Tonight 2 of the Rarest CE ROCS if not rarest golf discs in the world will be put up for auction.
2003 Clear white ice CE ROC of which there were maybe 4 made in this color.
2004 Clear white ice CE ROC of which 12 were made in this color this year.
These are discs that you've never seen and will probally never see in person. Auction will start at 9:00 est. and run for 10 days. Search words CE ROC - seller LNR101.
This is going to be a chance for someone to own some true "Rare" collectible plastic.

Ive a problem? Which doesnt concern "Couchcruiser" at all in the end? Why will not some of the US ebay-sellers (Just a few of them) deliver to Europe at all(Is this a new subject, maybe)?
Even if I agree to pay the full shipping cost (of course)????

When the EU adopts a standard procedure for how to bribe the postal inspector in order to get the item through customs, I'm sure more US e-bayers will be willing to send stuff to Europe.

My main problem was actually shipping to Canada, not Europe. When the product gets severly delayed in shipping due to customs, ect it is a pain for both the seller and the buyer. I thought I was going to have to refund a buyers 4 disc purchase and they were all collectible discs that I could never get back. Thankfully they showed up over 1 month later and I shipped priority.
Just a thought, but over-seas shipping can be timely and cumbersome

I agree with this, eventually I received my discs after about 1.5 months. He must be a very busy guy. I'm not that patient after I've paid for something, and will not bid again. Even though he sells some nice disc's.
I'd be more then happy to ship to Europe. Let me know what you need. As long as your willing to pay the shipping rate I'll send. Flippin' Discs.com (http://www.flippindiscs.com)

Bruce,
Ive bought a lot of discs from ebay, but mostly from "Discovering the World" and other stores. The package always run trough smoothly, they were never checked by swedish customs officials (No bribes involved :D).
Shipping takes sometimes over two weeks, but thats another problem.
Still, the majority of the sellers are willing to send overseas even if it says US only in their ad.
Last but not least!! E-bay is great thing for us disc-collectors, the only "problem" for us overhere is that the auctions often closes in the middle of the night.... /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I bought discs from the couchcruiser - sure, for some of them I paid premium, and probably a few $$$ more than somewhere else. But so what! If the price is too high, don't bid on it - I don't get your point. And if you got burned on the delivery; if it took more than a week, leave it in the feedback, or e-mail him directly, and ask him what that [*****] is up.
I don't get all that hostility. I am happy that people put up plastic on e-bay, and that I, as the consumer have a lot of choices.

Josh,
Look back in this very thread about a week ago, I asked the exact same question!
People are already auctioning the Iowa Worlds 2004 Super Roc fundraiser discs. Why would someone want to buy one off Ebay when they are still available at Zonedriven?
Here is a response from Dan Corbett:
one reason someone might buy one is because they dont know about zonedriven having them, and another for me is I cant pay through a Credit Card but i can pay through paypal
Josh, you make it sound as if I am being unreasonable - remember I paid $15.00 plus shipping for the disc from Zonedriven. If someone wins a bid at $25 and I pay all shipping costs (usually around $5.00 for the mailer + postage) I am making next to nothing off the disc. And if no one bids on it, then I'll go out and throw it!

Last disc I USPS PM'd was more like $5.75. I did stuff it with paper, though. I'm pretty sure prices went up since the $3.85 days. That and a max-weight disc with a little packing material almost always drives mine up past the minimum price. :(

There you go...and Priority World-wide isn't that much more...$3.85 for the US, gets there in 3 days or less (hopefully - bless our postal system) and if you charge $5.00 total for shipping that covers your paypal and ebay fees almost...

On another note, I recently sold a Red CE Teebird TL on E-bay. The buyer claims it is not a 1st run as I advertised. At this point, I'm not sure if it is or not, but when I purchased it, that was how it was represented to me. I've got about 50 Aviars, most are pre 90's. The only ones that I had fall apart were the ones from the '85 Worlds. Had 2 of them and for some reason they became really brittle. All others are fine. Were yours in bags, boxed, on the wall, exposed to heat / cold?

