naw, its not fake ya'll. back in the day when 9X were being prototyped, the hot stamp hadn't been invented yet. They had to resort to Crayola brand magic markers to label their discs.

i had no time to slow down!!! when i got back on e-bay there was something like 16 seconds left. i casually attempted to make my bid and realized i was not signed in!! by the time i signed in and made my bid i almost instantly was notified that i had won the auction!! So theoretically with the time frame i had to work with if i had not made the mistake of typing 1250 i would not have won the auction !!! AND A LESSON WAS LEARNED!! Ok, here is the scenario. I put a disc up on ebay. A purple 174g CE Valkyrie with blue stamp. I noticed a few days later that someone else put up for auction another purple 174g CE Valkyrie with blue stamp also. I dont mind that at all, but the thing that kinda made me mad was he used my picture with out asking my permission. I dont know why he couldn't take a picture of his disc (maybe cause he doesnt have one). The thing that made me more than kinda mad was, when I asked him if that was my picture he used he said NO it wasnt. I will let you be the judge.

I don't have a digital camera. I try to borrow the one from work occasionally and bring it home, but a lot of times it's not available. Sometimes I just search vendor websites or other eBay auctions for a picture of the same disc I'm selling. I don't think there's anything wrong with it, as long as he's really selling the same color and run of disc.

Now it's kind of weird that he denied that it's the same picture.

The thing that I really hate that's happened before is someone actually using my picture and description to list thier auction. Think they were hoping to get the same results, which they didn't. That'll teach em to be original.

I think I am only upset, because he didnt ask permission, and that he denied that it is the same picture. I mean come on, would you guys agree that that is 100% the same picture or am I just crazy? That guy must think I am an idiot.

I looked at the properties of each picture, and they have the same exactly image location.

This sort of pic-nabbing is pretty wide-spread, from what I can tell. Usually the source of the ill-gotten photo was from a large commercial site/manufacturer, rather than a fellow discer. Photos for some categories of goods are pretty well distributed and used commonly. I considered such pics when listing a relative's used electronic item for sale, for example. I never saw one of the pics I took and used to list a disc show up elsewhere. That might make me more than a little irked.

Some eBayers take care to protect their self-created pics by including their own ID somewhere on the photo that can't be readily cropped. This creates a whole additional step in the listing process, so it might not make sense unless you can limit that factor. Maybe print "copyright blah blah blah" on a slip of paper and incorporate that in your photos.

I'm not sure what Ebay's policy is, but I'd bet stuff marked as such would be off limits to others.

It is against ebay's policy to use someone else's picture for auctions. When i first used ebay, i used someone's pic for a disc and they politely told me that I didnt get permission to use the pic, and if reported to ebay could lead to suspension. I looked it up back then, and it was in fact against ebay policy. I took the pic down and put my own up. Do research on ebay listing policy and you'll find the regulation. If the guy won't come clean, just send ebay an email.

Yeah Scott, just tell him that he is fibbing to you and that it is against Ebay policy. You might want to tell him how you know he is using your picture(same image location) and if he doesn't take it down, then you will report him to Ebay.

The reason I am assuming that Ebay doesn't want people using the same pictures is because they don't want to deal with people that say..."what I got wasn't exactly what was pictured on the auction"

it appears that if you put the words "first run" in the description of any disc, it increases the resale value at least two-fold. it's too bad that most people who buy on ebay don't know how to actually distinguish between a first run and any other run, nor do they understand which first runs are actually more valuable than others. who would you say is more at fault in these situations, the uninformed buyer or the overzealous seller?
by the way, what does the "rating" (0-5 stars) below each member's username represent? does it refer to number of replies, content of posts, ratings given by other members, etc? i've never been able to figure that out.

Pretty sure its how other posters rate you/your posts. If you hover over the stars, it tells you how many people have rated a persons s/n.

But did you sell them as first runs? Can you distinguish the difference? I saw that Orc and sent a email asking if it was a night shift Orc, or if it was clear. I never recieved a response. SOmeone on Ebay about 2 monthes ago was selling 1st run Orcs for around the same price, maybe a little less. They stated that only White Orcs were true 1st runs, a statement even Dave D said is inaccurate.I have a stack of 1st runs that are different colors. If they keep going for 30$ , the stack will deplete.

