New Disc Golf Website AceRunners.com Brings Something for Everyone

In case you haven’t heard, the end of June brought with it a new Disc Golf website that is aiming high to please all fans of the sport. AceRunners.com has something for everyone, whether you just played your first round or have been in the tournament circuit for years as a Pro. Learn new techniques with HD tutorials, find your next course with a great looking course finder that is powered by DGCourseReview.com, follow exciting news and features on the homepage that will include a ‘Course of the Month’ (submitted by users of the site) and weekly Online Disc Golf deals from various merchants. You can experience all of this and more right now - but this is just the beginning of a site that has been built to evolve and to take some chances.

Drew Price, creator of AceRunners.com at 27 years old, has been working hard to get the site launched but constant issues involving unreliable programmers, stolen laptops and a very small budget saw the development stretch from a roughly planned year to nearly 3 years total. After nearly giving up on his dream along the way, the site has finally gone live and he couldn’t be more relieved and excited.

‘A lot of time and effort has gone into the development of AceRunners.com – and while it has surely taken longer than planned, I really hope that people get excited about what we are bringing to the table. Our goal is to have a website that gives more than enough reasons to come back on a weekly or even a daily basis for the more hard-core Disc Golf crowd but we have also made a big effort to ensure that it is a very welcoming spot for beginners to come and learn how to play and to see what the culture of the sport is all about. So far, the feedback has been very positive and I’m happy to say we are only at the tip of the iceberg for what we want to accomplish.”

Right off the bat, visitors should notice a site that is easy to navigate, has a clean and professional design and a lot of attention to sound programming. The homepage alone showcases some of the slick thinking that was invested into the site. Each time you visit or hit refresh, you’ll be served up a different ‘Disc Golf’ term that links to a glossary and you’ll also see the regularly updated news content and links to the Social Media ventures managed by AceRunners.com.

The back-story behind the site is also interesting. It started 4 years ago when childhood friends Drew Price & Justin Drage were playing a round at a local course called Deer Lick in Douglasville, Georgia. Justin had recently gone Pro and was playing routinely and Drew, a more casual player, had just spent his first year working at an Advertising Agency managing websites – he was also teaching himself how to do video-editing. A casual conversation turned into weekly meetings for a few months and a lot of research with an end-goal of making the best site possible for the growing sport that they both enjoyed playing. The site quickly became Drew’s passion project on the side – responsible for creative direction, copywriting, video editing & marketing. Some weeks he would say he spent more time on AceRunners then his day job.

But this project has been about more than hard-work since the start. One idea the two had from the onset was to make a reality show of sorts that would rope in more of their friends, that they would call the ‘Webisodes’ – the first one will launch on the site in October.

‘From day one I told myself I would work my butt off for AceRunner.com but if we can’t have any fun, then it’s not going to be worth it. The ‘Webisodes’ were created to show everyone that we are not just some execs trying to capitalize on an emerging market – we are just everyday young adults who really enjoy the culture of Disc Golf and some of us are pretty good at it, too.’

The Webisodes feature background music from different artists, taking a nod from the old Skate Boarding highlight videos that were popular when that sport was starting to emerge. Drew’s new band, Station AM is one of the featured artists along with other music that includes Reggae, Alternative and Power Pop. All of these artists have graciously donated the use of their music for free.

So check out the site and don’t be surprised if it becomes one of the most popular ones out there for Disc Golf. Here is a list of current and upcoming features:
