Besides losing 5 discs in the last month my bag has been about the same since the Teerex came out.
Current Bag:
1x Aviar PnA - put a new one in the bag because I aced the last one.
2x KC Pro Aviar- Main Putters and airbounce approach disc
1x D-buzzz - Beat
1x Z-buzzz 1st run - Flat
1x FLX Buzzz- Hyzer/Flat
3x DX Teebirds - roller to hyzer.. always 1 almost new
1x DX Teerex - FAST and NO skip
2x Star Teerex- one Lighter for distance.. 1 heavy for Headwind/Flex/Utility
That's about it. I'd like to have these discs added/replaced:
- DX BB Aviars- to replace all of my putters
- D Wasp- Hoping I can get more life from it than a D-buzzz
- D-Buzzz- Mine is almost cracked now.

ANDREW TREAT- Right handed backhand...unless otherwise mentioned...
1 Star Destroyer 175-max distance, long straight distance
2 Pro Destroyer 175's- One more stable (newer) one less stable (older) For a plethora of throws...Distance rollers, long sidearm shots (300' for me)
1 CE FX 174- A slower disc for more accuracy on hyzers and sidearms alike...confidence disc...
2 Star TeeRexs 175- One beat, one new, for long hyzer shots that need more predictable turn ... HA!
1 Pro Wraith 175- Used to be max distance, now overshadowed by destroyer...needs to be removed...
1 Champion Firebird 175- For hyzer shots that I would want to throw the CE FX on, but there is risk of disc loss...
1 Champion Roadrunner 175- For sidearm rollers quick hyzer flips off the tee...
1 Red 05' Special Blend Roc 180?- For overstable tee and midrange shtos...
1 DX Kite 175- Threw amazingly well for some time, now it has lost its identity in my mind...I don't really feel where that disc is coming from you know?
1 Star Cro 171- for long and straight landing....not necessarily flight...
1 10x Kc Pro Aviar 173- Main putter...feeling a touch stiff when I play on cold mornings...I have been having more cutt-throughts probably going to incorporate this 91' Chains stamp or and Aviar-X (I like a 4x) soon as a cold weather alternative.
1 10x Kc Pro Aviar 175- The one I use when I don't feel confident in the other one....
1 12x Kc Pro Aviar 175- The aviar I will throw as an approach /drive when there is a chance to hit a tree...to preserve the 10x's...
Thats all that needs to be in there anyway...
I am thinking of bringing back the Super Gummy Champ Monster 175 for hyzer skips and cold weather use....

sweet, this is always fun.
Current bag:
175 Star Orc (go-to distance driver)
175 Pro Orc (less stable distance driver, great for wet days)
175 Millennium Orion LS (control + distance, turnovers, some rollers)
172 Sirius Orion LS (go-to roller)
175 Fly-dye Teebird (short accurate drives, fairly overstable)
170 Star Firebird (skips, forehands, overhands)
3x 175 Flat Top Rocs (full spectrum)
175 '06 Champ Glow Roc - overstable mid
175 Champ Whippet-x - REALLY overstable mid, forehands, skips
175 Star Aviar Driver - go-to approach disc, short drives
175 Star Aviar P&A - touchy/anhyzer/floater approaches
175 11x Aviar - caved-in top, smooth yet grippy plastic...mmmm. Flies nicely into chains.
Cold-n-Rainy additions:
175 CE Teebird - awesome, flat TB mold, almost as long as my Orc but has a much more comfortable feel, which goes a long way in nasty conditions.
175 3x JK Aviar - super floppy / gummy eraser-like plastic...used in place of the 11x in very cold weather only.

I used to throw all rocs but moved away when I lost my 2 year old, perfectly beat KC Roc and didnt have a good replacement one ready. I think I might need to go back to a lineup with 3 DX rocs in different states of wear.

