Ok, we got approval to lay the concrete down on A and B holes on the 27th. We need to form them up the 26th before 4:20 so Kenny (park super) can approve. They will do the scraping for us like before on Thursday. We form Friday and pour Saturday morning. What we need is 2 concrete mixers (Martin and John D has 1 each I've heard) and a 3/4 ton truck to go to Home Depot and get a pallet of concrete bags. With enough folks this should be about 3-4 hour gig. Then within a few weeks we should have the course completely re-numbered 1-21. If your not going to Texas States please come out and help. We'll burn some meat on the grill for lunch. Who's in?

The club has received approval to go ahead and set the t-signs for the a,b,c holes. Seemed logical to just knock this out at the same time we are there with the concrete and the crew. The parks was a little hesitant at first (can't understand that) but they are on board now. We will have to dig those holes ourselves and I would love to have enough folks there to get it done on Friday. I'm trying to get half day off on Friday so me and Byron can get us organized and done. I'll need some help Thursday machining the posts to accept the sinage. They will come back at a later date to put the sign in. Let me know tomorrow who can help.

We'll also need a few wheelbarrows and some 5 gallon water jugs for mixing the concrete with. Please bring them tomorrow if you can't attend this weekend. Waiting on an answer from Martin on the use of his mixer from work, should know today.

We need to have another bag tag tournament. It is on our topic for discussion for this months cabinet meeting on Monday night. I would somehow like to turn this into the Double R Club Championships which we would hold yearly to determine division champs. Club championships are traditionally held close to the end of the year after most tournaments are over. So i would suggest having a bag tag tourney and then the Club championships in the fall. I'm getting some prices on putting the new t-signs for A, B, and C. There not cheap, close to $700 for the 3 plus the 1 we lost on #15. We've got less than 10 tags left. The concrete project was right around $350 so if we had a bag tag tourney we could charge $20 or $25 with $5 or $10 going to the concrete and t-signs. I'd love to know your thoughts so quit lurking, and let us know what you think.

seewhere
Apr 16 2010, 12:08 PM
charge $20 and you have to already have a tag. then $10 to payout and $10 to tee-sign fund.

charge $35 if you need tag and want to enter tag tourney. with $10 payout, $5 to pay for tag and $20 to tee sign fund.

we sell just tags for $15 right now correct?

Apr 16 2010, 12:23 PM

Got a good phone call today from Kenny the parks super. He has a meeting with his boss tomorrow morning to discuss paying for the 4 t-signs we need and the 11 patches for re-numbering the course. He is trying to get the full amount approved so the club doesn't have to come up with any funds. If he can pull this off I told him we would be more than happy to go install them all on the course. It is so nice having a golfer as the parks super. I'm trying to dig up some Cobra's and Stingrays for him, he throws old school plastic. If you have a few you want to part with please get them to me. Just got a call from Kenny at the parks dept. He has been able to get approval for PARD to pay for the 4 signs but not the patches. There new budget starts in Oct. so they wouldn't be able to do it before then. The club is going to do the patches (renumbering 11-21) and install them. We are going to go ahead and put the plywood in the 4 signs so they can't get vandalized by the local heathens soon and the patches. When the signs are ready in the fall we will come back and install them. We can go ahead now with this and the re-numbering whenever we are ready as a club. Should take about 6 bodies and 3-4 hours, so please let me know if you can help out. I should have the patches in about 2 weeks. Dig up some more cobras, vipers and gazelles you have so we can show Kenny how much we appreciate him going to bat for us. The patches and plywood will run us about $150. We also need some white outdoor paint if anyone has some. Thanks...for coming out.

Got word back from GTPARD on The Rivery:

Mr. Gonzales,

We have been working on mowing and weed eating the course. Our trail guy mowed all the fairways and opened up the rough last week. If you have a chance to look at it and let me know if it is sufficient, that would be helpful as I do not play. We will keep it maintained on a two week schedule throughout the rest of the growing season and then will taper back in the cooler months. We will work on the graffiti issues this week as well.

