This is working very well right now! I swapped my Wizards for Challengers. They have the exact same flight when putting, but because of the Challengers lower profile, it works much better for me when driving. The shape Wizard just does not allow my fingers to work. I've tried everything, and it's just the way the wizard hits my fingers. The Challenger is a perfect fit.

I do have a big gap between the stingray and the beast/Flash and nothing super overstable in the bag, I find that the stingray is my go to disc in many situations.
The beast/flash/orc overlap a lot.
I am considering checking out the flick and or monster on the over stable end.
Another new discs I would like to check out would be the Illusion.
The leopard in SE and or Champion plastic might find it's way back to my bag between the Stingray and the Beast/Flash.
The valks work well too but currently the beast is taking their shots.

Most of my discs are white which makes winter play a little tough. Plus I've got ice fishing and snowboarding to keep me busy.
Not a big hockey fan, but greedy team owners make me want to puke. At least the Wild are way better than the Stars. Not crazy about the name though. Back to the thread...........Go Vikes!..................

He he that was really funny for me! Actually, I have 2 bags...a Gateway bag and a Discraft bag, and sometimes an Innova bag! I can't throw a mix of discs, so I just play with different setups. Once I really know what I like the best, I will settle down.
Oh and by the way, my current bag is as follows....
175 S WizHARD
172 E WizHARD
174 S WizHARD
146 CE Banshee (that's real CE)
:D:confused: :cool::mad:/msgboard/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

174 dx valkyrie - not used much, heavy headwind drives mainly
150 dx valkyrie - tailwind drives, turnover drives
150 c valkyrie - tailwind/turnover drives where i may hit something
166 c valkyrie - most drives, easy for me to control, nicely worn in
175 z xpress - just got this, not used a lot yet, but SUPER easy to turn over, nice distance as well
170 dx fat tire flyer roc - anything between 200 and 300ft, alternate for the shark
166 c shark - anything under 275ft, alternate for the roc
174 magnet - not really used much, spare for new players
170 z putt'r - danger approach shots, ie. i'm going to hit something, roll away must be avoided, coming out of bushes... :D
175 86 softie - layup shots from close range, mostly catch to warm up
170med, 169med, 3 170soft wizards - anything and everything under 250 ft., putts and approaches. these are by far my most used discs, in various stages of life... :)
as of right now i also have:
150 dx shark - back up
160 dx valkyrie - back up
165s/171s element prototype - couldn't resist trying out this new disc, the approved versions may replace my shark(s) and roc
as well as towels, pens/markers, scorecards, rule book, minis, birdie bag, elbow brace, advil, and a water bottle....
My Bag....again......
175 S Wizard (Orange Med)
175 S Wizard (White Hard)
172 E Wizard (Orange Med)
175 S Element (Dayglo)
167 H Element (Yellow)
175 E Element (Gray)
167 S Illusion (White)
168 S Illusion (White)
169 S Illusion (White)
177 H Speed Demon (Purple)
Since I've put the Element in my bag, my game from about 325' and in is completely secure. I'll never change. The Element and Wizard are the perfect combination.
I just got the Illusions so I'm breaking them in. They fly really nice, even out of the box. These things are so fast and durrable. I love the mold.
The Speed Demon....WHAT A PIG! I only use it for a short, low ceiling 90 degree corner on one of the holes at my local course. We redesigned the hole, and now the Speed Demon seems to be the only disc that can turn that hard!
Anyways, that's my bag, and probably will be for a long time to come!
My Bag....again......
Graham, when everyone on here knows that your bag (or discs not in a bad as it once was) changes more than Britney Spears during a concert, it is realy hard for us, well me, to believe that you will stay with anything for a long time. I must admit I like the fact that its all Gateway. But after all of your flip flopping and multiple multiple bag setups could anyone possibly believe...
Anyways, that's my bag, and probably will be for a long time to come!
(Meant totally in jest.)

(from Slayerbill, Oct 2)
172g pearlescent pink CE Gazelle (stepping stone, or 'tweener, driver)
Does anyone know where to find some CE Gazelles?!? I know these were used as CFR's a couple of years ago, but all I ever saw of those were incredibly light discs (160 or below). It seems to me that the Gazelle is a good disc that needs to be "Championized." I had a Proline mold, and it was the perfect disc; dead-straight 280-320 foot drives with a tiny hyzer on the end. I lost that one and all the others I've found didn't throw the same. If anyone knows where to get a heavy CE Gazelle, please let me know!