I've been whittling down the number of molds in my bag. With the exception of a couple discs that I'm trying out:
2- Aviar (meditation stamp) - putter
1- Rhyno - approach
3- Buzzz (1 ESP, 1 FLX, 1 Z) - awesome midrange
1- Wasp - overstable midrange
2- Sidewinder - pinpoint fairway driver and roller for 380'+
2- Teebird - main driver for 320' and less
3- Beast - turnover and huge distance driver (350 - 400)
2 Orc - Main driver for straight shots (350 - 400)
I'm putting my TeeRex's back in for headwind drivers and I'm trying out a FLX Surge and Z Crush

For awhile I had a handspindle http://www.mielkesfarm.com/spindles.htm and fiber. I was learning to spin fiber into yarn and then later on proceeded to knit a stocking cap. It was stored in my small blue Gateway bag.

If you want a disc by disc breakdown I would say your best bet is the following...
TeeRex= Blurr
Firebird= Spirit or Blaze (depending on preference)
Beast= Diablo DT (although I would compare it to an SL, and even a Sidewinder once broken in)
TeeBird= Hybrid or FX Sabre
Roc= Element X (new) or beat in Demon
Aviar-X= Wizard
But on the TeeBird issue, you could take an S Blaze and beat it to crap, or take a midweight one like in the mid 160's if you throw 170 weight range. I have been experimenting with a 162 S Blaze and when I throw it with hyzer the disc will flup up, go dead straight and then fade just barely at the end.

There's no real reason to commit to one brand. IMO the Spirit is probably the best disc on the market in its niche (if you like the grip, which I have personal difficulties with), the Diablo is a bomber (but the plastic...), the Illusion proved its potential at the USDGC distance contest (but GG is a mutant and there are a lot more crappy Illusions on the market plastic-wise than good ones, but this seems to be changing)and the Wizard and Warlock are both worth a go (GREAT plastics). Beyond that I think that Discraft and Innova have more versatile and popular discs to fill your other needs. I am fairly non-biased and have thrown every Gateway, Innova, and Discraft mold on the market. Don't limit your game or your fun by trying only one brand of discs!

agreed, although i haven't honestly thrown much gateway.
I wouldn't get locked into one company's discs unless you were sponsored.
I like Innova's Drivers, but Prefer the Buzzz as my midrange. I also like BB Aviars, but they aren't common in DX so i might switch to the Challenger. If i were locked into Innova I'd have to beat up a roc everytime i lost one and i'd be spending extra for tourney stamped DX BB's.
Throw what you like and what works for you.
BTW. Current bag:
2x KC pro aviar, 1x DX aviar
1x D Buzzz, 1x DX Roc, 1x FLX BUZZZ,

Trying to figure out if I want to take out the Diablo's or Inferno's. Both get me the same distance, but both have different feel's which I love. Probably the Inferno's so I can make room for more Assassins!

Yeah - I carry a lot of discs, and it looks like I have multiple of each type of throw, but I assure you, they perform differently and I am very atune to their flights. That and I'm a disc fiend.
Wow - looking at that now I realize what a typical AM I was at the time :DI also didn't have a soft backhand, something that I've been working on a lot in the last year. I still carry at least twenty discs, but things are much more balanced and varied throughout the bag.

DX TeeRex (http://www.innovadiscs.com/discs/teerex.html) - stiff, stable, huge power hyzers

in the ultimate of crappy irony... I was finally going to post on this thread since i'm actually carrying a real bag now (just got my first 'real' bag couple weeks ago @ earlewood (innova competition gray)...
well i go out to my truck to get my bag and post what i've got and its gone... it was stolen and now my list goes from what is in my bag to what I lost... because I had to compile it for our area guys to keep an eye out for I figured i'd still post it here.
-Silver Metal Mini (Cam Yards Sharpshooter 2005)
-New Green Cryztal buzz (white stamp/lettering from somewhere in Michigan?... something mills?)
-Red Cryztal buzzz
-Green Cryztal buzzz
-NEW red z wasp
-NEW yellow z wasp
-2007 ace race orange impact (ace of spades design)
-Orange/red z buzzz
-White Star Max
-Yellow first run Star Destroyer (star stamp design)
-Clear Champ Firebird (dyed by myself w/ 'superchicken' on it)
-NEW orange FLX Surge SS
-NEW yellow Z Surge (bull city stamp)
-NEW orange esp FORCE (yeah... the one that was given to team members)
and of course my actual bag, straps, other minis, towels and other stuff in the bag.
i'll have to figure out what i'm throwing this weekend in the tourney now and hopefully a little down the road I can post another 'whats in the bag' thread w/ actual discs I have.