I keep them boxed in the closet. Currently, I keep them on their sides because I have noticed warping when they are stacked. I just don't have enough room to store them some other way. I also have a Polaris that has turned to rubber. It's really weird.
Been trying to work Chain for years for some of those dang ROCs!!! I eventually just gave up on his punk arse....I mean 1 milllllllion dollars is just to much!

That's strange. I've got my stored several different ways. The stuff in the house is in oak shelves on edge like albums. In the garage I've got them in bags in storage bins, and also in an old soda display rack. The Aviar's that split were in storage bins, not in bags. My collection is a supplement to my $$$ loosing 401k, I'll be screweed if they all break. Wonder if anyone else has had this problem?
well i have had a few problems with warping...but mostly my fault for storing them wrong...everything else has been kept at a decent temp and ive noticed no problems..i never allowed heat or cold to influence the plastic to deform. heh micheal you know pope isnt coming off that roc i sold him. most of his stuff has someones name under it anyway...toddg everytime todd won a disc he would write when and where on the underside..in bold black marker.. i have never heard of the flight plate dropping off ..but there are alot of disc i didnt even try to collect..mostly just the aviars, rocs, vipers , i was going thru boxes last night and i was seeing a pattern proto proto proto metalhead metalhead metalhead beadles beadless beadless roc roc roc.
ive got a few special edition teebirds and leopards gazelles cheetahs various colors a few hot stamped. is anyone trying to find any of those let me know..meaning the se not the others. by the way ..to the guy that asked me the differance betweeen a 1500 and a 2500 . the edge on the 1500 is a little sharper and slightly more dome than the 2500
Ooh you know im gonna get it! :D

I'm the guy that asked about the 1500 disc, thx. Sounds like you have a nice collection. I like going thru mine also, got 1500+. Only ones that the flight plate popped out were the patent pending Aviar from the '85 Worlds. They were both mid 160g's. I'm not interested in any of those SE's. Do you have any Coupe, Ace, or Bullet for sale?
Boo-Hoo :D
Thats been a 5 year deal I've been working! Still dont have it. If I get it, consider it in the family!

I bought it. I bought it using Buy It Now after I had a conversation with the person and told them what I could afford.
The gentleman has stated it was in his backyard, he's moving to an apartment, he has a high user rating, as do I, and I can't speak for him, but I do not steal. I paid good money for the first basket that I bought, and got a fair deal on this one.
I'm just stating the facts... now here's my opinion...
There are some of you on this board that seem to have a problem trusting people. I put online a while back a CE ROC as a favor for a friend that has gone on tour and is a solid person and a great disc golfer. I was offended by the accusations that the disc was stolen.
Let it be known, I don't mix it up with stolen gear or equipment. If it was/is stolen, they fooled me as well.
Don't accuse me, it pisses me off.

^ Hbongola is referring to the polehole that was for sale on Ebay. It was discussed on this thread a little while ago, look back earlier in this thread.
I won't comment on the whole CE Roc issue, but imo, the manner in which the basket was listed on Ebay looked very suspicious - no picture, very little information, etc. With so many stolen poleholes across the country, I cannot say I blame people for voicing their concerns.

Can someone advise me where to go to get the ebay bidding program that will allow your bids to be submitted automatically up to a certain $ amount w/o you having to manually do it?
I just missed out on a Midnight Flyer last weekend because I was at a tourney and only lost it by 50 cents. Sure would have helped.
Thanks

Mar 24 2004, 06:12 PM
Is there such a thing?
okcacehole
Mar 24 2004, 06:21 PM
Yes. There is a program that there is a cost for using that allows you to set you max bid for an items and then it will compete against the other bidders for you and automatically raise the bid for you. That is how many auctions are snuck in the last seconds before the items end time.
dannyreeves

I lost a Zonedriven CE Roc today by 12 cents! :(
widiscgolf
Mar 24 2004, 06:35 PM
Why don't you just bid the max that you are willing to pay? That would defeat the purpose of that type of program.
dannyreeves
Mar 24 2004, 06:38 PM
actually, it wouldn't. you save money the later you bid because whoever has the bid before you doesn't have time to bid again.