Interesting...I always keep 13 discs in my bag also -so here goes
1 ORC - Distance Driver
1 Valk - Distance Driver (anhyzers)
1 Comet - biggest anhyzer disc they make - will not turn back out
2-3 Teebirds at any time
1 CE ROC - longer upshots and shorter drives
1 Firebird or Whippet - sharp hyzers
1 Wildcat - Straight *zz disc
1 anything beat up for rollers and thumbers
2 Aviars - 1 used for 5+ years..the next one being broken in
1 Omega 1.1 Putter - for those days w/o much wind
I switch those combos around somewhat frequently as discs are lost, or become too beat up, but mostly those are what I throw with.

Also going to add a heavier Zflick for S curve type shots, and another challenger(so I don't have to mark my disc to putt if I use my putter as an upshot.

Try putting some Pro D Challengers i your bag. D plastic is better for putting then Z Challengers. They stick better on off center putts and they beat up so you can have a straight one and a turnover one all with the same mold. Then keep the Z for hyzers. Just a suggestion. I have found that when i look in the bags of pros they have about 4 drivers and anywhere from 4-6 Mids and 3-4 Putters. All in different stages of beatness and one Putter just for PUTTING so you dont have to mess it up hitting trees. I have three main basic molds in my bag. Preds (Tsunamis are included in this) Wasps ( BUZZZ ) and Challengers. Flicks are for trick shots mostly.
I have a 4 Diff pre molds. All have different flight paths. Ranging from HARD HYZER to flip shots and Rollers. I have 4 Wasp Molds. From Hard Hyzer to flip shots. 4 Challengers again Hard Hyzer to flip shots. Then one Cam Todd just for putting. This has helped my game ALOT. Sorry about the thread drift i just got that in my head and figured it might help someone

2 174 tsunamis-wind, fades, tommys/thumbs
i throw the same discs for forehand shots as backhands, though my forehands do not go near as long. tsunami for forehand rollers, pro tl for backhand rolls

Yeah. THe reason why I have so many different drivers is because I don't want to think about throwing different to make a disc do a different thing.
For example. I know i an get my JK Valks to go to the right, I don't want to force my CE TL(for example) to do the same flight path.
If you also see the amount of time it takes for me to get ready, you will know that I don't want to do a lot of thinking before I throw. That is probably my downfall, but once I decide on a disc I don't want to change my mind, screw up and say to myself(I should have thrown my original shot).
The next thing that will come out of my bag will be the Starfire because I can get the Tbird to do the same flight path if needed.

I throw all the same molds and they just all do different things when i throw them. I dont have to force them they just fly different. You just buy lighter ones or beat up the ones you have. It was just a suggestion. It happend to work for me.
Like you could throw a CE T then a CE TL then a Beat up Pro Line TL then a REALLY BEAT proline TL and get 4 drasticly different flight patters. Hyzer Then Straight Then Turnover then Flippy or ROLLER. I think its just makes you more consistent because you are always throwing the same disc just for different types of shots. :D

That is what I am doing with my rocs.
And I love my cryztal Z challengers. The only time they haven't worked for me is when I was under a ton of stress, and I would missed those putts even if I had a trashcan lid.

"Yeah. THe reason why I have so many different drivers is because I don't want to think about throwing different to make a disc do a different thing."
I get asked about that all the time by local three disc charlies. They say you only need three discs, which is very true. But agree with the cheat. I just want to make the same throw over and over again and not think about what I need to do with the disc. I know what each one does and pull out different discs for differnet turns and distances. It is just like ball golf. You can do it with just three clubs but it is alot of work.

