Just reading through the Pflugerville Community newsletter and found out that an 18 hole disc golf course is going in and be complete by fall. Has anyone heard about it? If you are at the intersection of Kelly Ln. and 685 it will be a little east of that intersection on Kelly Ln. and on the south side of Kelly Ln. It said that it will be complete by fall? Anyone heard of this?

Drove around Kelly lane this am, went into 3-subdivisions looking for course, and all the way to Weiss lane (going east) found nothing but hike and bike trails (all on south side of Kelly lane). Even drove around and behind that new High School but again, nothing I could find that even looked like a course going in. Need more info and maybe could find wednesday during my travels.

MRI results were a little worse than we'd wanted. :(Appointment with the neurosurgeon was pretty overwhelming. We have Edman's surgery scheduled for Wed am - have to be at the South Austin Ho @ 6am. We'll both be back at the house with a new little ball bearing for his back & a lot less shrapnel Wed afternoon or evening. They say he'll be up and about Thursday & could be back at work early next week. Disc golf is still about 6 weeks out (according to the surgeon), but life is a lot other than disc golf. Ill call if I need a hand getting him into the house Wednesday. See you boyz this weekend. :)

A philosophy professor stood before his class and had some
items in front of him. When the class began, wordlessly he
picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded
to fill it with rocks, rocks about 2" in diameter.

He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed
that it was. So the professor then picked up a box of pebbles
and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The
pebbles, of course, rolled into the open areas between the rocks.

He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They
agreed that this time it was.

The professor picked up a box of sand and poured it into the
jar. Of course, the sand filled up all of the voids.

He then asked once more if the jar was full. ! The students
responded with an unanimous -- yes.

The professor then produced two cans of beer from under the
table and proceeded to pour their entire contents into the
jar, effectively filling the empty space between the sand.

The students laughed.

"Now," said the professor, as the laughter subsided, "I want you to
recognize that this jar represents your life. The rocks are the
important things - your family, your partner, your health, your
children--things that if everything else was lost and only they
remained, your life would still be full. The pebbles are the
other things that matter like your job, your house, your car.
The sand is everything else. The small stuff."

"If you put the sand into the jar first," he continued "there is no
room for the pebbles or the rocks. The same goes for your life.
If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff, you
will never have room for the things that are important to you.
Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness.
Play with your children. Take time to get medical checkups.
Take your partner out dancing. There will always be time to go to
work, clean the house, give a dinner party, and fix the car [, and play
disc golf].

"Take care of the rocks first -- the things that really matter. Set
your priorities. The rest is just sand."

One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the beer
represented.

The professor smiled. "I'm glad you asked. It just goes to show you
that no matter how full your life may seem, there's always room
for a couple of beers."

Edman & I - as most of you already know - got home around 4 & he's doing pretty good. There was a slight complication - that we already knew was pretty likely with the past scaring - but all in all he's doing great.
He'd love company, but isn't aloud out of bed for 5 more days due to the leak of spinal fluid they had to patch-up. Please feel free to e mail, call, or stop by. We'll both be home all day Thursday & his Mom will be with him all day Friday. Visitors are welcome, he's not drinking beer - tequilla & coconut rum are OK though as of Thursday. Drove by today and saw some baskets. From 130 go east on Kelly, turn right on Falcon Pointe. You'll see baskets on the right after the middle school. Looks like a very short course with only a few obstacles. Goes along a hike and bike trail with a new drainage ditch on one side. Unless they have you play a hole and then back up to the next tee box, it looks shorter than Wells Branch. No grass yet around baskets or fairways, just fresh black dirt. Didn't look around for tee boxes so I don't know if they are marked yet.

ok so some of you know about that 9 hole pitch/putt course in Leander on the corner of Bagdad and Osage (Lakeline Ranch subdivision, behind the community swimming pool). Although its a 5 minute walk from my house, I've played it a total of once.....and that was enough. :D

Well NOW.......at the intersection of Osage and Lakeline Blvd, about 1/2 mile down from the course above, there's another subdivision going up and in the front of this subdivision facing Lakeline Blvd, a park w/swimming pool is going up and there's baskets in the ground there as well! WTF? From the closeness of the baskets to each other, its sure to be another pitch/putt 9 hole type. So now i'm gonna have *2* practice courses nearby, neither really worth more than practicing upshots and putting.

There must be some incentive to put in a course into a community park, however crappy that course may be........

Is this thing going on all over the Austin metro area, or just here (Leander), I wonder? Anyone know?

The 18 hole @ Kelly Lane in Pflugerville is just as useless - actually worse as the 4 x 9 tee boxes are facing sideways. Edman suggested we play from 1's tee to 2's basket & have to walk the course twice to get in 18. :) Some of the sideways boxes make great hole on baskets across the little lake in the middle, but other wise it's totally scerwed up. :( Sure would be nice if we were a little more proactive & could assist in the design on these projects - sounds like a calling for captain Buttercup. The Titanium side is great. Now the problem is a piece of calcium or cement on the other side along with some cartilage being pinched. Feels like a knife stuck in the side of my knee. I never knew there was stuff for late comers. I'll have to join you guys sometime just for that.

Finally I'm off on a Wednesday (before Christmas). I'm having that Lasiik thing done to my eyes that day. I wanted to get it done before I turn 40 in January. Does that mean I can play Masters then?

Hey, a friend of mine, Mark Hamzy, really likes to take pictures of disc golf courses. He's got every hole OSP, OSPW, Wilco, The Rivery, etc. up here:
