Adjustment Day!

Many players at the 2011 USDGC  were looking forward to their second chance at the Winthrop Gold course in order to improve on their first days perfomance with some adjustments.  Some players were successful, some need to re-adjust for Day 3.

Anthony Mock of Alabama made the best adjustment on Day 2 as he improved his score from Day 1 by a whopping 28 throws.  Mark Flinn of Missouri improved his score by 27 throws, and Martin Hendel of Ontario, Canada improved his score by 25 throws.  In all, fifty-seven competitors improved their performance on Day 2 including twenty-two who shot at least 10 throws better.  Eight competitors may have already found their mark on this tough course as they attained the same score on both days, and fifty-eight players will be looking to take a different tack as they shot worse on Day 2 including twenty-two who shot 10 or more throws worse.  To be fair, it was a bit breezier on Day 2 so players without a good wind game would find it harder to stay on the correct side of the yellow ropes.

Learning opportunities abounded at the USDGC on Day 2 as the Edge program spent the day with 260 youngsters from local elementary schools (cover photo) and after the round was over, former USDGC Champion Dave Feldberg gave a clinic to over 100 players and spectators on the biometrics of disc golf.

After all the reults were in, John Key of Florida is atop the leaderboard after Round 2 having shot 13 throws better than his projected score to finish at -11 after two days of competition.  Bill Charron of Pennsylvania is in second place at -8 and former USDGC Champion Dave Feldberg is in third place at -7. Charlie Coleman of North Carolina, Dutch Napier of Kentucky, and Hall of Famer Lavone Wolf of Alabama are all tied in fourth place at -6.