You guys have too many discs in the bag, that tends to create indecision.
2 174 champion putters - (Always take two of your fav putter)
176 glo san marino roc - trusty slow midrange disc
171 2001 CE roc - reliable mid range, a tad faster, travels better low than the san marino + a tad more distance.
166 champion stingray - good for what ails you - superb straight disc thrown with a touch of hyzer not quite as long as most drivers but easy to throw, turnovers, rollers, THE utility disc.
166 Z Flash my current go to driver, goes nearly dead straight a long ways, just a little movement right and left.
166 champ orc, not using it too much just now, but a great line drive disc when thrown low with a bit of come back at the end (more than the flash)
150 Z-Flick easy side arm disc for someone with not a great side arm + thrown backhand easy to keep straight with a left kick/skip at the end, sometimes use it up hill, the 150 weight makes it easy on the arm, almost effortless, but not quite as much D as the Flash or Orc.
165 Z-Flick This baby goes hard left.
Used to carry a rule book, (still a good idea I plan to replace mine it got soaked)
Golf Ball (I do play Senerca and Rockburn)
Sharpies, score cards, phone, towels, 10 foot tape measure, minis, cups, water, usually a beer.

1-175 APX Swirl (putts inside 50 feet, will turn when I need it to)
1-174 Elite X Soft Challenger (inside 200 straight in and turns)
1-175 Elite X Buzzz (straight and predictable light turns inside 250)
1-171 Z-Wasp (hard straight shots and predictable moderate turns inside 250, tree top approaches)
1-172 Elite X Xpress (hyzer/flat 250-300, big right turns, doesn't roll yet)
1-172 Elite X spiral-dye Stratus (hyzer straight and right turns, rollers)
1-172 T-Bird L (it's a T-bird, what can I say ... nothing else flies/feels like it. Straight, long, predicable BH, FH)
1-172 Elite X XL (straight backhand and forehand driver 250-300+, dependable backup and mulligan driver)
1-168 Z Flash (driver 300+, tomahawk, thumber, tree trimmer) broken in, flies pretty straight -- a fantastic disc
1-172 Z Flash (driver 300+) new
1-150/172 Z Flick, still learning this disk. New, it's really overstable so it's great for moderate to long turns. Can't tell if it's going to change a lot yet.
Like Sharky said, it's a great uphill disc, light and fast and can do some tricky turns.
This is the line-up for the course I play regularly, CMC Glenwood Springs CO (alt. approx. 7500-feet). There are a lot of trees and sagebrush. No lawn grass on the course. This course forces you to contend with rocks, altitude, rough terrain, and occasional rough weather conditions. It's brutal on disks.
The color of disks should be considered. Bright colors are recommended or you may loose discs in the trees, or the sagebrush. White discs are not when there are snow patches on the ground this make it nearly impossible to find your disk if you loose sight of it. Dull Fly-dyes and old Innova discs practically disappear in the sagebrush and rocks. There are not a lot of roller opportunities on the course -- sagebrush stops discs!
Other items in my bag: Full 32 oz. Nalgene water bottle! Medical tape, moleskin, band-aids, ibuprophen, antacid, lighter, pocket-knife (It's not a walk in the park -- it's in the mountains. Rattlesnakes have been met!), Apple Skoal, a towel (or two when its snowing), Pepper spray for bears and mountain lions (just kidding, but I know they are out there -- might be a good idea to carry some), Petzl headlamp, light jacket or pullover.

How do you play with no drivers?
I'm guessing that DiscGraham plays at Cornwall Park in Bellingham, WA. A driver is not usually neccesary because the holes are very short.

I have a local friend who used to be sponsored by Gateway, also used to be sponsored by Discraft most recently. He said that he quit Team Gateway because they would not make an understable midrange, and they would not give him a team shirt to wear. He quit Discraft because they wanted him to play more tournaments.
I would recommend playing a few rounds with just your putters. Another local and I had a challenge, he played with only Rocs, and I only Aviars. He beat me obviously on the drives. I could only get a 300ft roll out of my Proline Avair, but I was beating him on putting. He shot a 53 while I shot a 55 on a long par 54 course. But it definately helped my game, next I will try a round with all midranges.

