like to add.....we should all be aware that to get change, its better to approach it in the right way. I thank Seeware for talking me through the finer points of handling a match play mini, after the round as well as this morning. Expect it to work smoother, more efficiently, and better communicated next week.

My point exactly.......In true match play score means NOTHING........Keith you are on the cabinet and not sure of the format.
As a player I like to know exactly what the format is........You ever ask yourself about all these new members we have in the club, that used to play with us and now they don't show up. I wonder if it has anything to do with format or uncertainy of format........I am an old member and thats my reason.......Now don't everyone get their pantys in a bunch....have fun...enjoy....play for fun.....good times.

Second round of powling, Abel throws $10/extra into the pot for a $20 payout.....Jamie wins with a 145, Martin/JohnE/Abel tied for 2nd....in the ensuing playoff for 2nd and a whopping $5....all i know is it wasn't me, lol (i got distracted about that point)

i think we're focussing on last week which is not how its going to go, going forward. Last week I f*cked up. I made a bad decision. We will never again play match play and do payout by total score. Its over.
Yesterday, we played pure match play in pro. We did Skins for Ams because their player count wasn't divisible by 4.
Now lets be crystal clear about what we'll do going forward:
We will play Match play through Wednesday November 17th; if we can't swizzle the pro/am player counts to get a # divisible by 4 (required for Match play) then we'll fall back to Skins for one or both divisions. Total score will be meaningless.
After November 17th, we'll probably start playing pure Skins for some amount of time. Format and how long, though, are open to discussion. Everyone's input is important here, and it counts. Another option is a straight singles league. Let's make it our goal to decide by the time Teams is over, what format to play after that. We've got the time to mull over the options. Perhaps a vote when we're all at teams? Personally i think we'll have time to do both a Skins league, and a singles league, between the end of teams and the start of daylight savings time. I think there's around 20 wednesdays in there.
From now till daylight savings time kicks in again in the spring, we'll do our best to make it so that after the round, we grill and powl. That's a turnout-wide effort there to bring together food and baskets. So far we are 2 for 2. :)
Another thing I'd like to do is get some sort of powling LEAGUE set up that spans, say, 10 weeks (or perhaps.....the entire powling season), with a championship at the end. THAT would be cool. I've got this week's statistics saved, but to be fair, we should probably start next week. Anyone interested in that?
And one more thing, where the h*ll was JD last night??? heh

Oh and a big thanks to Abel for stepping up with all that food he brought. THAT's an example of what it takes to make the after round fun be that much better. :)
And Martin......i stuck that big pack of jumbo hotdogs that you left in my ice chest, in my freezer.......i'll have it next Wednesday.

4:30 start, new winter course layout - C hole is hole 1. Ware will have cards marked with new layout. New $50 bounty for landing on top tier of both B holes for current members. The ace pot is $500 per Wednesday (current members only) - multiple bounties can be paid in one night.
15 players this same week last year so yep 19 is GOOD turnout.. !!?!!
Hey LALA is the above statement still accurate about the bounty on landing on the top shelf of B-hole???

ah have GREAT DAY
Vincent
I think John EEEEEE addressed your statements as best as can be done. Its real hard to please everyone every wednesday night. Part of the problem was with construction on the course which took us over to the winter sooner than in other years past. This club started wednesday's playing doubles for NO money. Then over the years money has become the thing everyone wanted to do. When money is involved with people, alot of the time it causes problems like, can't win enough in doubles or can't play due to the 5.00 dollar entry. Seems every wednesday for me at least and a maybe alot of the others that its a fun night, I don't come out to WIN money and If I do, its a bonus for the fun night out. Others get PO'ed if they don't or complain about the format or had a bad day at work or a fight with there spouse, whatever..........Wednesday's were formed as a fun night out with fellow members. If some people can't handle that or don't like it, then they can run for office in the club and make changes as they see fit. Otherwise, shut your pie hole, come out and play with the rest of the CLUB members and have fun or go where ever the heck you want to go and play. Its things like this that has me so PO'ed about the club and the reason I am retiring from the board at the end of this term. Then I will be able to sit back and watch what happens with the club going forward. I know that we have plenty of great people in the club and they will become the new leaders of the club and I know that going forward all the petty BS will go away.............So for all you money or nothing guys and only will play if its singles or don't show up cause you guys don't keep the same format each week or change it week to week, get off your butts and do something about it, otherwise shut the hell up and go play with someone else's club, cause all your doing is dragging a negative into a positive for most of us..........If I hurt some peoples pride, to darn bad, I'm 54 years old and life is short and I don't have time to pamper people kiss their butts or whatever the little babies need. If you don't like it, change it, otherwise again, shut your pie hole.
Now, thats more than I have said in a long time, and have no problem having this conversation with anyone any wednesday night face to face.....I am easy to find on wednesday, so come and get some..