Thank You,

Hello all - hope Summer has you finding the fairways! Wanted to share some updates regarding the club mini schedule - there's been some changes & some additions.

Weekly:

Tuesday: NEW San Gabriel Park - singles details listed below - $10 - 5:00 start
Wednesday: OSP - varied format - $5 - 5:00 start
Thursday: Wilco - varied format - $8 - 5:15 start
Friday: Winter Course - doubles skins - $0 - varied
Sunday: NEW rotation listed below - varied format - $10 - 9:30 start

NEW - Tuesday: Singles @ San Gabriel park until northtown park opens $10 entry 10-dollar entry fee- 1 dollar to the club - 2 dollars to the ace pot - 5 dollars to payout- 2 dollars to the bonus payout - top two spots will pay cash every week. 65% first 35% second
4:45-5:00pm start.

This will be a singles all bag tags will be up for grabs. It will run on a 10 week schedule. Every 10 weeks we will tally up all points and there will be a bonus for the top 3 participants. The ace pot will start at $100 dollars courtesy of round rock nissan. (only club members will be eligible for $100 bonus ace pot money) the points system will work by taking your top 5 finishes over the course of the 10 weeks. Points will also be awarded for just showing up. Therefore, if you do not win, you will still have a chance at the bonus. Here is a break down of the points.

1st place will receive 20 points
2nd place will receive 19 points
3rd place will receive 18 points
4th place will receive 17 points
5th place will receive 16 points

and so on all the way down to 1 point. (if that many people show up) you will receive 5 points just for showing up. Your 5 best finishes will receive points, but if you show up all 10 weeks, you will receive 50 points plus your 5 best finishes. (only club members will be eligible for the bonus payout)

round rock nissan is chipping in $100 dollars toward the bonus every 10 weeks. Ctps will payed out in merchandise every week.

New Sunday Rotation:
1st - Wilco - Singles
2nd - OSP - Doubles
3rd - Rivery - Doubles
4th - Brushy 9 hole - TBD (Doubles I think)
5th - Manor - Singles

Hope I didn't miss anything, but I'm sure I did.

As for club events -

Outlaws sanctioning has been sent in & this years Outlaws is set for September 25th & 26th. Mark you calendars now, course selection & negotiations are underway now, I'm sure Edman will have a set schedule approved by the PRD soon. Please contact Edman if you're interested in helping pull off the show again.

Big news that many of you already know, Round Rock & the Double R Disc Golf Club have been awarded the bid for 2011 US Women's Nationals. Round Rock's 1st major. With our little TWC having 100 ladies play in 2010, I can't imaginge the draw USWDGC will have for us. Vinnie & Edman have done a great job promoting ladies disc golf over the years & USWDGC should be amazing. Only with your help can we pull this tremendous event off in Round Rock style. It is set for fall 2011 & planning is well under way. If you'd like to get on board with this production, contact Edman & Vinnie.

Hope to see you in the fairway soon,

Lala

May be moving a little faster than the initially thought, now the best chance of rain is Friday! If it comes this way, outer bands will move in on Thursday.

My daughter got hers there 12 months ago. Good service, good rates, good finance plan, reasonable people to deal with. That was my experience.

Went and saw grasshopper at the hospital....He is better than I heard,
Don't get me wrong this boy will be going through lots of pain! He didn't hit the truck, but dropped the bike avoiding the truck. Broke leg close to the ankle, to the bone skinned knees and hands. His helmit was scared up on the right side....that saved his face and a backpack saved his back but is skinned alive just about everywhere, hell his nipple (ask him to cover it up if you go up there.....it will make you hurt looking at it) is just about scrapped off.
He is in good hands with his family all around him. But will be up there for a few days. He is in RR hospital room#340......room phone number 341-1340. I may go have lunch with him and will pass on yah's thoughts