gtsm indsm!!
i think i have my setup for 2005
firebirds, beasts, valks, glo leopards, sm shark, sm roc, glo rocs, q sentinal, and kc aviars in a wall city bag.
well i guess i will start with the drivers and work my way down...
1-175 Champ Orc: Big open drives. 450'+
1-169 Champ Viking: Hyzers that flip flat or Anhyzers that turn corners. Also good uphill. 450'+
1-171 Champ Firebird: Forehand shots, thumbers, & long hyzers. 350'-
1-171 CE Eagle: Thumbers, straight drives with hyzer finnish, & hyzer drives. 400'-
1-169 Champ Eagle: Hyzer drives that will flatten out but still finnish to the left. 425'-
1-174 Champ TeeBird: Straight shots or long smooth anhyzers. 450'-
1-172 Pro Line Leopard: Rollers and Anhyzers that wont come back. 500'+ (rollers) 400'- (anhyzers)
1-175 CE Spider: Hyzer or Flat shots for those tighter holes. 350'-
1-180 10x Roc: Hyzers that flip over & anhyzers that wont come back. 350'
1-180 11x Roc: Hyzers that flatten out and stay straight & 7 o' clock hyzers that hold and glide left. 350'
1-176 Dx Cobra: Mid range rollers (big backhanders and little flick rollers). 350'-
2-175 10x Aviar: Short Range Drivers and Putts when I am just not feeling the Glo Aviar. 300'-
1-150 Aviar P&A: Tunnel Putts that hold a line. 40'-
1-174 Glo Aviar Putter: Most of my putts. 60'-
theres also the other junk in my bag (innova deluxe bag w/ Phenix straps) such as: tape, minis, sharpies, pencils, Ibuprofen, band aids, water bottle, and my handy dandy shot of epinephrine for when i get stung by those *$^ #@%) yellow jackets. i think that just about does it.

I'm fairly new and my bag fluctuates a lot but it seems to be settling in a little more. I have some redundancy in there so I can compare discs on a shot-by-shot basis. Plus, I'm not a big tournament player so I'm not overly concerned with putting together an incredibly stable bag. Trying and using new discs is fun.

1 172g DX Teebird (worn in) - Straight drives.

That is a lot of different discs...
If you ever get a chance to do this, pick up some light S Illusions. When you beat them in a little, they will replace your vikings and with a little more spin they will be your turnover driver.
Your S-element will become very understable the more you use it and might become a roller. You might want to stick with the E-element as it will take longer to beat it in.

Actually, I already replaced my Illusion with the Viking. The Viking feels much better in my hand and I prefer its flightpath to tha of the Illusion.
I know I have a lot of discs in there, but I tend to play by myself at times when the courses are empty so I'll throw a couple of different discs for any given shot. I sort of have the "how will I know what I like if I don't try them all?" mentality. Then when I'm playing with others or at a tournament I end up only using 4 or 5 different discs.
Also, remember that my bag isn't set up to minimize my scores, yet. It's set up to maximize my fun. I can also write it differently to make it look smaller:
Speed Demon/Spirit - headwind and hyzer
Viking - long drives
Teebird/TL - control driver
Blaze - headwind control/hyzers
Element/Element-X - midrange
Wizard - short drives
Putt'r - in the circle.
That is a lot of different discs...
If you ever get a chance to do this, pick up some light S Illusions. When you beat them in a little, they will replace your vikings and with a little more spin they will be your turnover driver.
Not a slam on Gateway here, but this is something I have always wondered about the people who throw them exclusively.
Why would you want to beat an overstable disc into submission just to have a turnover disc? One thing I prefer with the other two manufacturers, is that they design understable discs to turn right out of the box, and of course if you buy the high end plastic, it will last a long time before it turns into a roller.
Can anyone who throws exclusively Gateway explain this to me?

You don't have to beat one into submission. I have a S Illusion that I have only been throwing for 2 weeks that is starting to become a turnover driver.
I have a Sabre that could be a turnover driver for me but I just don't like the feel of the dome.
Now I admit you have to beat the SD all to hell in order for it to be a turnover driver.
I actually forgot to list my one non-gateway disc in my bag: JK Valk. This is my turnover driver until my S-Illusion is used enough.