The frame in my revolution back pack bag is broken and then taped and now about to be replace for the summer.
Should I replace it or go without it?
No it's not about the $15 it's about the comfort.
ferretdance03
Apr 16 2008, 09:38 PM
I would replace it. I have one from BlindCrow. Aluminum cross bars and ends, plus it has bars across the top to help the bag keep its shape. I'll post some pictures when I get home, but I think it's head and shoulders above the plastic frame the bags come with.

Sounds interesting...those Revo rollcages are crap. My first one broke when I put it together. My second one I was super careful with when I put it together. It was cracked after a couple of rounds, and in several pieces after a couple months. I figured it was pointless to try and get another crappy one. I've been using an old Gateway frame, but it is a little too small for my bag.

I added the wooden dowel rod to give me more support for the top section since that's where I carry my putters. Even with the top bars I can fit 15+ discs in the main compartment and have little trouble pulling out the discs on the ends.
http://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL1278/4346256/9166646/313615701.jpg
http://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL1278/4346256/9166646/313615700.jpg
The back and front of the frame look identical with the two cross bars. It came with a center divider that was held in place by the o-rings, but I don't use it. The frame is really light, probably only a couple ounces heavier than the plastic version, and it works very well. It's been in my bag since I got it, about 1.5 yrs and I've had no problems.
BlindCrow (Paul?) can be found on this board. At least that's where I found him. Chase from Iron Lion may know, I believe he has one of his frames.

I would ask Chase from Iron Lion, as I believe he actually knows the dude. Like I said, I tracked him down through this board and emailed him a few times, but haven't had any contact since I got the frame over a year ago.
Sorry I can't be of more help.

Haven't done this in a while
Champ Firebird - thumbers, head wind, some drives
Star Max - sidearm, shots I can't reach with a firebird
CFR Glo Eagle - main hyzer driver
Star Wraith - distance head wind, skip shots
Champ Orc (3) - Stable - hyzer distance - Somewhat beat - straight distance, holes that fall off left at the end - Flippy - Turnover distance, uphill, pure distance
CFR TL - Filler disc for shots in that 330 range that need to go straight 90% of the flight, then hyzer
CE Leopard (3) - medium range short, primary anny driver, technical rollers, corkscrew thumbers
10X Teebird - hyzer flip disc
11X Roc - extreme S shots, head wind, short hyzers
10X Roc (3) - Stable - primary hyzer midrange - very flippy - tail winds, hyzer flips - VERY flippy - medium range rollers, used on holes where most people throw sidearms
ESP Buzzz - longer midrange hyzers - mostly used in woods
X Buzzz - longer midrange straight - mostly used in woods
X Wasp - main straight midrange - longer midrange turnovers in woods
Orig. Ontario Roc - primary anny roc
Champ Shark - head wind, touch S shots
10X Aviar (2) - new - primary stable aviar, head wind - Beat in - technical shots, go about 240 and then hyzer soft
Big Bead Aviar (2) - Primary driving avias - one flips late, one goes straight - primarily used in the woods
11X Aviar - a very technical disc - not much use - pretty much a shot where I release with anny and I need glide
Glo P&A Aviar - hyzer flip aviar
P&A Aviar (2) - both very beat - extreme hyzer flips, short range rollers, almost all approaches, both for putting

(2) 175 Star Orc - one domey, stable - one flat, slightly understable
175 CE Teebird - 3rd run I think...very flat, dead straight
175 Fly-dye Champ Teebird - kinda domey, overstable TB
175 Elite Z Predator - recent addition, liking it a lot more than my old Champ & Star Firebirds
170 Sirius Orion LS - beaten, big turnovers, rollers
175 Champ Eagle-x - pretty much only for thumbers
(4) 175 Flat-top Roc - from beaten to brand new, full spectrum of mid shots
175 Champion Whippet-x - short spikes, forehands, skips
175 Star Aviar P&A - well used, gentle/floaty upshots, anny upshots
175 12x KC Aviar - one of the flat ones, stable, used for most approach shots
175 Black 12x KC Aviar - one of the "real" black ones (not marbled dark grey)...grippy, flat. Go-to putter.
Probably going to audition a Teerex soon for more stable big D. Also might throw the ol' Champ Roc back in there...