JohnE make sure all member are able to vote .....not just the ones that show up on Wednesday or on this forum....and thanks for addressing the issue in a manner that is expected from the leaders of a club
Ware you should be the next treasure...you seem to keep good books....hell get on the board any postion.........your always envolved with club/cabinet business anyways
May....its not about money...... FOR ME I don't need to play for money during the week...I make plenty golf money on the weekends
Its about knowing what can be expected. This is not at all about me....you all can make it all about me if you all need to justify yourselfs. But there is a big picture here.....like the same four or five people do all the work for the club, or where have all our members gone, or what direction is the club headed..............check the bylaws.............
By the way CAT HOLLOW has a single mini EVERY Saturday.....no vote needed

Lala
Nov 09 2010, 02:59 PM
What possible solutions have you thought of?
No, I'm not being an a. I thought we could pay one card individually for the skins or give the 3 of them their $3 back since they played a diffrent format.
In the past, even when we offer flex start, everyone stands around bsing until the last card is supposed to go anyway & I think everyone has mostly played the same format in the end.
ok weds is one day away .. who wants to powl and if so who is bringing what for the grill? i can bring computer with music and cloth basket.
Will probably not make it in time to play the round tomorrow due to work (thank god I have something to do at work), but will get there in plenty of time to powl....will grab some deer sausage from the deep freeze to bring as the wife does not like it that much anyway, and i would rather share it than eat it by myself.....going to be running all day so will not have a chance to check and see what else is being brought out for cooking tomorrow so if someone could grab some torts that would be nice..See all at some point tomorrow....
P.S. I still have the BBQ tool from last week for flipping sausage/wings/whatever in my truck..........................

Should be plastic - that's what every other club in the US does - but I'm not sure.
Planning on pot luck - I'll bring some smoked turkey we cooked while playing North Town this weekend.

Should be plastic - that's what every other club in the US does - but I'm not sure.
So was the tuesday summer mini a one time thing, paid $10, AMs got cash payout weekly and at the end of the 10 weeks, if you had the points, AMs got a 10 week payout. AND SON OF A GUN, I GOT A PAYOUT.
How that goes from Cash to plastic, ????????
That was one of the best ran minis that was around.
I loved it and looked forward to it every week.
Why was that format/payout abandoned?
Tell ya what, Im just a newbie, an AM player.......
Seriously, Im on a ledge here, talk me down.:confused:
This may cause some whip-lash, but these are my thoughts. From the time we started charging to play the wednesday mini, we have allways paid out in cash (pro & am). At some point last year or maybe early this year we changed it to plastic and that did not seem to work due to low number of am's. I know one week I won am's and my payout was 8.00$$........we don't have 8.00$$ disc so i got a spotter and a credit which i never used and/or forgot about. So we went back to cash payout's on wednesdays. Believe me I am no pro, but play it so I can learn from the pro's no matter how bad I play, it seems to help in the long run (teams was an example this year). I still don't have their arms but have learned that smart golf sometimes beats big arms. All I can tell you guys (Abel & Manny) is that this club listen's to its members and the new cabinet coming in will also listen to the members, so hang in there, enjoy friends and some golf and believe that whatever the bump in the road give us, we have the power to fix the bump and move forward. I don't play sundays due to the 10.00$$ entry so I can't say anything about sundays. But I do play wednesday's and for 5.00$$ its worth it to me to play pro and donate my cash to someone else's pocket cause I get to see and be around great people and great golf and I learn from it and sometimes cash. I wish and hope that just because every club in the US does it that that does not dictate what our club does as like i said before, we have allways paid out cash for Pro & AM for as long as I have been in the club, and that has been since the beginning. So don't go away, stick around and work with us to fix the bump. Hopefully you are off the fence now. If not, then these words have fallen on deaf ears........Hope to see you guys tomorrow.......

Well May, You have a way with words and have explained things that help me to see things in the right manner and i appreciate that. I will go with the way things are done and if there are any changes/bumps, i will present them to the powers that be and let them vote on them. I will see everyone on wednesday.

It was Vinnie, Jimmy, and Bryan and I, and when we were putting, Vinnie said "It sounded like a hail storm" with all the missed putts hitting metal...it was "interesting" to borrow LaLa's term...Nice Round ET!!

Folks, here's one doc that has it all....the league info, weekly results, and the league standings, including the running total for end of league payout. Yes, it is a .txt file. No, it is not a spreadsheet.
I'd like to point out that for this 10 week league, we WILL be paying ams in cash during the weekly minis. It will be the end of league payout where the ams will receive merch. No, we don't disagree with the things that some have pointed out about plastic vs cash....especially Blake's well written post. Yes, we realize that things aren't always consistent as we want them to be. :D
Here's the league info:
http://pages.suddenlink.net/johne/WinterSinglesLeague.txt
The top section are some details of the league; i'd be glad to fill in anything I left out, just contact me at
[email protected] The middle section contains weekly results/scores. The bottom section has the standings. I'll update this each Thursday and send a note out that the page above has been updated.
Manny, can u create a link to the page above, on the Mini tab on the DoubleR website? Thanks! (perhaps we can discuss access so that i can deposit updates to this file weekly on the site hosting our club website...if so i can set up a redirect from the above link, to the Double R site, if it moves there)
Alright, so where do we go from here? Down to lower scores, hopefully. These #'s are embarrassing! Note that you have to play at least 7 of the 10 rounds before your high scores start being dropped. See yall next Wednesday!

Good times with bad scores - only 7 weeks left, hope I can pull 6 reasonable rounds out of my arse between now & then. What a goober - an 8. There are no 8's on the winter course, there aren't even any 8's on the big course. Double OB - how stupid is that? What a goober.