MR Bungle..
I'm not a player to play only one company's discs, but that's an awesome bag... Seems like you have a good technique to be able to throw all x and still have decent stability.. most people have wicked overstable stuff because they seem to lack somewhere..
IF they had longer throwing putters.. I'd only have putters in my bag :)....
My bag as of Right now:
Putters:
1x Omega AP (174 beat for anny drives and anny Ups)
1x Classic Aviar (175 Flat with gentle/flat anny)
1x Dx Aviar P&A (175 Putter and Flat upshots)
1x Crystal Z Challenger (174 Overstable driver and Hyzer Aproaches)
1x Wizard Firm 174 (Testing.. seems like a nice little flat/anny driver)
Midranges:
1x DX ROC (179.. beat for turnovers)
1x Z-buzzz First RUN (178... Full spectrum.. mostly flat/hyzer)
1x 2005 ROC X-out (179.... Stable Pig..)
Drivers:
1x DX Gazelle (171. pulled out of somewhere.. Beat for GENTLY thrown hyzer flips and Testing for rollers)
1x Z-flash First run (169.. Hyzer Flip and Roller.. Testing)
1x Champion Teebird (172.. Flat/turn/Distance in wind)
2x Teebird 11x OLD proline stamp (175.. Both stable.. one moreso...)
1x Proline Monster (175.. Testing out.. old and beat for late turnovers and rollers)
1x First Run Spirit (stable and nice Skip.. Ridiculous skip like the Speed demon..)
Only reason i have the spirit is because i'm out of firebirds and stable monsters...
Also adding a 174 Z-flash to my bag..

Greatzky - thanks man. I have a very consistent throw. Though the X Wildcat and X Buzz are a little understable for me, I'm correcting from a few years of trying to fill my bag with meathooks (super stable discs). I used to throw all Innova, but I had WAY too many choices of discs in my bag. I decided the best thing to do when simplifying was to just go all the way (switch brands). Now I just focus on execution, and it has really been paying off for me. I do occasionally flip stuff over a bit with this bag, but it's WAY better than watching everything hyzer out too early. Plus, starting the Wildcat off with a bit of hyzer, I have added 30+ feet to my drives working that flip and fade. I'm not a crusher by any means, but 350 is better than 320.
Hey, have you thrown an X Challenger, and if so how does the stability of it compare to the Crystal Z Challenger? I was going for all the same feel, but I sure like the looks of those crystal Challengers. Pretty plastic, and probably alot more durable.
I throw
1 FireBird FX - Headwind and Hyzer
4-5 TeeBirds - Distance and control
3 Sentinel MF 1.2 - Midrange
4-5 Aviar - Shortrange

Yes, it's probably too many discs and no, I don't care. ;)
Actually, I just got a bunch of new discs so I have them in there to check them out. I value having fun over being compeditive at the moment and I find trying out new discs to be fun. The ones with '*'s by them are new and I haven't thrown them yet.
*1 176g White E Speed Demon
*1 174g Glow E Spirit
*1 172g White H Illusion
1 170g Blue Pro Starfire
1 172g Red Champ Viking ("Zipper" maybe?)
1 175g Blue DX Viking
1 175g Opaque Yellow QJLS
1 175g White Pro Teebird-L
1 176g White, sort of transluscent E Sabre
1 174g Blue, almost clear E Sabre
1 172g Yellow S Blaze
*1 174g Orange H Element-X
1 176g Yellow S Element-X
1 182g White E Element
*1 178g Green H Element
1 175g White E Wizard
1 175g Blue S Med. Wizard
1 174g Blue H Wizard
1 175g White SS Wizard
There's a bunch of overlap at the moment, especally in the drivers. The Sabres, QJLS and TL all sort of fill the same spot. I'm still messing with all of them to see which I really like the best.
The Wizards, Element, Element-X and Blaze combo is pretty set as far as which molds I'm using. I haven't decided on plastics yet. It would be nice to use all S Element-X's but the one I have just isn't wearing out very fast so I don't know what it will really be like worn in. Plus, the E Element is just so nice. I don't know what the Hs are like, yet, though. The H Element will have to be pretty cool to stop me from eventually just having two E Elements in there (one for backup).
I'm also unsure of how the Starfire and Vikings fit in together. The Champ Viking is nice for when I want some distance and fade in the woods. The DX is nice for controlled distance and the Starfire seems to just be there for pure distance. However, I do seem to have quite a bit of control with the Starfire. It seems like with all of these incremental improvements with the discs I'm ending up with something between my fairway drivers and longest drivers. Perhaps that's where the Viking fits in. It also seems to work well for low ceiling shots at fairway driver type distances, too. Who knows, I like to throw them both so they're both in there. ;)
The Spirit, Illusion and Speed Demon are all new so I'm not really sure how they'll fit in. If the E Spirit is straighter than the S then it will probably stay for low ceiling and headwind shots. I've heard rumors of not-insanely-overstable Speed Demons so we'll see what happens with the one I got. I'm guessing it will be very overstable and probably not very useful for me yet.