If you can park everything then no. My fairway drivers see less and less action every tournament, not realy because of big driving, but because I have enough distance to where I can throw midranges in their place.

I do, but I decided to put off giving it a permanent position in my bag. I don't know man, I can't seem to get the Force to fly consistently for me yet. I was over at Tinicum Park in PA today, and it was all over the place. Granted conditions were very windy, but I'm just not confident with it yet.

We throw the same drivers/mid range.
I'm curious to hear what you find with the TeeRex and Wraith.
I flipped the Wraiths too often and the TeeRex didn't do anything my Pred/Tsunami couldn't.
Also, I have found the SL to give me equal distance to my Orc but with more of a TL/TeeBird flight. It has been a nice addition!

So far I'm liking the TRX...definitely much longer than my Tsunami into a headwind. I still favor the Orc in calm conditions; even though the TRX is faster, I find I can control the Orc much better. I'm sure that if I stick with the TRX for a while I'll be able to control it too AND get some more distance. Right now I'm struggling to get the Orc to 400', but I can do it occasionally...I figure once I get to the point where I'm throwing the Orc 400' consistently, the TRX will really reach its potential for me.

20 minutes left at work...nothing to do.
Bag in Transition (trying new distance drivers):
We throw the same drivers/mid range.
I'm curious to hear what you find with the TeeRex and Wraith.
I flipped the Wraiths too often and the TeeRex didn't do anything my Pred/Tsunami couldn't.
Also, I have found the SL to give me equal distance to my Orc but with more of a TL/TeeBird flight. It has been a nice addition!

The TRX will probably not go as far as your Orc. While it is fast out of the hand, the TRX loses its speed much faster than the Orc. Halfway down the fairway your Orc is moving the same speed as it left your hand at where the TRX is already starting to lose speed and get into the hyzer dive.

I've also been looking for an extremely understable midrange to replace a D-wasp that I have beat to crap over the years, I want to find something that is that stiff and that understable when it's brand new, closest thing so far I've found is the Stratus, but it's plastic isn't very stiff. I have probably thrown every single disc made in the last couple years, but nothing comes to mind. I just want something I can buy and have it fly like I want out of the box, no beating necessary.
I recently rediscovered the dx cobra.

Just switched to the D Challengers last week, they've already shaved a few strokes from my game after three years with Aviar P&As... I always kind of wanted to jump to more stable putters but the D Challengers are the first ones with the kind of grip I want. Perfect blend of chalkiness and grip along with stiffness.

Completely agree! I can't believe that they told us it was a putt & approach at the A3 1 Disc Challenge... that thing is a fantastic short driver/up disc. Way better than a Gator because it not only resists turn and headwinds, but it has some glide!

You don't always want a ton of glide... like when throwing into a headwind

Im improving my game by simplifying:
Ch Boss: pure D
Ch XC: Crazy D into wind..trust
Star Wraith: great D, and consistant, even in wind..
Star Teebird: workhorse, everything striaght, hyzer, thumber, sidearm, upshot, fairway, etc...if i can throw it i will.
Z-Pred: overstable, hyzers, windy, thumbers, sidearms.
Monarch: Anny, still learning disc. seems to be working.
KC Roc: striaght mid, hyzer.
Ch CE Roc:(rancho) overstable Roc, very overstable.
Z-Buzz: all lowceiling mid shots that Roc cant do because it requires more air. or if the Teebrid is too long..
Ch Gator: nothing is better into wind for up shot control!!! i can play in a hurricane with this Disc..(i should know im from Southeast Tx)
Dx BB Aviar: awesome putter, strattle loft putt
JK Aviar X: driving putter, side arm approach, windy putter.

dgdave
Nov 08 2008, 10:23 PM
The DD is a more HSS Wraith without the Teerex fade. Its a really nice disc. Its a Discmainia disc.
My Champ XC (1st run Bar stap) is not the most overstable. Its more of a Teebird stability with a bit more fade. The Max is in there for Crazy wind and spike hyzers. I could definately live without it and only throw it once every few rounds, but its nice to have in there.