No *****... 240 is more than I even thought it would go for! And not meeting his reserve at 240 bucks for any Roc is crazy. I can assume that it's not because of sentimental value or that he really would like to keep and collect the disc as this guy is trying to sell it on ebay, furthermore, I always see this guy with some outrageous price on a disc. TB- I think that what makes them better depends on the thrower. Some like the "pearl" , some like the "clear". Personally, I bought about 10 clear to semi clear as soon as they were released. I like the Clear because they seem slightly less overstable new then the pearls.Both pearl and clear was in the first release, in all colors. I tell by the rims. Its hard to explain and I can email you a visual, but the best way to explain is to take the oldest Champion Orc you have and the newest and examine the bottom rims. The 1st runs will have solid colored rims { for the most part} whereas the newers have a swirl {usaully the same color, only brighter} that looks almost like it was added later.It should be about in the middle.The easiest way to tell is if you got Orcs in Des Moines.All the Orcs I got form the Lynx trailer had the latter described rims. I have done this over 100 times, and although it may be unrelated, so far it has been correct.Its hard to descirbe in words, but I find this to be more accurate then " belly buttons" , as I have newer Orcs that share the same supposed 1st run belly button.

I think so, but Id ask Eric Egger. He said he had various blues. That is the darkest blue variant Ive seen, very sweet on both.

Call me stupid, but does paying that much for any disc that you plan on throwing lower your scores? If so then maybe i need to buy some of that X-pensive stuff.

No, its just that I want a teebird that is durable because they are my favorite driver. I don't like to have to replace my DX ones after every 3 tree shots, and the new Pro T's and TL's are pretty understable. I think the new Champ Teebirds are junk. They fly way more overstable than even my CE T's are. You are right though, it is a waste of money. Now that I think of it, so was the Orc. I just thought it looked sweet.

The blem that caused it to be an x-out couldn't be too horrible either....most are very small though... you should see the ones that didn't meet the qaulity of an x-out... I'd still throw them.

I agree 100%. Whats so bad about a 22$ X-out? If any one here has a better offer then PM. Personally, Ive seen Innova distributors charge as much as 50$ apiece for badly damaged X- Outs. Thats a bad deal. I would have bid on both those discs if I was online. Just because you see a CE T go for 30.00$ once doesnt mean they are going for 30.00$ when you want one. In the last week I watched 2 CE Ts {later runs} go for over 50.00$.Id say paying less than half for a X-out is super. PM if you got them.

If its him, hes got every right to command a few extra bucks.A disc is worth what someone will pay for it. You dont think theres Ebay sellers that know Climo and cut him in on discs with his sig? A "rumor" I heard was if he needs cash then he turns over some choice plastic, and if its vintage or might not sell he signs them for collector pieces. Look at a majority of the Climo stuff and look at the seller.Its almost always the same people. Or, look at it like this, if you had a 4 time Viper in a limited run do you expect a person to buy that to throw? No, its a collector disc, worth maybe 20-25$, but with KCs sig in gold sharpie , it doubles.If your friends with him and offered him 50$ to sign 5 discs, you think he wouldnt sign one " 4 x Champ" or "6 x champ" or whatever?

Just found out that there are only 15 rocs with this stamp. Here is some info that was PM'ed to me about the disc. I think that the dates mentioned are a little early because Rancho Rocs weren't produced until 1997ish?..?..!

Hi John,
the disc was stamped for a Swedish tour competition in Falun in 1995 or 1996, the longterm memory of this guys are not that good (Must be the age ). Well I think it was 95, but I�m not sure either. There was only about 100 discs with this stamp and 15 where Rocs!
A funny thing is that the stamp states 1981 which is the birthyear of the frisbeeclub in Falun, false after they had made the stamps they discover that the club started in 1980 .

they aren't the same as the Revolution dividers, they look like the person who is building these is basing them off of them though, not too hard to do as those Revolution dividers are made of things you can buy at the hardware store... these actually look much cheaper though, as the nice sturdy divider pieces seem to be made out of cheap pieces of plastic, the same type of stuff Revolution gives you to put in the ends of your bag, and that stuff got all bent up and broken pretty quickly...

I just wanna say that people paying 60$ or more for '05 Tribal Rocs are CRAZY!!!!