3 <font color="Blue">Teebirds</font> (http://www.innovadiscs.com/discs/teebird.html) (11x) (all at different stages 1 new, 1 beat, 1 vary beat in.) I find it helpfull to have my main drivers in this stages for two reasons One I know the disc and two it saves money.
2 <font color="Blue">Leopards</font> (http://www.innovadiscs.com/discs/leopard.html) (new Champ) in stages (I find that the leopards are like beat teebirds with out the work so they fit right in.)
2 <font color="Blue">Monsters</font> (http://www.innovadiscs.com/discs/championMonster.html) ( this is my get out of sh<font color="black">it </font> disc, they are great for head winds and any type of forehand or tomahawk shot, they're also great for skip shots.)
3 <font color="Blue">Bottom stamped ROC's</font> (http://www.innovadiscs.com/discs/roc.html) (in the same stages as my Teebirds with one change the really beat up one is also lighter weight)
1 <font color="Blue">(old CE) spider</font> (http://www.innovadiscs.com/discs/championSpider.html) for over-stable short range shots (I know that this disc, is going to finish left)
2 <font color="Blue">Starfires</font> (http://www.innovadiscs.com/discs/championStarfire.html) 1 beat and 1 new (this are my consistent distance drivers, since they act like long range teebirds)
1 <font color="Blue">beat Z Wildcat</font> (http://www.discndatonline.com/item.cfm?itemid=7789) (for backhand rollers)
2 <font color="Blue">DX aviars</font> (http://www.innovadiscs.com/discs/aviarpna.html) (in stages) (this disc are used for up shots and short drives)
2 <font color="Blue">Identical APX swirls</font> (http://www.discndatonline.com/item.cfm?itemid=7864) ( these disc's have to be the best strait line putters out) (these disc's are only used for putting since they have a tendency to chunk if they hit any thing, and I believe that a putter should be a putter and only a putter)
Experimental disc (any DX or new disc that sound good)
2 <font color="Blue">DX beasts</font> (http://www.innovadiscs.com/discs/beast.html) (pure distance and rollers) (they just beat up to fast)
1 <font color="Blue">Tsunami</font> (http://www.discndatonline.com/item.cfm?itemid=32012) (this disc has got to be one of the best disc out at this time) (it has the flight characteristics of a teebird with a harder and flatter finish to the left) (more over stable)
1 new <font color="Blue"> Bottom stamped ROC </font> (http://www.innovadiscs.com/discs/roc.html) that has not made it to my main disc yet.
So what's in your bag?

Supposed to be straight out of the box
Want one badly...
Light weights are pretty straight, but heavy ones are still overstable. Difference is the overstability is more practical...I can get the new ones to about 300' before they hyzer whereas the old ones hyzered on me not more than 200' off the tee. They are just a bit longer now. And they are MONEY in the wind....dead straight in a moderate headwind.

Congratulations on your first post and welcome to the PDGA discussion board.
I just wanted to say to make sure that learning with all champion plastic doesn't Teach you to throw the wrong way. It's best to learn with DX plastic.. It truly is and learning to use it for a while too. I started with some beat up cyclones, but quickly moved to champion/z plastic. I wish i stayed with old beat up stuff becuase after 2 years i'm starting to relearn my throw to be able to throw less stable stuff..
Good luck and any help feel free to message me.
-Scott LEwis
and if you don't want to go out and buy a bunch of dx plastic, i would recommend learning to play with ONLY the leopard, aviar and cobra. then you can start incorporating other discs once you have these mastered. but the most important thing, by far, is learning how to putt!! do that now and save yourself hours upon hours of agony later. :o