Ummmm..............$12. I will give you $15 and save you the trouble of eBay! hehehe. :D
rhett
Mar 24 2004, 07:25 PM
Umm....eBay has the "proxy bid" thing built in. You put in what you are willing to pay but the bid only goes up enough to become high bidder. Unless someone else has a max-bid higher than yours. Then the proxy will bid them up automatically. If you max-bid $100 but it only takes $23.50 to become high-bidder, then you will become high bidder at $23.50. If someone else comes along and max-bids $75 the proxy thing will up your bid $75.50 or $76.00 or whatever it is and you will still be high bidder.
The trick is to bid hard at the last second. (it's called "sniping".) You have to come hard to win the good stuff, and you have to bid late enough (within seconds of auction end) so that whoever you just outbid doesn't have time to submit a new bid. The problem is that if their max-bid is higher than yours, you don't get a second chance because you timed it just right. You really have to bid the most you you're willing to pay to make it work.
One more thing: don't cry about losing an auction by 50 cents. The person who won no doubt had a max-bid WAY higher than yours. The auto-proxy bid thing only bid them up enough to win. If you went higher their's probably would've gone higher. You can't tell how much you "really" lost by because you have no way to know what the winner's max-bid was.
idahojon
Mar 24 2004, 07:39 PM
Yeah, what Rhett said.
Use the proxy bidding feature that eBay provides. It does its own sniping, unless someone else's max bid is higher than yours.
okcacehole
Mar 24 2004, 08:07 PM
Geesh..Rhett..you may catch Marka someday with those responses :D Thanks for the info...I thought in the past it was a seperate program? and trust me, I wasn't worried about missing it by 50 cents. That happens all the time on the lovely disc auction land.
Kid - I will check for you this evening for any ROCS
Moderator005
Mar 24 2004, 09:55 PM
Reminder: bid only once, near the very end of the auction. When you bid early in the auction, the only thing you're accomplishing is driving the price higher; you will still get sniped anyway.
Be the sniper, not the snipee!!!
flynvegas
Mar 24 2004, 10:39 PM
Now the cat's out of the bag on "sniping"! Sorry to all of you for being sniped, and future sniping from me the "frisbeeviper".
Some of you will never get anything done, you'll spend all your time on this board and waiting on eBay to snipe.
okcacehole
Mar 24 2004, 11:24 PM
I don't think it is quite a situation where the cat is out of the bag...if it is an option on ebay now, it is good for all that want to pay for it and available for all. I believe in the past it was a seperate program, more setup for the hacker in you. Either way, you still have a pile of other variables deciding on when exactly that bid is placed.

Thats true. But of course you can't say that in your auction. You are cannot bill for ebay and paypal fees. It is one of there policies. Just call it S&H (shipping and handling) Then again I offer free shipping.
Can someone point me to the link on the Ebay site where it states this? Thanks.

Apr 02 2004, 10:10 AM
It doesn't that I know of...you can charge anything you want for shipping and if I am going to have to pay Ebay once for the sale total and then again for the shipping on paypal, the buyer is going to share some of that expense.
Moderator005
Apr 02 2004, 10:33 AM
The reason I ask is that I just won multiple auctions from the same seller. I politely asked the seller if he would combine the shipping charges, since in all likelihood he will send all the discs to me in one package. The seller replied:
I will not be able to combine shipping on these items. I am making less than a couple of bucks off of each of these, if that.
I fully understand and accept that a bid on eBay is considered a contract and the buyer is obligated to complete the purchase, as agreed upon. However I feel that this seller should have listed his discs with higher initial prices if he was concerned about "making a couple of bucks" and that he is, in essence, stating that his shipping costs of $6 shipping per disc are for profit. I feel that this is not in good spirit and may even in fact violate Ebay policy.
I know I am making a stink over a few dollars but for $141 worth of discs, I think the seller should be more reasonable about this.