Buzz or Roc ???
Why?
CryZtal Buzzz - It lacks a bead. This is seriously one of my main reasons for using it. Beads tend to tear at my finger when I throw, ripping open calluses. This is probably a technique error of some kind, but I throw the beadless discs with very good accuracy so I'm not going to quibble.
Additionally: Discraft tends to make things in "families" of discs. In this case it seems to be a family moving down the stability line from Zone > Buzzz > Meteor for me. I don't know if thats the exact set up they have, but it seems to be. So I have 3 discs at a very similar speed and feel in the hand with different stabilities that I can use.

I agree. I throw the same 3 for similar distances, just depends on fade, straight, or anny.

Does anyone have stories of where thinning down to less disc has improved their Game?

I played a tournament this weekend and trimmed down my bag after a very flat first day and I played -10 strokes better the second round.
My flippy Boss got me into trouble--it is too much disc for the course I was playing, I did not have the open space. I also thought I could control it like a Wraith, but in the pressure of the tournament I could not. It is not as consistent. My dependably stable Bosses were great all weekend b/c I knew I could keep them flying flat in the wind with a pretty flat release. I took the flippy Boss out after the first day.
I also took out a midrange, going from 4 to 3. It is easy to do everything you need with 3 stabilities in your midrange and it is hard to have "touch" with more than 3 anyway (for me at least).
I took out my backup/overstable Predator. I found when the wind was howling the extra speed of the champ XC cut the wind better and flew on truer hyzer lines than the overstable Pred, and I have so much more trust in the Pred that has been in my bag for a year.
I took out my E Voodoo. I like this disc in practice, but I realized I did not feel comfortable enough with this disc to have the confidence to pull it out since it is fairly new and different. It will be a windy day disc for me, but that is not a situation that you're are going to chance a new disc with in a tourney.
Less discs, less strokes.

My game has really improved since I thinned down my bag. Having a sparser bag gives me confidence b/c I know all the discs in my bag so well. Plus most people I play with carry 15-18 discs but only throw 5-7 unique discs during a round.
My bag:
Drivers:
E spirit - 175
SOLF - 175 - new
SOLF - 171 - beat
KC Eagle - 175 - new
KC Eagle - 170 - beat
KC Eagle - 172 - thrashed
Mids:
Star Roc - 180
Star Roc - 180 - beat up good
DX Roc - 180 - new
DX Roc - 180 - beat
DX Roc - 180 - thrashed
Putters (all S plastic):
Wizard - 168 - main putter
Wizard - 171 - beat, main approach disc
Wizard - 172
Wizard - 175
Wizard - 174
Really I could take out a star roc and 2 wizards and really not miss them but it is nice to have them in the bag for the once in a while shot.

i personally havnt aced with an eagle bot have 2 aces with solf,s.
i believe the solf is more like a stable orc, very depedable hizer disc with decent hss and a higher than average lss at the end of a 300 foot throw.

I love and trust them for everything....except: low ceiling, tree in the way shot. and yes this happens often. it seems my shot with rocs needs ceiling to get Dist. so i keep a buzzz. Do you guys throw something else for low ceiling or are you making the roc work??

What do you consider a low ceiling? and how far do you need to go with that low ceiling?

The SOLF throw like a longer eagle so they compliment each other perfectly.