I'm thinking they would indicate it if the disc was a Classic Roc and not a regular Roc. I've also never seen transparent Classic Rocs. I've seen DX, Pro, and CE Classic Rocs but they were all opaque plastic.

That is definately a Regular Roc not Classic. Sandalebager justed hooked me up with one that looks just like it and a nice red one as well. They are sweet. They have that soft gummy bear feel to them.

I have one of those dividers. They are made by these 2 dudes who are in my club.
They work SWEET!! but limit your disc holding capacity.
The plastic is thick and definately not easily breakable.
A hell of a lot better than the crap Innova gives you.

I'd like to find out who this [*****] is that is paying $125 for a DX Roc? Who cares if it is old and from a different mold. What a waste of money!

i understand what you're saying. i have no problem with the seller (i've seen plenty of his auctions and they always seem on the up-and-up). what i don't like is titling an auction "1st RUN blah blah blah" when a disc is clearly NOT a 1st run, and the adding a clarifier to the description (as though he wasn't sure if it was 2nd run or not). i believe honesty will always be repaid, especially when dealing with disc golfers, whom i feel are a great bunch of people overall. ;)

I wouldn't be so sure. I have 2 first run CE Eagles EL and they are yellow. Not all 1st run Eagles were red. One of them is still in the bag since I bought it.

No disrespect Eric but judging your player # you weren't around when the disc came out. I on the other hand was and know from first hand expierence that there are first run CE Eagles that are yellow.

No disrespect Eric but judging your player # you weren't around when the disc came out. I on the other hand was and know from first hand expierence that there are first run CE Eagles that are yellow.

It was lost at buckhorn DGC (new hill, NC) in february.

When i realized i lost it, ca. hole 13, i "interrogated" each group playing behind us - it was not to be found. I put out the alert, gave out my email address in hopes that i would be contacted if it was found. no luck.
i have been scanning ebay knowing it would eventually show up. I have contacted the seller in hopes that he will do the right thing and return it to me.

he also misrepresents the disc in the description - the disc weighs 177 grams, not the 180 he claims. The ink stains from "the previous owner" are blue "VOID" stamps top and bottom with the O and D colored red - the O in roc is also colored red. how do I know? <font color="blue">I</font> put those marks there.
If you would like proof that this disc is, in fact, mine - i will post pictures of ALL my discs which have the SAME "VOID" stamp markings.

I think it should go back to the original Owner, but the only debate is that This guy has possession of it and he didn't get possession by means of theft so since it was declared lost it was no longer Property of anyone and thus ok for him to Sell??? I guess that's what he's working on..

Even though it was lost, it is still technically F.luke's Roc.

Let me explain it through this example:

You are riding a cab and your wallet falls out of your pocket. You pay the cab driver with some petty cash that you have in your front pocket so you don't notice your wallet has fallen out.

A couple hours later, you are shopping and you reach into your back pocket and can't find your wallet. The wallet is "lost."

Meanwhile, the next person that rides in that cab finds your wallet. Instead of turning it in, they take all of the cash and credit cards out and use them.

Even though your wallet was lost, it doesn't give someone else the right to find it and use it.



If the seller doesn't go on PDGA, he wouldn't know that F.luke lost his disc. One of my friend's found his CE Aviar last year. We had no clue whose it was because we only saw the "Void" stamped on it and no name or number. Somehow we figured that it was F.luke's CE aviar because we saw a couple other of his discs at a tourny.

Yeah straight up. Even if you lose a disc for two years and see someone else throwing it, guess what, it still yours. Ive taken discs from people with friends names on them with no apology. It was like, hey thats my friends disc, Ill have to take that from you now. If they arent honest enough to contact the owner, they dont deserve any respect. If the person bought it from someone else, then maybe they deserve something in compensation. But I hate it when people come on this site and start spouting off with losers weepers [email protected]#t. We all know what right and wrong is, especially if weve been in the losers shoes and have lost a favorite disc in the past.

And? Id say you got lucky. I have stacks of Whippet-Xs including the elusive Clear/ Ice and wouldnt sell any for less than 15$. I find it hard to believe you found one for that cheap.I usually buy them for 12$ or less off Ebay. Consider yourself lucky I didnt see that one. Its not like you can go anywhere and get stock of these anymore. One or two yeah, but try to find more than that.
