Dave Feldberg and Valerie Jenkins win the 2010 Minnesota Majestic.

Val started the day with a 3 shot lead over Des and played steady during the 27 hole round at Hyland SSA.  By the way, the SSA stands for Ski and Snowboard Area.  That's right, this course is built on a Minnesota ski hill.  It utilizes the elevation very well and provides the players with, of course, the obligatory, picturesque downhill shots, the deceivingly hard to reach uphill shots as well as many combinations of cross hill shots, both sloping right to left and left to right.  The course looks fun to play!  There are a couple of tunnel holes, but for the most part it is about controlling your disc in the wind, staying away from the rough, and landing appropriately given the many different slopes and angles around the greens.  It provides the players with many tester putts where they are standing over a very make-able putt, but looking at potentially flying very far past the basket if they don't make it.

Back to the players.  As Val maintained her position at the top of the card, the rest of  the women mixed it up and at the end of the round, Paige Pierce had moved from 5th into a tie for second with Liz Lopez. It is tradition at the Minnesota Majestic that the final 9 is played with the top 4 men and the top 3 women together in one big group.  This allows the women some much deserved time in front of the gallery.  The women took advantage of this.  All three women showed their strength and gave the gallery a good show.  Val ended up gaining a few more throws and won her 3rd National Tour event of the year.

In the men's division, Nate Doss started out leading the field this morning and played a solid round but suffered a few costly misses that resulted in a couple of unfortunate roll aways.  Local favorite, Cale Leiviska and top-rated Dave Feldberg played very well and both turned in 67's which jumped them in front of Nate, but the talk of the morning round was Devan Owen's blistering 65 which moved him from 14th to a tie for third.

During the final 9, the men did not disappoint and gave the gallery a show.  They displayed enviable power on the uphill shots, impressive placement when necessary and of course great accuracy on their putts.  Cale made a solid run at the title with full support from the Minnesota gallery, but was unable to catch Dave who rarely made any mistakes.  The men all finished in the same positions that they started the final 9 and Dave also takes home his 3rd National Tour win of the year.

In Master's Jay Reading leads from start to finish and wins by 7 over Terry Parson and Rob Strasser.  In Grandmasters, Peter Shive proves that though he is nearly Legend's age, he is still a force to be reckoned with and wins a close battle shooting 1 throw better than Chris Porter.