When I moved to FL from MI I was wondering about this...It seems everywhere in FL there are oaks covered in moss. We have low ceilings on every course. When I moved I was throwing Rocs, but I had thrown Buzzes in the past. Right away I recognized the need and started throwing the Buzz again. It not only worked for low ceilings, but it worked better than the Roc for most other shots as well. So why throw a Roc at all? I throw my Buzz right at the basket for a 280-300' shot. I watch Roc-master Ken Climo throw the same hole and he uses every inch of ceiling to get the Roc there b/c its dropping the whole way. His shot requires great skill, mine requires much less.

Thinned out the drivers in my bag recently...was carrying 3-4 Orcs for most of my distance shots and a Teerex for headwind distance. Also started to rely more heavily on my Teebirds for shots in the 300'-360' range.
Added the Champ Cobras to the midrange line-up for slow/late turn shots..may remove those as some newer Rocs get broke in. Added the Q Sentinel several months ago as a temporary replacement for my Champ Roc, but fell in love with it so it stuck around. The Whippet only gets used on occasion for mid-short range trick shots. The XD is strictly a low-power touch approach disc.
Stable Distance Drivers:
171 Star Starfire (straight with strong low-speed fade)
175 Star Orc (go-to distance driver...workable on all kinds of lines)
Stable-to-Understable Distance Drivers:
175 SOLS (1st run - more stable of the 2)
172 SOLS (2nd run - very beaten, mainly used for flip-rollers and giant anhyzers)
Fairway Drivers:
175 CE Teebird (broken in...very straight with minimal low-speed fade)
172 DX Teebird (newish...straight with strong low-speed fade)
Overstable Driver:
175 CE Firebird (well-used, but still very overstable)
*170 Star FB (occasionally in the bag as a back-up)
Midranges:
(3) 175 Ching Rocs (go-to mids...one new, one broken-in, one worn)
(2) 178 Champ Ont. Cobras (one new / one well-used...used mainly for shots that require a very slow or late turn)
176 Q Sentinel (overstable mid...faster than the Rocs, and can get a decent skip)
175 Champ Whippet-x (short-range "trick" shots)
Putters:
175 11x KC Aviar (go-to putter)
175 12x Aviar (stiff, marbled-grey - approach disc)
175 12x Aviar (soft, solid black - approach disc)
175 DX XD (soft, touchy approach shots)

man, i cant deside about rocs and buzzz, they are great. i want to eliminate disc selection , as it improves my game. The Roc is accurate, and does not skip past the basket. it is pin point, but i need the ceiling. which i have about 80% of the time. however, the buzzz is great to, a little faster than the roc, which can mean skipping long, hence longer come back putts. and sometimes it hyzer skips at the end, also longer putts...but it fits great in my hand because i know and love teebrids so well, the buzz feels and flies like a mid range teebrid....great straight, great hyzer, great low ceiling......ughhh i cant decide, i would rather one or the other not both... i plan on feild throwing to see if i can see any pros / conns
mikeP
Nov 11 2008, 09:58 AM
If you compare the Buzz and Roc as approach discs, the Roc is a clear winner. Slowness and the bead (anchor) keep you close. I don't approach with my Buzz too often, and when I do it is usually because the ceiling is low and I want the skip. BTW, my Buzzes always skip forward, but I use my broken in one for approaches. For me the Buzz is almost a fairway driver, best used for 280'-350'. For the most part I like using putters for approaching under 280', and they are even slower and more accurate than the Roc.
I decided to go back to my ESP Banger-GT as my stable putter driver over the EVO Voodoo. I like the feel of the Voodoo, but it is ungodly stable. I can't get a flat ride and fade with it. I have to turn it over and it gets NO glide off a hyzer release. Maybe it needs to whack a few trees. Anyway, the Banger is an overlooked driver and flies farther than any other stable putter.