Jeff I completely agree... after buying and selling many items on ebay, i've always either combined shipping for the buyer or have been able to pay one price for shipping (even if i add an extra dollar or two per disc.) This seller is completely wrong IMO...if he wasnt happy with getting what he got for the discs he should have spent an extra buck if that and set a reserve... (was it the rocs???) I would defintely leave some kind of remark reflecting the seller's unwillingness to make his customer happy.

I agree also Jeff and would always combine, deliver locally, ect if I can. It is just part of the fact with Ebay owning Paypal also, they are making money 2x's on each items if you use paypal and that does cut into the sellers profit.
Caveat Emptor!

I strongly disagree with both of you, and here is why. IMHO, If the seller didn't say anything about combining shipping, than he doesn't have too. You have to pay shipping on each item. You can make him aware that you will not be doing business with him in the future, but he has the right to run his business the way he wants, and you cannot leave negative feedback. You should have asked before you bid! I only buy from sellers who state that they will combine shipping. And I state on my auctions exactly how I combine shipping charges. I think it sucks that this guy won't combine shipping charges, but you are stuck.

I do agree the seller can do what he pleases, but sometime being a little more accomidating can help future business. Some of us are only selling discs or here and others are selling a wide-range of products. Again - ask first before you buy and when you hit that submit button, you have entered a legallly binding contract
Caveat Emptor!!!
and yes the signatures get old, but if you change them every once in a while you can have some fun with them.

Apr 02 2004, 01:03 PM
Would it be wrong to list discs for $0.05(buy it now) then charge $8 for shipping per disc?
The seller would then pay ebay 5.25% on a nickel(the total sale price), and makes most of his money on the s/h end. That way ebay only makes a few cents for the auction, and the seller would profit more.
ACEHOLE has done exactly that, so apparantly its not a big shocker, though highly scandalous.

eBay provides a good service and gets compensated for it. If you don't think it is worth the cost you should not use it instead of trying to "get over" on them.
There's way too much "trying to get over" going these days, everywhere.
Under a day left on this....

Just received my shipment today for multiple items from the same seller. The seller spent $5.75 on shipping, yet I was charged $19.00 in shipping and handling.
Just doesn't seem right, does it?
I think it does seem right. eBay is a tool for people to make money. Not just a tool for people to make money on what they sell, but to make money period. dm4 said it well...Unfortunalty, I feel it is your own fault for not finding answers to your questions prior to bidding, like eBay reccomends. If you had done so, you would know the sellar is not giving a break on shipping. You have to be smart when you shop, and you can't blame the system when you get outsmarted. I don't mean to be harsh, but this is just the way it works...

Jeff
It does seem right. Welcome to being accountable for your own actions. Like the others stated, your wanting to combine shipping costs should have been established with the seller long before you bid. Also, I like many others who sell on EBay pay money for bubble wrap, packing tape, EBay selling/listing fees... and look to get some of the costs back in the shipping and handling charge. No body put a gun to your head and said buy. Consider it a cheap but valuable lesson.
I don't usually promote but since you are talking about ebay and the shipping prices people charge (yes, I think five dollars for shipping one disc is overpriced) frisbeerancher sells two discs of the same size and same weight at a buy it now price of 19.95 with four dollars for shipping and handling added. This equals out to twelve dollars a candy plastic disc delivered.

Fair enough. But if I pay $19 for shipping, I expect to get $19 worth of shipping. This is a sore point for me, because, living in Hawaii, we often get charged a premium for shipping even when the actual cost is the same as to anywhere else. So if I were to pay $20 for shipping, and then get a padded envelope sent Priority Mail for $3.85, I would be very tempted to leave negative feedback.
Of course, if the auction stated, in clear language, that those were the shipping terms, I just wouldn't buy the item.

I 2nd that one..Frisbeerancher is a class act. My original order got stalled at my post office and then he resent me 2 more Monsters to make amends. When the originals finally showed up later, he gave me the option of either just returning them and HE would pay shipping or letting me buy them also.
Class act all the way on his part and I have bought and sold to him a few times. This is the type of ebayer we need more of

Yes he is a great ebay seller for sure! Do remember this though, retail suggested price is $14 to $15 for candy plastic, and $17 to $18 for dyed candy. That is coming straight from Innova. So when someone pays $28 to $30 for 2 candy discs plus $4.00 for shipping that is the suggested going rate. It varys out there for sure. There are high and low markets out there.