I am going to show you what I normally played last year and thus far this year. I am planning on buying a lot and doing a lot of experimenting coming up, so this will change. Updates to come.
TeeBirds- I have tried a lot of different families of drivers, and I have found these types of drivers to be the most forgiving and consistant. The new, faster drivers are better on the really long holes, but most holes are TeeBird or Midrange drivable, so I favor it.
Rocs- I carry a lighter one that flips and glides a lot, a worn out one, and a stabler KC. This is my most used disc, aside from putters. I use them for the midrange-drivable holes and any really high-risk tight fairway.
Soft Mangets- I used to be a big bead Aviar person, but I really like 2 things about these magnets. Firstly, they are really grippy and everything of reasonable length but not in the 100% range is spitting out less. Secondly, the softness and grip allows for a lot of torque and the longer putts seem more effortless. The one problem with them is that they are uncomfortable in the 200', so I am thinking about adding a D magnet. I am not a huge wizard fan.
Leopard, etc- I like to have a disc that flies perfect when you throw it lighter, so that the more tedious driver holes can be tackled.
New Generation Driver (I've used Beast, Crush, etc)- For the holes where power and speed are the best attributes to have. North Valley has a ton of these.

Wow you really slimmed down...25 to 22 discs
Throwing fewer molds is something that cannot be over-emphasized. If you know one throw/disc, it is a lot tougher to adjust to an unusual condition and when newer discs come out, it is tougher to learn. Make sure you have enough variety to hyzer, anhyzer, and throw straight and low at the key distances, as well as play during the wind. From there, get everything perfected and then add/replace your plastic if you notice a problem area, a newer/better disc, or a situation your arsenal cannot properly address... being sure that you allow lots of field time before the adjustments come into effect.

Wow someone who understands that disc golf is about having a shot for every situation, not a disc for every situation...Empty your bags you packrats /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
Exactly. I am a leftie and I was forced to learn a long-distance anhyzer right from the get go. That made me work on perfecting release angles and nose angles. Most good players can pick up a disc, throw it, see where it lands, and know exaclty what adjustments need to be made to produce every possible good throw out of it. If you aren't this aquainted to the physics of a disc, I suggest throwing rounds with like 1 roc, eagle, and aviar. I am willing to bet that in 3 rounds, your driving and upshots will be much more consistant and versitile. Id start basic and add vs doing it the other way. Dont go from 23 to 20. Go from 23 to 3-4 then to 5,6,7 etc. That will also help you show what discs are useless mass in your bag.

