Well it depends who the buyer is. We all have seen the same disc go for $50, $60 and even $70. I know cause I had auctions that ended that high.

Actually, I just checked and it was $55.

I've been selling discs on eBay for a while now and I've found that there are two ways of selling:

1) Start the bidding at the minimum price you wish to sell it for.

2) Start the bidding at something ridiculously low ($.01 or $.99) and set a reserve price for the minimum you're willing to sell it for.

From my experience, the latter works GREATLY and the former works very poorly. I think the main reason is that people *like* to bid on items when they are cheap. Also, eBay will send that person an e-mail when they have been outbid. The item will also then continue to show up in their "My eBay" as an item they've bid on and they'll be able to follow its progress.

Of course, the latter requires an extra eBay fee for "Reserve Price" selling. I've actually gone to the system of not even setting a reserve price. I've found that with few exceptions, the established "going rate" for a disc will drive the bid price to its "natural" selling price, and on some occasions, even higher. Only on very few occasions has a disc sold for less than I expected it to, and then, only by a few dollars.

To wit, your disc was $55 and it did not sell. You could have set a starting price of $.01 and a reserve price of $55. As it is, you set no reserve price. I'm willing to bet however that many bids will be placed and the bid price will drive up to around $55 and may exceed it, and possibly greatly exceed it. I highly doubt that the disc will sell for an extreme lowball offer (say $20) because the established going rate of a beautiful tye-dyed Firebird like that is around $50-$70, as you mentioned.

All good points and all of which I know already. The reason I put a buy now is only because they had a Fixed Rate Fee Deal going on and I was looking to get paid on this before Worlds. So it didn't sell, I knew I should have put a no reserve and started it at .01. When I do that it normally gets up to what I am looking for.

For these discs, is it really worth it? I mean, two of them are used.

Now maybe I'd invest in gallery pics if I was selling CE Valkyries or 2001 CE Rocs.

Just a thought...I will rarely even look at an item further unless there is a gallery pic..too many discs on here to look at them all 1 by 1

Again, if I was interested in making a huge profit from eBay, I would probably spend the extra money for gallery pics. As it is, I'm just trying to pawn off old discs that I no longer use or unthrown ones that I have no interest in using for a few bucks.

The most I've paid for a golf disc is $350, not on Ebay. It was for 1 out of 160 made 2nd test run Eagle. It's a MINT Beauty!

A Pluto Platter went for well over $6000.00 last year. The highest I have seen on a single disc was in the neighborhood of $275.00 for a clear 01 Roc.

That DiscWing disc is not up to $275.00....It will bring over $300 I bet

Maybe Discwing even will throw in one that can be thrown!!!!!

I don't have nearly the success rolling my Champion Stingray as a DX Stingray. Maybe it's because I can't grip it as well. DX Stingrays roll better because if you get the angle too flat, they will still always try to stand up, giving acceptable distance. Whereas a Champion Stingray will just cut.

I'm still using my original Cadillac Bag that I bought around 1997-1998. The bottoms of both drink holders have ripped out and there is a hole in the webbing on the lid. But the end pocket and side pockets are still intact, as well as all the dividers and the disc storage area. I equipped it with Golf Straps a few years ago, which made moot the primary complaint that it was too heavy. I sure would love to find a new one though!

It had better go for WAY more than that!

If your bid went to $14.50 it means the second highest bid was $14.00. Had you bid $12.50 you would have been told you were out-bid. Ebay only defaults to the next highest bid over the currnet bid, not what the max you are willing to bid is.

just slow down, you have to confirm your bid after you make it to avoid these problems!

You wouldn't have won with a 12.50 bid. Ebay uses a proxy system meaning that it only makes your bid the lowest amount that will win the auction. This means that the previous 12 bid was not this person's maximum bid. This person's bid was 14 but it only showed 12 at that moment because that is all it took for him to be the highest bidder. That is why it automatically put you in at 14.50

You could have retracted your bid, and then entered the correct amount. Luckly it didn't cost you $1250.

what you can do is pay the extra 2 bucks and remember to be careful next time, or if you really didn't want to pay the 2 bucks, you could fillout a bid retraction form and after its reviewed you might not have to pay the 14.50, but if thats the case you'll have to pay nothing because your bid will be retracted...

i had no time to slow down!!! when i got back on e-bay there was something like 16 seconds left. i casually attempted to make my bid and realized i was not signed in!! by the time i signed in and made my bid i almost instantly was notified that i had won the auction!! So theoretically with the time frame i had to work with if i had not made the mistake of typing 1250 i would not have won the auction !!! AND A LESSON WAS LEARNED!! Regardless i will enjoy my new 20th anniversary gold aviar!!!!!

Also in 2001 there were a total of 40!!! clear2001 CE ROCS made for the 2001 South Eastern Classic Tournament held in Charlotte, NC the weekend after the USDGC. All 40 were sold by weekends end and then they were gone. Out of the 40 aproximately 20 had the clear ghost stamp and the other 20 had a black Zonedriven hotstamp. I was at the tournament and personally know of 5 that have been thrown with 1 of those 5 lost.

There were 40 made. Aproximately 20 with the clear ghost stamp and the other 20 with the black stamp. Out of the 40 I personally know of 5 that have been thrown and used. I of those that was thrown was lost 2 years ago and is gone.

That leaves maybe 35 in mint shape. 1 individual has 3 of them and I could never see him coming off of those. Barry has 1, Kenny has 1, and the rest are spread across the country. 1 here...1 there...I have 2 of which one is on ebay.

As for $200 for a disc. A mint #1 California cash crop Puppy sold a couple of years ago for $300+ and there were alot more of those produced. Last year I sold a mint Hands On Aviar for almost $200. And the regular run of 2001's go for close to $200 now and there were 1500 of those made.

The one on sale now is something that will go on the wall or into a safe deposit box. It's not an auction for everyone. When all is said and done it will go for alot less than it's future value. You might even say it will be a bargin. The bigger the sport becomes and the more people who will get involved will only multiply the value of the "older stuff" later on.

the interesting thing is the number of people that are "watching" the disc. Almost everyone that has viewed it has put it on the watch list. That last hour is gonna be fun. :D