It's always listed as "shipping and handling". It's never the shipping that costs, it's the dang "handling"!
FR does give great service. I got lightning fast delivery from "sweetplastic". The disc was in my hand in 2 days... unbelievable!
I don't know if this is out of line, but my club is trying to raise money to buy baskets and we sell discs at the same prices as frisbee rancher. If you're at all interested, send me an e-mail and I'll send you a list of inventory. ALL PROFITS GO BACK INTO DISC GOLF. We've got a park that is willing to do 18 here in FL that's privately owned, so we need baskets for that and we're trying to get a few skilshots for the club for demos and the like. Fast shipping and anything Innova you want is available.

I have never had a problem with ebayer's or would it be eseller's."lol" They have all been willing to work with me on multiauction's. I have bought a second disc as much as 3-4 day's after the 1st disc and each time there was no problem combining on any of them. Have to send out awsome props to D.Stacey,C. Winkler,The Frizwiz,Bart at ChannelZ, as they all worked with a minor problem that i had with my bank THANX for the patience guy's. Hey, I'll jump on the frisbeerancher bandwagon too. I have sold more to him that I have bought, and transactions both ways went extremely smoothly.
He and I have mutual DG friends, so it's not like he's a nobody in the DG world.

Also, regarding the "costs 5 cents, but shipping is $18" auctions. That is against ebay rules as well, so feel no shame in letting ebay know that. If you're someone who believe in the integrity of DG and upholding its rules, it shouldn't be too hard for you to do.

I have to agree that Jackrabbit is one of the best people on EBAY. I have almost the same Tye Dyes Flyn has plus a few more. Not to take anything from any of the others. There are a lot of great people on Ebay that I have bought from and are always ready to answer any question I have and I can honestly say I have never been stung by any of them.

I received a couple of these from a friend. I don't know for sure, but I am pretty positive they never came out with a TL mold with a KC X Champion Stamp. I have a few TL's I matched them up and they are the same. Then I remembered Dave D mentioned that there might have been a few TL's that escaped the factory this year with KC Champion Stamp. I thought KC Stamp Teebird was only for the T mold, anybody? Just making sure.

Yes this year the Teebird T mold's were marked as TB and the CFR TL Teebirds were marked with a TL.

How long will you wait for payment on an auction? I have an auction that ended over 2 weeks ago and still haven't rcvd. payment. The buyer contacted me 1 time after the auction and has not returned any emails since. I don't want to just go and postive negative feeback and would really rather get the money.

That happened to me once. Give them another week or so and then bust out the negative!
Go ahead and put it out now. Two weeks is more than enough time unless they are sending the money from another country. Plus, if he hasn't contacted you for a week and you keep trying to get messages to him he must be trying to ignore you.

widiscgolf
Apr 14 2004, 01:28 AM
I think Kid_Roc is explaining that it is not eBay policy to charge high for shipping and low ball on the item itself. Meaning eBay doesn't get there $. Trust me I hate eBay or PayPal getting our hard earned cash, but I won't practice this way on our own auctions. So keep that in mind. EBay hits sellers up with a 5.3% (something close to that) on the final sale, not including listing fees. Not to mention that if payment is through PayPal they also get a cut. Everyone gets a piece of the pie.
Thats why when I see discs that Innova or Discraft have posted a retail price of $14.95 and they sell for $9.95 I get a little concerned when players complain about a $5 or $6 S&H fee. The sellers have to make sure some of the cost is taken care. Think about it, it doesn't make sense to lose money so you can't promote disc golf. If you go to the local store most likely champion plastic is $14.95. If you buy from an online store other than eBay the normal cost is $11 to $14 plus $3.85 to $6.00 for shipping.
So the next time you see a Champion plastic, etc up for auction on eBay remember that disc would cost you $14 up to $20 if you bought it at a local store or online store outside of eBay.
Just my 2 cents.
