IDGC Basket Donation Program

Monday, October 3, 2022 - 11:17

The Professional Disc Golf Association (PDGA) and the International Disc Golf Center (IDGC) are excited to announce a Disc Golf Basket Donation Program for 2022, which is available to all schools, community recreation centers, or other such entities in Richmond and Columbia Counties, Georgia, and in the City of North Augusta, South Carolina. Deadline for applications is October 28, 2022.

Entities that offer, or would like to offer, programs that promote, teach, and/or encourage the lifetime fitness activity of disc golf are eligible for consideration. Suitability of the project and the expected sustainability of the program will determine the recipients of this disc golf equipment.

All submitted applications will be reviewed by the Staff of the International Disc Golf Center in Appling, GA. IDGC Staff will conduct initial reviews to determine the suitability of the submitted request, and may contact an applicant if more information is needed. The IDGC Staff will then determine the scope and potential benefits of each request and make recommendations to the PDGA Director of Operations and PDGA Executive Director, who will make the final decision.

All approved projects are eligible to receive up to six (6) portable disc golf targets. There are 18 total targets available, and final distribution is at the discretion of the PDGA.

If your program meets the criteria listed below, and you would like to submit an expression of interest, please complete the IDGC basket donation application. In that application, please describe, in detail, how many targets are being requested, how these targets will be used, how many people will use them, plans for making them available to people outside of the program (if any), and plans to promote/teach the sport of disc golf.

For questions about the program or application, send an email to [email protected].

Criteria to be considered:

  • Materials and equipment must become the property of a Richmond County or Columbia County or North Augusta school, a participating non–profit disc golf, sports or community association or group, and NOT individual participants.
  • Equipment is for programs and projects in Columbia or Richmond County, Georgia or North Augusta, South Carolina, ONLY.
  • Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
  • If awarded, must promote disc golf as a recreation opportunity, either formally through established curriculum, or otherwise.
  • PDGA staff, consultants and Board are not eligible for target donations.
  • Recipients may be asked to provide quarterly progress reports to PDGA, to ensure the sustainability of the program. These reports should be well written with the intent of publication by PDGA, and should include photos of the activities, and other supporting information such as press coverage, testimonials and/or thank you letters. Failure to produce such reports, or reports that do not meet the intent of the program, may result in termination of the arrangement.

Consideration will be based on:

  • The degree of potential benefit to the program participants
  • The span of participants the project will reach
  • Program or curriculum examples (how will you teach and/or promote the sport of disc golf?)
  • Any additional equipment needs to fully support the project
  • Expected sustainability of the program