Why don't you just throw a teebird when you don't have the ceiling for a roc? Also if anything feels like a midrange teebird it is the roc. They have the same flight path.
I do agree with the Banger-GT being an under rated driving putter. I used to throw them until I found wizards and only switched b/c the wizard felt better in my hand.
John Keith
Nov 11 2008, 05:38 PM
yeh i know i watch Eric Mcabe chunk the Banger GT all over the place. o do use the teebrid for low ceiling when roc is bad... but i just lost my money Teebird (Star Beat in) which would fly how ever i wanted. so i have a brand new star Teebird that finishes way to left for the Roc low ceiling shot.. but thats ok im sure in 6 months or so it will beat back in....for now im still throwing rocs with one buzz in my bag

Have you thrown a Pig yet? If so, how would you compare the stability compared to a Voodoo? I can't imagine any putter being more overstable than a Pig.
How about a Zone for a flat flight then predictable fade? Probably too fast for what you are looking for. For me, it is kind of a tweener between a putter and mid, but probably closer to a mid. Flat flight and hard fade is what it does though.

I have not thrown the Pig yet. I like the feel. I guess it has not interested me enough in the pro plastic. I don't want my overstable putter to break in much. When it comes out in Star or Champ I may pick one up. The problem with my Evo Voodoo is that it does not seem to have enough float in that plastic (my Organic S ones float for days). This makes the disc nose angle senstive. A little hyzer and it does not stand up, a little anny and it just turns.
The quality that I appreciate most about putters is their forgiveness in terms of height control. If you throw a putter a little high, it may just go a little farther than you wanted. If you throw it a little low its going to come up a bit short. Either way, you are not going to go left or right much. With my beat Warlock I simply aim above the basket with slight hyzer and the disc flattens out and drops right on the basket from 200-300'. This is my approach shot/drive when ceiling and wind conditions allow. The reason I explain this is because when I look for putters to throw that is the characteristic I want. Any disc without "float" or with hard turning tendencies is not going to do the job on the high drop shots. For a stable putter-driver I am looking for a disc that will hold its angle of release on a muted line and have a little fade at the end of the flight. The ESP Banger-GT really is the disc for this shot.
Luckymutha
Nov 12 2008, 01:50 PM
I agree with the plastic concern. I will probably get a more durable plastic when it comes out, but my beat Pro Pig is still more overstable than any other putter that I've thrown. If anyone knows of a more overstable putter, I would like to try it out.
Thanks for all the non-biased disc reviews discspeed! You should get your own thread ;)

Discspeed, I agree wholeheartedly with your putter for approach thoughts. For upshots, say less than 225', I carry 4 particular discs. I suppose there are basically two of each. Two Pro Rhynos, one the most stable I have thrown, one the least. The other two are a X Soft Challenger, and an Omega SS. I can't putt with the SS, but it is far and away the smoothest upshot disc I have ever thrown. The Challenger is more stable, and even though it is soft, doesn't change appreciably with wear. You might try either, though the Challenger sounds more suited to your description. I find the Banger to be very controllable, but slow, and easy to flip if I get too much of it. KP

What would you have in your bag if there was a 14 disc limit like the limit in golf? I think there used to be a thread like this but I can't find it and I'm bored at work.

Probably...
1) Star Starfire (overstable D)
2-3) 2x Pearly Champ Orcs (go-to drivers...one newish, one used-ish)
4) 1.1 Sirius Orion LS (kinda beat for turnovers / rollers)
5) CE Teebird (2nd run I think...nice and flat, dead straight fairway driver)
6) 11x Champ Teebird (nice and slightly-overstable fly-dyed Bird)
7) Champ Firebird (you know)
8) Q Sentinel (flat-top Sanny mold)
9-12) DX Ching Rocs (various stages from new to beaten)
13) Medium Wizard (fairly new, go-to putter)
14) Soft Wizard (well-used...approach putter)
That's pretty much my usual set-up, but I sometimes carry a few "situational" discs: DX XD for touchy approaches, Champ Whippet-x for some trick shots, and Champ Ontario Cobra for long/slow turnovers. I also have a bad habit of carrying extras of certain discs (*cough-PearlyOrc-cough*), even though I never actually pull them out :D
Think I'll try this thinned-out bag for a tournament this Saturday and see how it goes...

there are lots of threads asking about 2-4 discs. I just wanted to get an idea in case there ever was a limit set on discs, and the limit set in golf seemed like a good starting point, i dont think there should be a limit. lets not start that discussion it has been done alot on here.