Drivers from under to over (all between 165-170):
QJLS 1st run
Champion Viking
11x Teebird
11x Teebird
CE Eagle
CE Eagle (for overhand shots; 164g)
Pro Firebird (pre Champion plastic)
Pro Firebird (pre Champion plastic; 175g for FH rollers)
Champion WhippetX
Midranges from under to over:
Champion Panther
CE Spider
CE Spider
X-out KC Roc
Putters:
Soft Challenger
UV Soft Challenger
UV Soft Challenger
CryZtal Challenger
The Viking and Whippet are on the way out I think & I've started testing a Pro Starfire. So 17 discs--12 if I cut out the duplicates, although I like having some duplicates because it allows me to throw roller and overhands without quickly beating up their flying counterparts.
The return of Disc Golf's ultimate packrat.
Current bag setup has pretty much stabilized and is currently setup for my home course of La Mirada, CA (long, grassy, hilly, w/enough trees to give trouble but not make it too technical).
All Innova.
Putter pocket:
175g Omega Supersoft red (for all putts inside 60')
175g Omega Supergrip white (for most putts & upshots over 60')
170g '00 Classic Roc white, Ching-stamped, flat-topped, beat to hell (anytime I need finesse within 200' of basket or shorter, late turnovers.) "Whitey"
Bag organized into 5 speed ranges from slowest to fastest then in decreasing stability within each speed range.
180g '04 CE Roc Glow (overstable midrange) "Ken & Barry"
175g '05 Super Roc green, design one stamp, light use (stable midrange)
177g 10x KC Pro Roc white, tuned (does the tuned-Roc-thang) "10x"
174g '02 CFR Classic Roc white (short stable drives or any time I need to "stand & deliver")
175g Champ Whippet "X" clear orange, circle stamp (max overstability needed & sidearm) "The Hubcap"
172g 11x KC Pro (pro/champ mix) Gazelle opaque pink (stable 'tweener drives)
164g 11x KC Pro (pro/champ mix) Gazelle translucent blue (less-stable 'tweener drives)
171g Champ Panther opaque Pink (understable 'tweener stuff) "The Inspector"
175g Champ Banshee pearlescent yelllow (sidearm and useable overstability King)
175g CFR Teebird-L Glow, offset mini-stamp (bread 'n' butter slightly overstable drives) "Little Wing"
175g Pro Teebird-L white, light use (dead stable w/natural finish, no early trees)
169g Champ Teebird-L pearlescent red, X-out (holds the line, durable)
170g Pro Teebird-L orange (little turn and no fade, not around early trees) "Creamsicle"
169g SE Leopard white, bar stamp (good turn and hold)
161g Champ Leopard clear blue, stiff, X-out (big turn, even downwind)
150g Champ Leopard clear red, gummy (tunnel shots, flat-footed fairway shots) "It's my Girlfriend's"
167g Champ Firebird clear purple (won't turn at all, abnormally overstable for this weight; very flat-topped)
172g Pro Firebird blue, wish they put the "roasted chicken" stamp on these (will turn just a tad, but breaks back harder than the one above)
166g Champ Viking pearly yellow (TL on 'roids)
160g Champ Viking pearly purple (Leopard on 'roids)
155g Champ Viking clear yellow X-out (If I *had* to pick one driver) "Secret Weapon"
166g Proto DX Archangel orange, bar stamp (tailwind King or whenever late, long glide is needed)
175g Champ Orc pearlescent red, X-out (headwinds (inc. Max D), hyzers, sidearms, sidearm rollers)
172g Pro Starfire yellow (Max D, when a Teebird dreams....; newest disc, thought it was all hype)
165g Pro Beast White (Max D with a turn)
171g Champ Sidewinder clear orange, mini star stamp (downwind Max D, big turnovers, backhand rollers)
29 discs from 16 molds. Possibly more prohibitive than enabling to do it this way, but I love having the options. Could easily drop 8 or so discs and not miss them too much. Peeked in some Pro bags at the Golden State Classic this year. 10-20 discs from about 5-10 molds was the norm.

Less 1 172 champ viking, 2 z crushes and a pro starfire after this mornings round at Berkeley
"169g Champ Teebird-L pearlescent red, X-out (holds the line, durable)"
From what i'm aware of there is no such thing as a Champion Teebird L.. The only Teebirds that are made in production in Champion and the old proline stamp(original candy) is the Teebird TB or T(same thing).
TL's are only made in the newer pro plastic or in CE/CFR plastic.
YOu might be thinking of the Initials for California on the bottom of the disc. This actually means nothing as to whether it's a TL or not. The TL and TB both have the CAL for california on the bottom.
Only the original 11x Proline Teebird MOLD(original champion) is the one with the CA for california(i did hear some of the newer champion is made of that mold now too which is sweet.)
just wanted to add that in.
-Scott Lewis
Scott - Firstly, you're right, Innova didn't officially make a Champion TL run(s) as far as I know. Secondly, discounting plastic composition, it is most definitely a TL. It was marked as "TL" from the factory, and more importantly, it has *exactly* the same profile as my all of my Pro TLs, my CFR Glow TL, and my first run CE TL. No idea what the "CA" and "CAL" markings are that you mentioned; I have never seen them on any disc, let alone this one.
As for the plastic, it is an opaque, slightly pearlescent red. It is reminiscent of some of the first run Champion (not Pro, Proline, CFR, or CE) Orcs, Beasts, etc that I have. It *is* an X-out, so maybe this was a "failed" attempt at a CFR TL; the plastic is *that* nice (w/very minor cosmetic defects). My seller, who is only one of two vendors on the West Coast still allowed to go into the warehouse and pick out his store's stock personally, usually comes back with a lot of one-offs and oddballs in addition to all the normal stock, so, I guess I got lucky.
Now if I can only get my hands on one of those 122g purple/blue-metal-flaked-"premium"-plastic Cheetah-stamped Beasts that I passed up on........(not joking).

29 discs from 16 molds. Possibly more prohibitive than enabling to do it this way, but I love having the options.
There now no one can say smack to me about my bag. I am down to 22 discs and 14 molds. And a few of those molds are on their way out of my bag.
